Summary: Hiss and Hum from this sytsem
Review: This is the finest sounding system I have ever heard.
I bought this system about a year ago and it is awesome!
I must admit I never use the word Awesome but this system is truly awesome!
When I first bought this system I was very satisfied with the Optical and Coax input. Surround sound - no caparison!
Sounded like nothing I have heard before. Just like being at a concert or Theater! I have Nakamichi and Onkyo stereo equipment so I am use to great sound.
This was an unbelievable sounding system. I have 18 foot ceilings in my house and this system filled the room like a live concert. AWESOME AWESOME AWESOME. The problem was with the direct input, it had so much hiss and such a bad connection. Tremendous humming in the background from this input no matter what I did.
I was so upset with the sound from the direct input. UNTIL I read a review from PC magazine about the PRO HIFI-LINK by
Xitel. Pro HI-FI LINK is a USB connection interface between your computer and your stereo system or in my case the Logitech Z680 ... and it is everything you could want. ... Search the web for reviews about the PRO HIFI-Link. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Excellent Speakers, Amazing Sound
Review: These speakers give truly high definition audio. Being THX certified, its no surprise. The sub-woofer is hyperactive so I keep it at one level above minimum and it blends in perfectly with the sound. The sound card connecters are not very good and at the first shot I ended up getting sound only from 3 speakers and the subwoofer. Then after pressing the connectors in harder they clicked properly into place and the sound was perfect. I've read some reviews online that state that these speakers emit a hisssing sound even when not being used. I was able to get rid of that problem by using lower impedance cables from the sub-woofer to the speakers. Also, using optical connection makes the music sound way better.
To give you some idea of the power of the speakers, let me tell you this - I live on the first floor of my building and have a friend who's on the fourth floor. I was able to wake him up from sleep just by turning the volume to 3/4th the full. He thought there was an earthquake. Now that's something really amazing.

Summary: Vibration Noise From Funnel of Subwoofer
Review: After 3 weeks of using the z-680 on a DVD Player, the z-680 started to develope a sever hum from the plastic funnel on the side of the subwoofer. I recommend using the Creative Inspire 6.1 6700 system. I have used the Creative 6700 for about a year and no problems yet.

Summary: Read about problem with connectors to sound Card
Review: I also bought the Sound Blaster Audigy ZS, when first installed, the right front channel had no sound. I found out it is because the design of the connectors on the sound card was so tight, one of the connector to the sound card wasn't push in all the way. I suspended that other reviewer had the same problem that one of the channel had 50% of the output.

Summary: This baby ROCKS! ! ! !
Review: There speakerstruly have made my bedroom a true ROCK STATION (try playing Chemical Brothers - Under The Influence and let the windows cripple to dust). There's some things I read about this speaker system I would like to clarify:

-some people complain about a hissing sound. There is in fact a hiss comming out of the satellites, but IT'S NOT A PROBLEM FROM THE SPEAKERS, it's a problem with the source. Check your source and the connection which you are using. I plugged these babies to my laptop (lousy sound card) and the hiss was quite annoying esp. at high volumes, but then I plugged them to my DVD player and the hissing dissappeared completely. I tried a PS2 and no hiss either, so I came to the conclusion that the speakers themselves DON'T PRODUCE ANY HISS.
-These speakers are LOUD. But when I mean loud, I mean LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUDDDDDDDDDD. If you are looking for a speaker system for a small room or just for ambient hearing, you might want to look at Altec Lansing speakers, which sound just as good but no even remotly as loud. The bass sounds OK even at 100% volume and 100% bass (don't try this for a long time or you will pop the speaker). But you don't need to get above 30% bass in order to feel the windows shaking.
-The bass doesn't sound equally loud at frecuencies (try the CB song I recommended above) but honestly, I've heard and tested at least a couple docen commercial home speakers and they all have had this flaw. Only professional or semi-professional speakers (Bose for example) eliminate this volume change. Don't let this be a put-down when thinking of buying this system.
-The only CON if found is the weight. When my girlfriend them to me, the box was so huge and so heavy I needed help loading it in my car. This is because the bass is HEAVY. But when you hear ir roar, you'll see why. =)

If you want a home theather and don't want to go as far 4 digit prices, this is the choice to make. Hook up to 4 devices at a time and change the input with a single click from the remote (you can do EVERYTHING with the remote). Loud, crystal clear sound; deep, loud bass; no distortion at any volume level...what more can a humble man ask? The price is excellent for what you'll get.

Finally, forgive my lousy english (me don't speak english regularly)

Summary: Probably excellent
Review: Recently I wrote a complaint about two sets of Logitech Z628 speakers I installed with my new Audigy 2 ZS Pro sound card. I complained that both sets were defective in the left rear channel. I returned both sets to Amazon. They took them back without any question. It appears I may have been wrong. I am now using another brand of speakers with the same overall effect I had with the Logitechs. I am bewildered by this since a test with earphones in each of the three analog out (front, center and rear) outputs on the sound card showed no discrepancy. This was the test Creative told me to use to verify that their sound card wasn't the problem. However, with the any speaker system hooked up, the left rear channel is weaker. I am sorry for blaming Logitech since even with another brand of speaker I have the same problem. I was only trying to be helpful. At this point, I am even reluctant to blame Creative. I just don't know what the problem is. Sorry for any incontinence I may have caused.

I apologize to Logitech and Amazon and to you the other Amazon customers. Maybe Amazon will pull my first opinion.

Summary: 1 WORD - AWESOME
Review: I was expecting much less for the moderate price. I was totally blown away. I coupled this with an Creative Audigy 2 card ($90), this system is as good as my bose surround sound. The bass is unbelievable. I wholly recommend.

Summary: Awesome Speakers
Review: If your willing to spend another 175 bucks go for the Klipsch 5.1. I tried out the Logitech Z680 and compared to the Z5300s, these speakers blow them out of the water. There is some hissing noise heard when no sound is playing but it can be expected with speakers this powerful. The remote control and optical out show that these speakers can be hooked up with pratically anything! I got this with the Sound Blaster Audigy ZS and boy 24 bit sound rocks! Amazon delivered these speakers three days ahead of schedule awesome!

Summary: Totally awesome 5.1 setup!!
Review: I did my research before I bought these, and made a lot of mistakes. I bought a lot of other rigs before I finally turned my attention to the Z-680's.
Firstly let me just say the Amazon price is incredible within itself. I am a cheap-skate and I bought these. MSRP is 399 do the math.
When I first got the HUGE box, right off I knew I was getting what I paid for.
Setup was a snap. I had to get the "AR Digital Optical Cable" and 16 gauge wire from the shack. I use this setup purely for movies on my notebook. These in collaboration with my SB Audigy 2 makes for a deadly combination.
As previously reported by others, there was a hissing noise, I dont have that, infact I dont have any problems, just sweet, ear shattering, head pounding sound.
oh and the woofer dont even get me started, its incredible-put it under you bed and--SWEET VIBRATIONS--
Being in a dorm room most of you college people know that a single room can be quite small, so these are more than enough sound.

after all this how are the neighbors gonna know I sent all that extra money, the little bag ((T H X))
In conclusion get these while the price is still 274 w/ free shipping. Speaking of free shipping bought mine on the 1/21 got them on 1/23 amazing. Free and efficient usually cant be said in the same sentence when it comes to shipping.
get these now of forever kick yourself like that guy in the shopping.com commercial.

SWEET RIG ABSOLUTELY NO COMPLAINTS HERE--NY, NY
