Summary: Fantastic Piece of Equipment
Review: I recently purchased the JBL Creature Speakers in order to upgrade the sound of my G4 from the old computer speakers I owned. The difference between them is night and day! These are great speakers. I can't rave enough about them. However, as mentioned before in other reviews, there are little quirks that you'll need to get used to:
1. The power button is on the subwoofer. If you locate your subwoofer on the ground and at the bottom of your table, it's kinda hard to get to.
2. You lose the option of having easy access of using headphones since there isn't a headphone jack.
These minor complaints don't in anyway lessen the enjoyment I get from the fantastic sound that comes out of these speakers. They're small so they don't take up a lot of space on your desktop. These things look fantastic and compliment the G4 design aesthetic. And thanks to Amazon they're cheaper than they are at the Apple Store.

Summary: Creature Speakers, an iBook and me... oh my
Review: Like many others I fell in love with these while poking around in the Apple store. Sure they sounded great attached to an iPod in the store, but I wasn't sure how they would sound in my room. I couldn't resist the great price on Amazon and my own little Creatures arrived not 30 minutes ago.

My initial reaction was one of disbelief. I still can't believe how much sound can come from such a tiny package. They sound great with all music types, as I've tested out some songs of Jewel's as well as selections from the Requiem for a Dream remixed soundtrack (which is excellent, incidentally).

The treble and bass are fantastic, but you'll have to work around the mid-range a bit. A little tweaking of the knobs on the subwoofer and you'll be rather pleased with the sound. Of course, while adjusting said knobs you may find that they are not in the best location if you store your sub underneath your desk, as most people do.

That being said, I am totally thrilled with this purchase. The design of the speakers just ooze cool, particularly the blue LEDs and touch-senstive volume controls. If you're looking for a set of speakers to look and sound fantastic on your desk, look no further.

Summary: Great Looks AND Sound!
Review: I think these are the best looking speakers out there. The coolest part may be the blue lights underneath the left and right speakers. They really do look like spaceships. The sound is fantastic, especially considering the small size of the whole system. The subwoofer is not as large and bulky as other systems in this price range and it's probably the only subwoofer you wouldn't want to hide anyway - cause it looks cool! Would have been even better if it too had blue lights. The only downside I can think of is that there's only one input jack. So you can't hook up multiple sources directly to the system. I've tried mini-phone Y adaptors but the sound becomes distorted.

Summary: This price is a STEAL for these speakers!!
Review: WOW!!! These speakers are the best I have ever owned by far! They blow the little tinny sounding speakers on my ibook away!!!! The JBL Creature Speakers might be small (the satalites) but they sure are LOUD! My only problem with these speakers are the subwolfer is too big on my desk, and I don't have any room on my floor for it.

Watching DVD's with these babies are just like being in the theater! GREAT BASS! I love the lights under the two satalites, nice touch!

Playing CD's, mp3's, AAC's, and games with these are a pleasure! I especially love turning up the volume (with the touch sensitive buttons on the left satalite) when I'm playing games on my computer (such as Starcraft!) and enjoying being emmersed into the game! The sound is very crisp and clear, no muffled sound.

These speakers are worth every little penny I paid for them! My speakers arrived the next day, and I was so excited to get them out of the box and try them!

I also use these with my ipod...AWESOME!

Summary: JBL Creatures are In a League of Their Own
Review: Ok, these aren't the only computer speakers that can provide amazing sound, but considering you have to spend another $100 to find something that is even close should make your buying decision pretty easy.

I only bought these speakers from amazon.com for their amazing price, but I would never purchase speakers without hearing them first. After about a month of looking I was able to narrow my speaker choice down to two speaker systems, "BOSE MediaMate" two-piece system (for $99) and the "Klipsch ProMedia 2.1" system (for $169), the JBL Creatures weren't one of my choices because I was ignorant and thought they were too ugly considering I am not an apple owner.

The Klipsch system blew me away with it's powerful bass and clear satellites. I was immediately blown away again when I heard the clarity of the Bose speakers, which made a mockery of the Klipsch satellites. This is great right?, except for the fact that the Bose system does not include a seperate sub which meant that the bass, although clear, was not very strong.

If only I could find a speaker system that combined the bass of the Klipsch and the clarity of the Bose system for a reasonable price...

In case you didn't get the idea, the JBL Creatures were the solution to my problem. As I was walking down the aisle of my local...store I heard the JBL creatures playing the new James Bond movie. Wow. Ever since then I knew that the JBL's were the best choice for my college dorm, and that was for $130 dollars in the stores. Considering Amazon.com has them for less..., you would have to be stupid or deaf to not pick up a pair of these amazing speakers.

Summary: Good Speakers
Review: I got my speakers about a month ago. Mainly I go them for the iPod. They have amazing sound quality. For speakers so small the sound is amazingly crisp and clear. The bass is good, but a little unclear when turned up to maximum power. (It takes some adjusting on the subwoofer to get the bass right.) The little lights under the speakers provide for a nice little effect. Overall I think they were a good buy. I would have given them 4 stars except for the problem that I had with them when first bought. They worked for about 2 days and then one day the speakers decided to play full-blast all the time, and I couldn't turn them down. Luckily the product was still in warranty, and I was able to get new ones. So far these new ones have been great and have no problems.

Summary: Great office system
Review: I bought these to replace a clunky shelf-top stereo in my office, both to save space and improve the sound. I am very happy on both fronts -- the main speakers take up very little space on my desk, and the subwoofer hides on the floor. Playing Internet radio or MP3's from my laptop, they sound much better than a desktop stereo system would, even one in the $300 or $400 price range, in my opinion. They also sound better than a 5.1 $250 speaker system I have with my home computer.

So, this ends up being a very inexpensive way to get reasonable quality sound in a small space. As another reviewer has noted the touch-sensitive volume control is a classy touch, and works as it should. I am strongly considering getting a second set to connect w/an iPod for a bedside music system.

Summary: JBL is the Best in Computer Audio!!
Review: First, let me tell you something about me. I love sound...Big Clear sound. I am somewhat of a perfectionist when it comes to sound. I have a Home Theater System in my room, and an 8 speaker sound system in my car. And, of course, JBLs for my computer. So, you can understand that I demand quality when it comes to audio.

Now, I have always been a Sony person. They make incredible products. But I would have to say that JBL takes the cake in audio products. JBL does it right!!! A lot of computer speakers these days (or even cheap aftermarket speakers for that matter) give off something akin to what you would hear from a vintage 1950's radio. It's really sad. But anyone who has ever owned a pair of JBLs knows that JBL is the exception to the rule. They are very affordable and yet...Nothing short of exceptional. And durable!!!

Anyway, you will NOT be disappointed at all with these speakers. No distortion, no static...Just clear, crisp sound that bounces off your walls and fills your ears. Sound that probably could rival some Home Theater systems.

By the way, if you are looking for something a bit smaller, cheaper and a little more economic...Than I highly recommend a pair of JBL Pro Speakers that came with the COmpaq Presario's a few years back. Amazon doesn't carry them (I'm not sure why, maybe they are no longer available or just were a promotional item for the COmpaq/JBL merge), but you can get them on ebay for about $10-$15. I have them on an older computer and they are incredible! They won't stand up to a new HOme Theater system, but they do sound a lot like the nicer audio systems coming with these new cars. They are amplified and have incredible bass for something so small.

Summary: Great sound and value
Review: I listen to a lot of music on my computer and needed an upgrade of speakers. After a lot of search I though I would give these JBL's a chance. They came today and when I hooked them up I could not believe it. They are amazing. I cranked them up and my whole living room filled with crystal clear pumping music. Amazing sound from such small components. The sub also cranks out impressive bass. GREAT SPEAKER AT A GREAT PRICE!!!

Summary: Disappointing
Review: I received a set of speakers which functioned perfectly for about two hours and then stopped working. Harman Kardon customer service replaced this set with one containing a subwoofer which cuts out and a non-functional left speaker connection.

I am attempting to get another replacement set now. The manufacturer has not called me back, and I have no idea if they will replace the set if they do call.

The whole situation is sad because I really like the way these speakers are designed, and I enjoyed the ones which worked before they unexpectedly shut down.
