Summary: Excellent buy with some quirks.
Review: My computer is my life, movies, games, music, I do it all on this thing. I bought these when they were brand new for [$$$] and they've been worth every penny. Awesome quality, and the subwoofer kicks out some impressive bass before starting to max out. The dual drivers fill a lot of space with the bass, though there are quite a few silent spots, as with any sub. The sattelites are amazingly loud, and crystal clear at any volume.My only beef with the ProMedia 5.1 is the control pod. It's an awesome little thing, very very nice idea, great having clear numbers for volume instead of just eyeballing a knob, but it's [...]. A friend of mine bought these and his pod died after like 3 months, had to buy a new one. My large control knob worked fine for a few months, but after a while it started to go crazy, I'll turn it slowly down and the volume will jump around going up rapidly, not fun at trying not to wake people up when your game suddenly blasts at full volume in a dorm. Looking online, control problems are common for these things. Try the volume at your local PC store and most likely you'll see it jump right there.
Control pod has a line in and a headphones port, a direct line out port would be great for Audigy guys like me with no line-out (plugs tied up by the 3 cables to the amp). Unless your soundcard drivers do it for you, any stereo signal you play will just use 2 out of 5 sattelites! If you set them to stereo speakers then it'll use the 4. A stereo splitter button would have been great, but there isn't one, so don't buy these expecting to hear 5 sattelites in anything but movies and newer games. Anyways, it's the best 350-400 bucks you can spend on your computer. The only reason I wrote so much bad is I've had them for a year or three and the pod is starting to get worse (it's like a slow electronic alsheimers or something)

Summary: Great Speakers
Review: I got these after listening to my friend's set, which blew me away. Before these, I was on radio shack 45W speakers, and comparing these side to side is like going to a concert, or going to a concert with tin cans on your ears. The bass response isn't like the kind you hear in suped up cars that have that droning, monotone buzz. Instead, you can hear the notes clearly without any bleeding. If you appreciate quality sound and are an audiophile like me, you should get these. What am I saying? If you're an audiophile, you probably own these already.

Review: I just received the Klipsch Promedia 4.2 system and it freakin rocks. The 4.2 is made up of dual 2.1 systems so you get TWICE the bass! This baby rocks the house. Tango down, Charlie!

Review: I was amazed at the quality of this system. Tremendous bass output (29hz) along with beautifuly voice matched 100-watt speakers. A feature unlike many other multimedia systems is that the audio controls are not on one of the satilite speakers but on its own. If you are willing to invest the money, this is a very good buy.

Summary: Great Sound but cheaply made !
Review: Thomas Foltin was right about the satelite. Dead ON Arrival (3 out of 4 Satelites are working) How terrible is that!!! - I ordered Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 from Amazon on Feb 15 and Received it March 15 and was so eager to check it out, i went to UPS to pick it up. Upon, openning the package, I noticed there was some slight light scratches, very minor, and in the controller the screen that shows the level of sound also had a scratch on the plastic. Hmm? Wondering if KLISPCH just repackages and resells? Well, feeling reluctant and hoping for the best I ordered it even knowing and hearing about these issues. I will be returning for an exchange and hopefully I will get a new one that works for a long time and hopefully you won't get mine. I think the problem here is with KLISCH's Quality Assurance and Amazon not packing it. They are just sending it out with KLISCH's original packaging and i am sure UPS is not as gentle as we hope them to be. From a pretty disappointed customer.

Summary: Hard to Beat!!!
Review: If you want audiophile sound, go buy yourself some real studio monitors like the Yamaha MSP-10S. Professional monitors usually use a 1" tweeter, 8" midbass driver, and a seperate 10" subwoofer. The Klipsch 2.1 are NOT monitors! It has a 3/4" tweeter, 3" midrange, and a 6.5" subwoofer. The company's focus was on unparalled sound at a specific price range. They've surpassed their expectations. The sound engineers at Klipsch are actual audiophiles and have done an amazing job with their ProMedia line. What were the guys at Altec Lansing thinking with their 3" midrange driver firing down into the floor? The only thing I don't like about the Klipsch 2.1 is that since the 3" are not actual midbass drivers, the highpass crossover slope is a little too high. There's no midbass kick from the satellites. Its all left to the 6.5" subwoofer to take care of. Overall, hard to beat!!!

Review: Easy to install and sounds GREAT! Well worth the cost if you like music. I have the 5.1 system with 6 speakers. I am in my fifties and listen to everything from 60's to present rock, classical, jazz, you name it. They work well with all!

Summary: The Outer Limits...
Review: Being a musician by formation, and a sound engineer by application (with recording studio experience), I fancy myself as a connoisseur of quality sound. My first encounter with the (quite famous even in those days) Klipsch technology was 26 years ago, on the dance floor of a discoteque that had those HUGE black triangular speaker cabinets sitting on the four corners of the dance stage. Having a gig to do the next night,we put a table and chairs in the middle of the stage and chilled while the dj laid some Dave Grusin and stuff on us until opening time...it is STILL like yesterday! So last year, I bought the 5.1 Promedia from Klipsch and played my favorite music (mainly from late 60's to mid-80's) on my puter and in so many cases the music seemed somewhat "different"...Indeed, it was the very First time in my life that I was actually listening to ALL of the music! Anything else than the Klipsch 5.1 Promedia for your pc or other audio applications even, would be uncivilised for the true music lover...honest!
