Rating: Summary: great supplement for TV Review: Adding this sound system to my TV set has made an enormous improvement. Volume is more than adequate for my medium sized room. There are three inputs, analog, optical digital, and coaxial digital, each of which can be hooked up to a different device. The remote switches between the analog and digital inputs, while the 2 digital inputs autoswitch depending upon which is active (with optical dominant if both are). My sole complaint is with the limited range of the volume control on the remote, which is inadequate to deal with the differences in level between my components, so I often find myself having to adjust the master volume level, which is inconveniently located on the back of the subwoofer.
Rating: Summary: Flexible Quality Review: I bought my 8200s to hook up to my computer to play DVDs - and does it ever! I used to run the sound through my portable stereo, and never missed the full bass effects, stereo that makes you turn your head to look for the source, and a clear crisp sound throughout. I also play my MP3 collection all day long, playing classical, sacred, oldies, kid's song, all sounding great. I especially like a satellite system from an aesthetics point of view, too.
Rating: Summary: Speakers Don't Last Review: I bought this system over a year ago and the two front speakers blew out after about 3 months. The receiver and sub are great. I mean a 100 Watt sub for a computer. If you have speakers to replace the others once they go, get this, otherwise, be more reasonable and test some systems out before you buy it.

Rating: Summary: Unsure... Review: I bought this system several months ago and I've been using it as my primary home entertainment sound system. It's been fantastic. The bass is completely there (sometimes too much), the speakers are extremely well matched, and they hide inconspicuously enough for my taste. I only have one gripe and that's the voice clarity. Unless I punch the volume up all the way, the little center channel speaker can't seem to give me what I need. The surround effects are marvelous but they tend to blow me away when they come in after a quiet conversation in the movie. I'm thinking of purchasing center with a little more size to change the dynamics of the system, but with the limited power (20 watts) I'm afraid it'll sound just as quiet. BUT, other than that one problem, the system has been great. If you put an attenuator on the lines, the hum disappears and it can handle most anything you want to dish out. DVD is outstanding and my MP3 collection has never sounded sweeter. If this is your price range, get this system because with all the amenities, even the shortcomings will still not touch the entertainment you'll get from this system.
Rating: Summary: Kick [rear] speakers if you have the money Review: I was slightly disappointed with these speakers when i first got them. However, after a couple of months the hum that used to be present when no music was being played disappeared. I was also slightly dissapointed with the power of the sub, which should be a little more powerful with its 100 watt power. Overall the speakers sound really great but if your going to spend $[money] i'd advise the klipsch 4.2 or 5.1's which give you a little more bang for your buck.
Rating: Summary: Sound is good if u can get rid of the humming sound Review: Just got this set of speakers. I was furious when I got the humming sound when I use regular RCA connections. Once I use the S/PDIF optical cable , the humming sound is gone and it works great after that. I am using this for my mini home theatre since I can't afford big budget stuff.U need optical cable to run this without any humming sound! This does not support DTS in case u don't know. Only Dolby Digital. These speakers are still running as of April 2002.
Rating: Summary: Sound is good if u can get rid of the humming sound Review: This is one NICE set of speakers. I wasn't expecting anything like this quality for under $300. You get 6 nicely-constructed satellites, a 5.1 decoder and a subwoofer/amp/footrest, 6 good quality speaker cables, a remote and all the interconnects. The whole kit is very well made. The sound is powerful (200W RMS total) and distortion-free. I also test-drove the Cambridge SW DTT3500. It has slightly better, more well-defined treble but the Midiland S4/8200 wins in every other category and gives much better overall sound -- especially when you crank it up. The Midiland subwoofer is in a class of its own. I really like this product!

Rating: Summary: The Best Speaker System I've found Review: When I bought these speakers, I was surprised by the clarity and the amount of bass that this system could produce. I usually used these to play my MP3s, games, and DVDs, and they produce the best sound for them I have ever heard. If your looking for a exceptional system, this is the one to get.
