Rating: Summary: Z680's Review. Had them for one week. Review: At first, I was a bit skeptical because after reading many a review on many sites, a few people complained of a hissing sound and a few people's speakers ended up blowing up. If this would happen to me, I would have had to spend a lot of money to get them shipped back to Amazon, so it was a bit risky.I decided to go ahead and buy them. After about a week, they came. I was very eager to open them up and set them up. I spent a lot of time and read the manual and made sure I did it right. Finally, after doing all that, I turned them on... What I heard was amazing sound, amazing. All around good sound, from high's to heavy bass. The subwoofer is very powerful, one of the reasons I bought the system in the first place. I highly recommend this product to anybody looking for an amazing 5.1 speaker system, that is, if you have the money. Pros: Very powerfull and clear Remote is very handy and very well made Sattelites small compared to power they have Cons: LCD on wired remote is a bit hard to read, have to be at right angle Speaker wires provided are cheap and not very long. (2x6',3x15')
Rating: Summary: AWSOME!! Review: The best thing about this system is its sound. I once put it as loud as it would go and there was no fuzzy sound comming from it. But I had 2 complaints from the other people living in our apartment :(
Rating: Summary: Simply Great Speakers Review: The only thing I have in addition to other reviews is that I use the speakers everyday at high audio levels and they are still performing as well as when I bought them over a year ago. They are 5.1 speakers, so be sure you have a 5.1 compatible sound card if you are using these with a computer.
Rating: Summary: Scoot over Klipsch, here's logitech Review: These speakers rival a home theater in-a-box, the subwoofer is one-of-a-kind 188watts. The Decoders are what made me choose them instead of klipsch, Dolby digital, Prologic II, and DTS, and it sure deserves to wear the THX Label on these speakers. With the control remote or pod, I can switch between my XBOX,GC,and cable box. These are a must!!!
Rating: Summary: Good sound, Great price Review: I narrowed my pc speaker choices down to the Klipsch Ultra 5.1's and the Z680's. This system has received many other great reviews, and the price was right (about $125 or so less than the Klipsch's). Setup was easy enough and they sound great. No major complaints here. Just make sure that before you buy these you have plenty of room for the sub because it's pretty big. There's no doubt that the Klipsch Ultras are awesome, but this system gets my vote just for the price alone. Great buy!
Rating: Summary: The Z680 is a sledgehammer with overwhelming power Review: The Z680 is a very good value if you seeking to enjoy DVDs, games, and rock/pop/rap music on your computer. The bad thing about these speakers is that they sound so good, they bring out the defecencies in low bitrate MP3s. I could tell the difference between 128K and 256K recordings with these speakers. The subwoofer is excellent for DVDs and games since it has the Boom-Factor. The subwoofer is huge and heavy for a multimedia set. The sound the subwoofer makes is not subtle nor is it tight but it is great for explosions and LFE sounds. If you listen to Jazz or classical, don't get these speakers. The subwoofer just overwhelms the sattelites. I have my subwoofer turned to the lowest level and it still rattles the pencils on my desk. The control pod is a little hard to read since you have to read it at the right angle. The speaker cables are a little too short. +Positives Great subwoofer for LFE High volume without distortion Awesome for games and movies Tons of power - Negatives Subwoofer is too boomy for Jazz and Classical Subwoofer volume is too high at default setting
Rating: Summary: Awesome Review: This sound system is by far the best I have ever heard. One of my friends used to own a HTS that cost him around $1000, and the z680's still sounded better and louder than his. The sound quality is amazing, it is a truly surround sound system. The subwoofer is by far one of the best I have heard.
Rating: Summary: Should be better for the price Review: I recieved the speakers and hooked everything up and they worked fine accept for one problem. The sub vibrated like it had been busted. So, I sent them back and got a new set and hooked them up, and guess what? A nice vibrating sub not as bad but it still sounded like crap. I don't know if I just happened to get unlucky and get two bad sets of speakers or what. But when something like this happens it doesn't give me much faith in a company or its other products. The satellite speakers sounded nice but if you don't have the whole unit working the way it should it doesn't matter. When I pay this much for something I expect it to work, especially after reading all of these great reviews about it.
Rating: Summary: TWO DEFECTIVE UNITS IN A ROW Review: I received the first set of speakers. Worked ok for about 2 days. After that a loud hissing in the speakers would drown out the sound. I called Logitech and let them hear what was going on. They said the speakers were defective & to send them back. I received the second set. They worked ok for 1 day before the subwoofer went out. I replaced the fuse thinking that might be the problem, but nothing.....DON'T BUY THEM. THEY ARE NOT RELIABLE!!
Rating: Summary: Too many problems for the price Review: My husband and I spent 2 full days trying to get these speakers to actually play digital sound. The manual is worse than useless. The satellite speakers put out a terrible hiss. We have the Soundblaster Audigy 2 soundcard, pretty close to the top of the line, so we've got digital capability. Eventually we did get them to work (would it have killed them to tell us that in the DVD player audio config, you need to set the audio output to SPDIF if you've got an external Dolby 5.1 decoder? Also, you do have to set your card to Digital output only, which will cause audio problems due to Windows) and yeah, they sound great. In fact, the hiss went away once we finally got everything configured. But for the price this set costs, this is way too painful and confusing.
