Review: I bought these speakers to use with my DVD player and Xbox. I considered a component 5.1 system, but I didn't want to spend the money for one, and since I live in an apartment, I don't really have the room for separates anyway.I had some doubts as to how these computer speakers would sound in a pretty large room (14'x20'). Well, the Z-680s erased my doubts. These things can play LOUD, and the subwoofer is really too powerful for my apartment setup. I was also concerned that the speakers would be tuned for the near-field, since they *are* computer speakers. But in fact they sound excellent even when you're sitting 8-10 feet away from the satellites. I had read some complaints about the satellites, but to my ear they sound great. My complaints:
1) Subwoofer is too loud. Even turned almost all the way down, it tends to overpower music. On the other hand, it's great for movies. Maybe I need to experiment with subwoofer placement. 2) The LCD panel can be hard to read. I have it about 5 feet away from my couch, and I can't read it from there. But this is really a nit-pick. Overall, this is the best set of speakers for the money. You could probably spend twice as much on a home theater in a box setup and still not have the same sound quality. I am very impressed with the Z-680s and would highly recommend them.

Review: Before I bought these sweet speakers, I was convinced that I would need to get an expensive audio/video reciever, and big floor standing speakers to have big clean surround sound, and I was wrong.
I read the reviews on these speakers and became interested in them, so I went to best buy to hear them. They almost killed me that they sounded so awesome! I went to amazon.com immediatly and took advantage of their unbeatable price on these!
Ever since I got them I have watched a movie almost every day amd I am blown away as to how loud these are, how much bass it can handle, and how clear the sound is.
2 of my friends are now saving their money so that they can get a set of their own, and my parents will be getting a set for them selves!
If you want surround sound for your dvd played, computer, xbox, and/or your ps2, and you don't want to spend hunderds and hundreds of dollars, then this is it! These are the best PC speakers I have ever used or heard! The set is also a very compact home theater system, and it takes up almost no space. These speakers are a must buy!

Review: Withe two kinds of hardware sound decode, include THX and Dobly Digic, and cool skin design, plus powerful sound output, the only thing you may feel un-perfect is its price. But nothing is perfect, if you can afford its price, this speakers must be your best choice^^

Summary: Impressive...
Review: Honestly, Logitech would not have been my first choice for speakers. They are not really known for speakers, in my opinion. At first, I was searching for speakers from the top-selling brands. I can't say which brands because most likely they'll be edited out of the review. Anyway, I found many great speaker sets from the "world-reknown" brands from all over...but I could not find one I liked that came with a wireless remote (and in my budget)! That's when I ran into these Z680's. I thought to myself, "Fair price, THX-Certified, 'Award-Winning', good reviews...OK, let's go for it." And I certainly don't regret it at all! I have this hooked up to my PC and DVD player. With the convenience of a wireless remote, I'm able to watch DVD movies without having to get up, walk to my speaker and manually turn the dial every time the phone or doorbell rings or if I want to listen to music on my PC.
I could ramble on for paragraphs stating how awesome the sound quality is and how much the bass thunders, but I figure the last couple hundred reviews covered that. I'm just here to say it's worth it. It's got all you need. It's convenient to set up and use. Everything is made to be customized (you can purchase longer wires to extend the satellites out further). Don't rely on the leading brand names. In this day and age, every competitor is catching up in every aspect. Looks like Logitech made an impression with these speakers. They sure did on me and hundreds of other reviewers. Up until now I only knew Logitech for mice and webcams.

Summary: Good Deal, but....
Review: Overall a great speaker package, blows the crappy stereo speakers on my Samsung PLANO TV away, but I am pissed at the false advertising. My friend got a Panasonic home theater system that had better DVD playback for around the same price. It has Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby Pro Logic II, and MPEG sudio support... if your using the 6-channel direct output. Otherwise your forced to use Stereo, Stereo x2, Dolby Pro Logic II Movie, or Dolby Pro Logic II Music settings. These settings were made to simulate 6 sound channels from two.

It doesn't make sense. While this is a great choice for PC users with a 6-Channel soundcard, music listener with an optical output player, or those few willing to spend $250 or more on a rare 6-channel output DVD player, if looking for something for the theater movies sound go with a reciever instead, if your looking for something to enhance consoles games (Gamecube, X-BOX, PS2) I would go with a reciever or speaker package with an RCA (red & white plug) input.

Summary: Z680 Speakers are AWESOME!!!
Review: I have not experienced any of the problems others have had. I have not experienced any white noise. The speakers have a nice crisp clean sound but the subwoofer is overpowering so I turned it down. I bought these exclusivly for my home entertainment system and I am not disappointed.

Summary: Excellent system for the price
Review: This is an excellent system considering all the features you get for the price. I bought it to replace the Altec Lansing ACS54, and what an upgrade it is. There are a few compliants I do have with this system. The constant hissing is a nuisance (though it's almost inaudible over computer noise and usually unheard when anything's playing), but I've heard that if you bug Logitech hard enough they'll send you an upgraded control unit that solves the problem. The other problem is that sounds are a bit muddled unless you remove the satellite covers (I got this idea from one of the numerous z680 reviews). With certain instrumental pieces, it sounds almost like a completely different system. (I keep my on because I'm afraid I'd do something stupid and break it.) But on the bright side look what you do get: Coax and Optical digital connections and the standard 3 port analog connection,DTS and Dolgy Digital Decoding, and Dolby Prologic II encoding in music and movie modes and of course THX certification (though I consider that more marketing than anything else). Sound quality is of course top notch compared to most other computer systems, comparable to that offered by the high-end Megaworks and Klipsch sets though I do have a few nitpicks. Removing the cover helps sound brightness though the highs still seem to roll off when approaching the upper limit (maybe it's just a placebo effect). The bass is awesome, but sometimes I find it too awesome; it completely drowns out the satellites. The Klipsch isn't without faults either; I'm not a big fan of its sub or its performance at high valume. The Megaworks have excellent satellite performance, and the bass is tighter, but somewhat lacking in games and movies (and I use that term loosely; none of these systems have lacking bass compared to your mid-to-low range computer speakers). Granted no computer speakers are going to equal high-end home audio setups, but these 3 sets come the closest, though each has its own quirks. The price and features provided by the Z680s swung my opinion.

Review: If you are looking at any other home theater system in the range of $270, STOP! You have found what you are looking for. This system is phenomenal, with features that rival home theater sets costing more than twice as much. The sound is amazing, and there is plenty of it; 505 watts RMS(continuous power). This system will rattle the china out of your cabinet, no doubt. The sub is 185 watts, when most systems around $500 feature a 100-watt sub. It has all the inputs and features you could want, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, Dolby Pro Logic II, optical AND coaxial inputs for surround sound. I have my computer, tv, XBOX, PS2, and Gamecube all hooked up to this machine, and it wasn't hard at all. I have yet to venture the volume control past 60% because that is when my head starts to hurt. Movies are immersive and music sounds awesome! This system really is incomparable to anything near it's price range. Recommended without reservation.

Summary: Good satellites but the bass...oh, the bass
Review: I bought these speakers after reading the many reviews available and looking at similar products. I had recently purchased an Apple G5 and wanted a good surround system to compliment my computer. The setup of these speakers is simple enough and only took about ten minutes. here's how they rate: Satellites & center: great sound from a small body. The mids and highs are crisp (once the dust covers are removed) and the construction is sturdy. A nice touch is that all the speakers have conjfigurable stands which double as wall mounts allowing you to change the direction easily. subwoofer: the subwoofer is the only problem with the system. It sounds great, if a little boomy, during movie playback. But for listening to music it is terrible. I actually have to turn it off to listen to my favorite music or risk getting distracted by bass which is overpowering and lacking in clarity. Overall, if you are looking for a relatively inexpensive set of speakers for watching movies, these are fantastic. If you listen to a lot of music, move on to something else as you will not be pleased with the performance.

Summary: Amazing! Is there such a thing as too much power?
Review: This package provides fantastic value. It costs less and is far more powerful than surround sound systems that my friends have bought. The speakers have a great sound and are very well made. If you were to buy a similar package for the same price from another manufacturer you would get: -- significantly less power (probably 50% less)
-- a new DVD player that you probably don't need
-- a new radio tuner that you probably don't need
-- a much bigger "box" and subpar (plastic) speaker construction The only problem is that the subwoofer may be too much for your room. I installed it in a 400 sq. foot room with 15 foot ceilings and hardwood floors. I had to turn the woofer all the way down and pump up the levels of the other speakers to keep the floors from shaking! As long as you have digital outputs on your cable box and DVD player, this is the system to get.
