Review: I have lusted over these speakers for a while and finally got them and they sound wonderful and look great...BUT you do give up a bit of function for fashion by loosing the headphone jack (I have a G4 Cube). But I really like them nonetheless. By the way I am a Mac fan not an electronics fan

Summary: The best computer speakers available for the money.
Review: I have owned a lot of computer speakers, starting with the Acoustic Research Powered Partners released in the 1980s and going forward. I have to say that the Harmon Kardon soundsticks are the best, and coolest looking I have ever owned. Too bad for users of OSs, that is to say all of you MS [users] out there, that these aren't available for your system. Just another reason for you to upgrade to a Macintosh. Setup and installation are trivial. If you have the right Macintosh, a G3 or later with USB and MacOS 9.2 you can install these speakers. Plug the power brick in, connect it to the subwoofer, run the speaker cables from the subwoofer to the satellites and then plug the subwoofer into the USB port on your Macintosh. Voila, cool looking and great sounding speakers. The subwoofer not only looks cool, with a small blue power light that shines in the darkness, but it also sounds great, delivering very clear bass. The satellites deliver very clear sound and are easily placed. The base of the satellites is an iron ring, which reduces vibration and keeps them solidly in place.
While this system doesn't sound as good as a standard stereo it sounds damned good on your desktop, oh yeah, and it looks cool (I think I might have mentioned that before)

Summary: Excellent Sound System
Review: I have the new iMac and wanted better quality sound than the supplied speakers. I spent a lot of time in stores comparing the sound quality of the Soundsticks with the JBL Creature speakers. I found the Soundstick bass more than adequate but what sold me was the clarity and resolution of the speakers in the directional soundsticks. I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Summary: These things even work on my PC
Review: I just bought some soundsticks and could NOT find out anywhere, even the support web-site by HK if these things might work on my PC, or where I could get the drivers. They looked cool so I bought them anyway, and Windows 2000 loaded compatible drivers as soon as they were plugged in. Very cool. Just thought I'd put in a note in case anybody else felt like using these things with their PC.

Review: I ordered these speakers for my G4 Powerbook through amazon about 3-4 months ago, and I love them. Not only do they look sharp, they sound sharp. I turned up the volume to the max (On the main sound of the computer, and in itunes ) and these speakers had no static, and no sound distorting vibrations. I wanted to test them to the max and hurt my ears because they get so loud. The sound is very crisp, and the base you can boom. I've had nothing but compliments about them. Great look, great sound, and great buy here.

Summary: all looks - no substance
Review: I tried these speakers and found them to preform well below expectations for this price. Bought the Klipsch 2.1 and found them clearly superior to these. If you are concerned about looks, get these. If you want good sound, STAY AWAY!!!

Summary: PERFECT for Windows XP
Review: I'm sure these speakers work great on OS X, but I couldn't resist getting my hands on these puppies after hearing about them working in Win XP. And let me tell you, I don't regret it for a second.The design is sweet to look at, but completely unobtrusive when compared to blocky Windows speakers. The installation is as easy as they come (plug it in - sheesh, my mom could do this). The sound was great out of the box, but the real trick for XP users is to maximize their sound output through a combo of the Windows Audio settings in the Control Panel, and through your MP3 software (I find WinAmp3 works best.) Once you've got the finer settings down, the fidelity is UNREAL. I'm hearing things in some songs that I only hear on my expensive home audio system. Instrumental tracks especially are something to marvel at. And these speakers do it without flinching, even at fairly high volumes. Can't recommend these bad boys enough. =)

Summary: Sound Sticks and Static
Review: I've had my Harman/Kardon soundsticks for 5 months now. They are pretty, but even at moderate volume I get quite a bit of static from the speakers when playing strong, sustained vocals (Dead Can Dance, Shubha Mudgal, etc.).

Summary: Jam with the SoundSticks
Review: I've had my SoundSticks for a month now and am very happy with them. They haven't met all my expectations but they are still great. Setting up the SoundSticks is very easy (subwoofer to USB, satellites to subwoofer, AC adapter to wall socket and subwoofer) and there is no software to install. The only chore you'll have to do is click on the sound icon in System Preferences and select the SoundSticks as the audio output. The glowing blue light in the subwoofer is cool, but dim enough that it hasn't become annoying. And of course, this three-speaker set looks terrific next to my iMac. Sound wise I'm very impressed. Everything is louder and clearer than it was with the round speakers that came with my iMac. But there is a downside to this. Things are so much louder that even on the iMacs lowest volume setting, I can hear every sound the machine makes perfectly clear. Most users will probably have to adjust volume levels in such programs as iTunes and iMovie to much lower settings so as not to go deaf. I've kept my iMac volume at two or three bars since installing the SoundSticks. I'm less impressed with the subwoofer. Maybe I had too high of expectations, but the bass never seems to get very heavy. Could be that I'd have to get a more powerful subwoofer to achieve gut rumbling bass. I've tested the subwoofer with `The Matrix' and was not as impressed as I'd hoped to be even on the subwoofers highest setting. Still the bass it produces is MUCH better than anything the standard iMac speakers produced. So overall, I'm very happy with my SoundSticks. They look great and are a big improvement over the standard speakers. I'm sure for a bit more money you get a system that sounds even better, but I want to keep my peripherals as in line with the iMac design scheme as possible.
