Summary: Substantial Power, Phenominal Price.
Review: I recieved my Z-680 speakers about 5 days after ordering them from Amazon with the free shipping option. I was surprised that this option was availble due to it being a 43 pound package. Saved me $38 for the next best option.
I set the speakers up in the best way possible, hanging them on the wall. I ran 16 gauge all copper wiring (I suggest you get) through the crawl areas behind the walls in my bedroom. I live in the 3rd floor of my house so there is a 360 degree space around the living area ment for storage etc. I used about 75 feet of wiring to set up the 5 satilites, all running to the 188 watt subwoofer, to one of the corners of the room. My flat screen TV and flat screen computer monitor are about a foot apart, so I can have the truest 5.1 sound, with both systems for use with games, movies, MP3's etc, all hooked up to the digital control center. I have the system hooked up to my Xbox via the optical digital input. What a difference! The sound Playing Halo, DOA3 and DVD's with the Xbox is, well, imerssive. The digital coaxial cable is running to my Sound Blaster Audigy 2ZS sound card. I watched The Count of Monte Cristo last night, which supports Dolby Digital Surround, and it sounded wonderful. The vocals came out only the center speaker, music etc, from the surround, and of course, lows from the sub. (Which every Dolby supported DVD, video game etc, will work.) And the overall package works very well. The speakers are THX certified, DTS and Digital Pro Logic are supported through the rather large command center, which I have on my computer desk. There are numerous effect options availble with each input. To switch through each, just press the 'input' button and it will switch to each connected input. The remote works, all the buttons you need are on it, even power, (which sadly the Xbox lacks) though you have to aim it directly at the infared window.
I searched for about a month, trying to find the best high end computer speaker system and I am happy with my decision. The 500 watt RMS power is wonderful, albit overpowering at times (playing MP3's you'll have to turn the sub almost all the way down). Don't be swayed by the seemingly small 8" woofer. Seemignly I say because people are used to 10's and 12's in their cars. The box is ported and the power more than enough. My family has a 5.1 home theater system 3 floors down, and of course that sounds well, better, but for $270 for everything, which is a mere fraction of that cost, who cares?

Summary: Hunk of junk
Review: This crappy monitors have nothing but a nightmare, bought them on february 27th and it hasn't even been a year and the subwoofer's broken already, the rest of the system works but the darn sub is broken, I'm going to get new ones since I used them for monitoring 5.1 mixes and I'm certainly not buying Logitech speakers ever again. THEY SUCK!

Summary: The Best Sound System Ever!
Review: I love Logitech, they are one of the best electronics manufacturers ever. If it has the Logitech name on it, I probably have bought it. As for the Logitech Sound system, I own two of them, they are that good. I have one hooked up to my XBox and one to my computer system. Without a doubt, Worth every penny. Can't go wrong with this sound system. Buy it today, A matter of fact, buy two of them. You won't be sorry.

Summary: yepper!
Review: I have been living quite happily with my Boston Acoustic speakers for some time. I recently upgraded my computer and decided to upgrade my speakers as well. After listening to the Harmon Kardon's and Creative SoundWorks products I was seriously considering keeping my Bostons. I was really skeptical of the LogiTechs speakers.......well, because who thinks someone can make good mice and good speakers.........and was really impressed.

My only complaint is the bass. It can be a little over powering, and I have to adjust it way down when listening to music. It is perfect for movies.......to such an extent, I bought a second Z680 and I am presently using it for my theater surround sound.......had to replace the bulky Polk LS90s at sometime.......and there has been very slight drop off between the old and new.

I would give it 5 stars if the bass was a little more controllable, and if there was a better way to control those settings.

This is still the best speakers for the money. !!!!!!!!

Summary: Logitech Z680-Agood deal, but.....
Review: The Logitech Z680 is a good sounding system for most movies and video games but only so so for music. The system was easy to set up but the amount of speaker wire supplied was no where near enough for the rear speakers for even a small room. But wire is cheap. And while all satellite speakers had shielded magnets, the sub woofer did not and I had to move it about 2 feet away from the TV. As others have noted, the woofer is very powerful, too powerful. I had to set on the minimum setting and even then it had my room shaking on most movie sound effects. On Music, there was pronounced "Boom" on certain notes which can probably be fixed if I can figure out a way to get a graphic EQ in the system. The level on the the rear channels was too low and I had to set the level for the real channels to max. You can change the level on the surround speakers, center speaker and the subwoofer and getting the proper balance takes a lot of trial and error. The Dolby surround decoder worked well. Monday Night Football has never sounded so good, but other TV shows were disappointing however that may depend on the show or on how my cable company distributes their signal.

Summary: AWESOME!!!!!
Review: don't listen to what people are saying about the background noise... i've tried it on 4 different sources and none of them have had a problem! it must be a outdated sound card or somethin. aside from the slightly involved 1st time setup (after the first time it gets easy to set um up), these speakers have no problems!! if you want some kick booty speakers, your hunt is over.

Summary: Awesome Value for Money !
Review: It doesn't happen too often that I give out a 5 star rating.
This system deserves it and more!
I can argue all I want in the audiophile (well maybe quasi-audiophile) tech details but when it comes to buying, 'value for money' tops my priorities. And this is the best bang for buck one can get. I am not talking just computer speakers for gaming but also for music and home theatre experience in your living room.
What else? Funny you should ask! in addition to the aesthetics, crisp power, and quality that it delivers it has pretty decent on board dolby, dts,...decoders, various inputs optical, coax, 6Ch direct...virtually taking out the need for any additional recvrs (read save $$). It's also THX certified, if that matters to you.
Now, if you ask my wish list, I would say a better frequency response (which presently is 35Hz - 20KHz). BUT, this is just my Wish List and not a Con considering the cost of the system!

Summary: You won't be dissapointed....
Review: This really is an amazing system especially at the price Amazon lists it for. The satelites reproduce sounds clear and true. The subwoofer is in a class by itself, all you can say is WOW. Works great for music or a cheap home theatre system. Decoder also works flawlessly. The problem of hissing satelites is barely existant, you have to be within 4 inches of the speakers. Thats what happens when you have as much power as this system does going to those little satelites. And I can't say enough for Amazon's shipping. I did the Super Saver shipping and ordered it on Nov 24th and it was at my doorstep on Nov 26th not the scheduled date of Dec 3rd-4th. Buy this one you won't be dissapointed.

Summary: A great system.
Review: This surround sound system is fantastic. Great looks, crytal clear sound, and thunderous bass. Great flexability with all the inputs. I have my xbox and tv hooked up to it, and plan on getting my computer hooked up to it in the next month or two. THX certified, what else can I say. All of the Dolby encoding is awesome. A great price for the system too. Amazon was fast delivering it with free shipping. If you're in the market, get these!

Summary: Logitech Z680
Review: This is the best sounding computer speaker system i have heard. I put it in my bedroom replacing my existing DENON 1602 and high quality 5 + 1 surround system in order to compare.

It compared very nicely indeed. It has good volume and clarity of sound. It couldnt quite compete as far as richness of sound or overall volume but to be so close to the sound quality of my dedicated home theatre setup is a fine performance indeed.

It is a revelation when u plug it into your pc so long as a u have a high class audio card. Having the speakers so close to you with the clarity that they provide brings a new experience to gaming and mp3's. Thoroughly recommended.
