Summary: Good Things Come in Small Packages
Review: The Altec Lansing ATP3 speaker system defies comprehension. First, it represents a tremendous value for the dollar. Secondly, the sound quality is commendable for speakers in this price range. A high level of musicality combining authoritative bass, smooth mid range and treble. The seperate bass and treble controls provided added flexibility in tailoring the sound to the listener's requirements. This system would score high against any system irrespective of price, hats off to Altec for pulling a rabbit out of the hat.

Summary: Very nice for the price
Review: I got these over a year ago, and they are great. I live in an apartment, and I always get complaints from my neighbor because these put out loud, "butter smooth" sounds.

I highly recommend these to anyone wanting a basic speaker set-up, with some power. These will not let you down.

Summary: Mclaren Man
Review: This system is awesome. The speakers are compact and deliver clear, crisp sound. The best part about these speakers is that the bass doesnt crack up when its playing on full volume. They're great for gaming too. Get them!

Summary: Very Nice and Quality sound
Review: I bought these a week ago and they sound really good. Bass is loud. Little speakers delivers more than enough sound. I have to turn the bass down to not to disturb my neighbour downstairs.I highly recommend it.

Summary: Great speakers -- Small price
Review: I've had many computer speakers and these are the best I've had. I'm not interested in surround sound for my computer. These speakers compare favorably to my Bose 201s out in the studio, running on an old Marantz tube receiver.

I heard these speakers at a friends house and at the time I was using an Evermax 2.1 speaker system which sounded almost as good as my wife's JBL Creature Speakers on her Mac; which sound darn good. The Altecs blow the doors off her Creature Speakers at one third the price.

I'd say if you want fine sound at less than a hundred bucks buy these.

Summary: Awesome Sound!
Review: The wattage may be weak but these speakers pack a punch! Turn the bass up in Windows Media Player SRS WOW effects, crank the bass knob on the speakers all the way up and you have clear, undistorted kick butt bass! Drums come in clear, synths perfect sounding and kickin' bass! I've had these speakers for 3 years now and not a single complaint other than the fact they dont have a headphone jack up top for night time listening.

Summary: Stopped working after ten months of use....
Review: I loved these speakers until....

After about ten months of consistent use, both of the connections (subwoofer to speakes and AC adapter to subwoofer) became loose, and eventually caused the system to fail completely.

The connection / signal would fade in and out. I would be forced to jiggle the connections on the subwoofer until the speakers worked - and then, the slightest movement of a speaker wire would cause the speakers to fade out again.

At this point, I am unable to get power to the speaker system at all. It is broken and no longer under warranty.

I have ordered a pair of JBLs to replace them. Hopefully these will last longer than ten months!

Summary: Great Sound for Price
Review: I have owned these speaker for about two years now, and they seem very consistant, no problems at all. Although, I must warn you as time went on, these speakers aren't enough for me now. I am upgrading very soon to a 5.1 system.

These speakers compare with other 2.1 systems that cost $150. These are absolutaly great for the price! They are very attractive, not too weird, yet not too boring. They have a excellent sub that does O.K. at higher levels on the volume. The satellites are awesome at highs, and do well at the mid's. The speakers have Treble and Bass settings, which can be changed to your liking. The setup is as easy as it gets, I have them plugged into my headphone jack.

Now comes the cons. These are NOT THX Certified, which means if you play them at there highest levels, there going to sound like crap. They do not sound well unless the satellites are pointed right at you, which can be annoying. The clarity level of these are so-so, and turning up the Treble doesn't help.

If you are looking for a easy beginning computer set for music, some games, DVD's, these are great for you. They are definitly dependable, solid speakers that will provide great sound for MOST of your needs. I must again warn you though. The more and more I've had these the more and more I've wanted more (5.1) speakers, bigger bolder sound, and more clarity. And for the price, these babies are gold. Get them. I'm giving them 5 out of 5 for being good sounding constant speakers, that did everything I wanted them to.

Summary: May Not be Reliable, Sound is So-So
Review: These speakers do look cool. But after a few months of normal use, I noticed the sound from the right speaker was dimming. It wasn't the balance control, so I unplugged the speakers and plugged them back in. Now the problem was only in the left speaker. I'm not sure what to make of this, but the speakers seem to be working fine now (a day later).

Though casual listeners may not notice, sound quality is only so-so. There is much variation in the frequency response curve for these speakers, with the high (125 Hz) and low (2.5 kHz) values differing by about 14 decibles in my setup. That doesn't include the extremes, where the high and low ends drop off dramatically after about 63 Hz and 10 kHz, respectively. Even with Winamp's 10-band equalizer, I found it impossible to substantially reduce the peak at 125 Hz. And with so much high-end rolloff, don't expect the highs to blow you away.

Summary: Fantastic and economic sound
Review: ATP3 speakers are the best when it comes to bang for the buck. It sounds great, has good range, rich bass, and best of all, the satellites are thin, doesn't take up much space on my crowded desktop. It has knobs for treble, bass, and volume, which are not common in speakers in its price range.

Unfortunately, ATP3 does not have a headphone jack, howeve, it sounds superb in low vloume, so I can still have my late night gaming and not waking up my wife :)
