Rating: Summary: Great Speakers But... Review: I've been spoiled by my ideas about hooking up the computer to my stereo system. However these guys have a case for there size and almost as good sound as the stereo system! I compose music and these just work great for that, the bass is not too much that it spoils the song and sound and its not so low that it sounds like your hearing a 1920s radio. A combo of these with a stereo (by plugging these into your stereos headphone jack) works great too. Great speakers, Great Sound, Great Price, and portable too!
Rating: Summary: Depends what you are looking for Review: I've had these speakers for over a year and a half now and they do a solid job for the price. search around and find the best price. Don't expect spectacular results at the high and low ends of the volume spectrum. The speakers will tend to distort at high levels of bass. If you are a serious gamer or a music listener who loves to pump it up, go for something else. If you are the average JOe looking for very good sound at a decent price, you cannot find anything better. This system comes with 4 satellites so be sure to buy a sound card that can handle this. Soundblaster 128 and Live handle can handle this.
Rating: Summary: Isn't there room for 6 stars?! Review: OH MY GAWWD! This is an incredible sound! And I've only just set it up 30minutes ago. This small system puts my living room ($450) surround sound system to shame. It took me only 20min to setup, and that includes time for my retentive "particularness." I'm glad I shopped around and took my time in purchasing a computer audio system. I use it with my CreativeLabs SoundBlaster AWE64. I'm going to upgrade to the SoundBlasterLive just to get the full potential of these speakers. You want two words to describe it? GET IT! I paid alot of attention to the customer reviews in my search...that is how I came to find the FPS1000. Feel free to email me to ask any further questions as I will be testing every angle tonight. (i.e. games, mp3's, etc.)
Rating: Summary: Passable at best Review: Perpetually the impulse buyer, I am perpetually regretting my purchases after the fact. This fine pile of pathetic sound came to me in a Creative Labs bundle o' stuff that included the Soundblaster Live (MP3) and a CD-RW drive. Digression: I have had decent success with the card (the experimental drivers under Linux still need some work, but hey, that's why they're "experiemental") and unfortunately, I've only had to burn 3-4 CD-R's so far. Back to the speakers... I detest them, but they are all I have right now. The EAX effects are marginally cool, especially in games like Thief and Unreal. Also, watching DVDs and hearing gunshots shoot from one area to another is cool. My main complaint lies in the speakers' performance playing any type of music. Perhaps I just bought the wrong speakers for the job, but I would not recommend these speakers to a friend under any circumstances. The bass is thin, and it pops. It isn't "full" at all. The highs are actually more annoying than "shimmering." And the middle vocal range seems somewhat muffled to me. Sure, they do a decent job of effects, but what game doesn't have a bit of a musical score in the background, and who doesn't pop in a CD from time to time?
Rating: Summary: Awesome sound Review: Simply the best there is. I cannot emphasize on how much I recommend these speakers. You will find the sound system in line with even the high priced speakers... and sometimes even exceeding their quality as well.
Rating: Summary: Computer Gamers: A TOTAL PACKAGE Review: Sure, you could go out and spend the extra $150 on the DTT2500 5.1 Digital Speakers, but why bother? This FPS1000 will do the job for any gamer out there who wants to take advantage of his or her soundcard's 4-speaker hookup capabilities. Everything, from installation to documentation, is perfect with this speaker system. Creative provides an affordable solution to those gamers who want surround-sound mayhem without draining their bank account. I've listened to MP3s, CDs, and games with EAX, and all of it just blew me away. Granted, a digital system is the "best," but if you're a gamer who wants an EXCELLENT, easy setup, then look no further. The sounds will amaze you, and the price is the best in the game--hands down. You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Best all-around speaker system Review: The FPS-1000 (comes in black or white) is the best general-purpose 4 point speaker system in the market today. The four channel satellites have amazing sound clarity whose effects immediately set it apart from even the more expensive 2 speaker systems. These speakers have true independent audio-channeling (with the proper sound card eg. Soundblaster Live or Aureal Vortex) that will satisfy gamers and multi-media buffs alike. Comes with 2 speaker stands that seem like a novel idea but are too flimsy to be practical. Unless you don't move much in your workspace, you're likely to knock your speakers down a few times in the couse of a week. PROS: - Physical volume control knob with ample wire length allowing you to put it within arm's reach. - Amazing sound quality for its size and price CONS: - Sub-woofer can't produce deep sounds: lacks that "kick" that some look for. This may be due to the Sub-woofer's plastic housing (as opposed to wood).
Rating: Summary: Great value! Unbelievable performance for the money! Review: The performance of this product is INCREDIBLE
Rating: Summary: Radio indeedy Review: The radio interference really is quite bad. Granted, I live in downtown Atlanta, and you can probably pick up FM on your fillings, but even without connecting it to a sound source, I could hear radio. After monkeying with various configurations, I discovered that looping the sub's input twice around the speaker (with a single twist) reduced the static to an acceptable level. What worked even better was just crumpling up the input cable and holding it in my fist; but I got hungry and had to let go.
Rating: Summary: Amazing speakers Review: These speakers are great. They produce excellent sound and have pretty decent volume. I haven't had any problems with them. They are a good size so its no hard to find space for them. The bass is pretty deep and hits hard. Overall these speakers are amazing for the price. The sound is great and for that price you won't see anything better.
