Summary: Really clunky
Review: I've had 2 different Canon printers, and have had perpetual printing problems with one (BJC-5000). The ink isn't too expensive, especially at warehouse clubs - but these cartridges are really a hassle, and WAY expensive.

On top of this - I've never seen or heard printers that seem to have more wasted motion. Every time you turn the thing on or off it seems to take an eternity for them to finally stop banging, clunking and spinning. Drives me nuts and probably puts more wear & tear on the parts than the printing itself!!!

Summary: Canon is the Greatest!!
Review: I've had a Canon BJC 5000 for several years and have been very pleased with both it's performance and it's printing capabilities. This wide format printer (Canon replaced it in their product line with the BCJ 5100) prints awesome photos, from large (11 x 14) to small (4 x 6). The printer's only drawback is the cost of the ink cartridges and the fact that they are not individually replaceable. I recently had a failure of the BJC 21e cartridge but ended up buying another printer before I discovered that the printer was fine and that it was only the print head that had failed. A new BJC 21e is all that was necessary to get the printer up and running again. I am please as punch with the printer and, since this should be a review of the BJC 21e cartrige, I find Canon Ink cartridge products second to none!! ps. Another reviewer mentioned loud noises and rumbling when she turned her printer on ... if the printer is plugged into an "always live" outlet, these noises should not occur, and never have with my BCJ 5000. pps. I've replaced the BJC 21 and BCJ 21c in excess of 15 times and have only now (several years later) found the need to replace the whole BJC 21e.

Summary: This ...
Review: I've have this cartridge for over 2 years now and have changed the ink tanks about 4 or 5 times. Then, all of a sudden, tha damn thing doesn't print any blue. I tried everything I could think of to try to save it, and nothing works. Now I'm forced to spend almost another $... to buy a new cartridge just for the ink head. That .... Canon better get their stuff together and start making products that last. Or else they're gonna lose even more customers.

Summary: BC-21e is [bad]
Review: I, like other reviewers, have had my BJC-5100 printer for about two years. I am completely satisfied with it's overall performance and quality of print, except for this damned BC-21e.
I've only changed the ink containers three times and suddenly this week I saw a message on the screen "You don't have a cartridge in chamber #1, put one in." B.S., of course there is a cartridge in chamber #1. I removed and re-installed it a few times with no change in the message. To determine if it was the cartridge or possibly the printer itself that was bad, I put the BC-23 cartridge in chamber #1 and it worked fine. I went to two computer stores expecting to be able to buy a new BC-21e cartridge, but I find out that it was only available with a whole load of fresh ink; B.S. I have a color and black cartridge that are practically brand new, all I want is the damned empty BC-21e cartridge without shelling out for ink I don't need.
Well, Canon has me right where they want me; I had no choice but to buy the whole package..., and bite the bullet.
Canon had better get their heads out of the sand and offer an EMPTY BC-21e cartridge or they are going to have even more customers bail out, including me. It won't do any good to switch brands of printers because everyone of the manufacturers have an INK scam up their sleeve. It's no wonder the re-fill ink industry is thriving, especially Fillmore Inkjet Refills.

Summary: BC-21e cartridge expensive, junk
Review: My condolonces if you own any Canon printer that uses this cartridge. It is so unreliable. I've seen 2 BC-21e cartridges (not to be confused with the ink tanks that go in it) fail, after very light use - after just a few replacements of the ink tanks. There's no excuse for a $50 "non-disposable" part to fail so readily, after barely any use. The Multipass C-530 printer only cost $, so we won't be throwing good money after bad. NO MORE Canon printers! Next time it's an HP or Epson. (Had an Epson Stylus Color for 5+ years before I gave it away, still working good as new.) If you only print occassionally, inkjets in general are not the way to go. Laser printers are much more dependable, and can sit around longer and still work when you need them.

Summary: Cool
Review: The refilling of the ink cart can save lots of money, but once it breaks....
