Summary: Stunning
Review: The setup of the printer is a piece of cake, just follow the quick setup guide and it will do just fine.
The first glance at all the options (if you are new to photo printing like I am) is overwhelming and I wasted two glossy 4*6 papers to get the settings right for a borderless landscape print.
BUT when the final result came out I was very impressed, thinking about a printer a friend showed me, done by a [$] Epson photo printer (sorry, can't remember the model). And of course, the speed is also amazing, but that was not the major feature for this purchase.
I wanted a pure photoprinter in a reasonable pricerange, without fancy disaply and different card readers, which I do not have.
If you are looking for something similar: I am still blown away !

Summary: Good bye photo store
Review: What can I say, this is one fantastic printer. Having tried a few other photo inkjets over the past few years, I was beginning to think that I'd never get photo store quality in a home inkjet. This printer proves that is possible.

Using the i960 in conjunction with Photoshop Elements 2.0, I am getting fantastic results. And this printer is amazing fast, taking something like 30 seconds to print a 4x5 print. Despite its high quality, it is pretty stingy on its ink consumption. I've printed more than 75 4x5s and the ink levels are not down very much.

Plus, with 6 seperate ink cartridges, you can just replace the one ink color that is depleted, vs. the other printers that I've used where you have a single cartridge and wind up tossing away a lot of usable ink.

One suggestion, go into the color settings and under manual, engage the ICM feature. This uses predefined color settings to match your output with industry standardized colors. No clue why this is not the default. Also, it is worthwhile to adjust your monitor, either with Adobe Gamma (its free with Adobe Elements and Photoshop), or with a purchased product (like the Sypder). I used the Spyder and my color output is very close to what I see on the screen.

This is one great printer: fast, economical, and excellent quality. I have read that the inks can be prone to fading over time when not protected in an album or behind glass. That does not deter me, as I tend to use one of those when I save photos. Besides, I can always send out the few prints for display to an online photo service (I like Ofoto).

This is a great purchase.

Summary: THE BEST PHOTO PRINTER YET!
Review: I've owned about 6 or 7 ink jet photo printers over the past 5 years, mostly Epson's, and this Canon blows them all away! Absolutely the best resolution, color and speed possible. The speed and quality floored me. This one is truly a "no brainer" purchase.

Summary: Awesome!
Review: Bought the Canon G5 and i960 printer together. The G5 is great--no complaints--but the i960 is a revelation! Had been using an Epson 785photo printer for 1-2 years and the Canon is 1) faster, 2) quieter, 3) better software, 4) easier to use, 5) lets you print pictures directly from the camera (at least with the G5), 6) has a useful 4X6 slot for direct printing of 4X6 prints and 7) oh, did I mention the pictures? They are fabulous! Far, far better than what I'd been getting with the Epson and I've compared identical pictures on both printers. Prints are sharp and vivid with rich colors that I hadn't thought capable in a photo printer. It's not a printer for text, but for those looking for a quiet, fast, reasonably priced, high quality photo printer, you must check this one out.

This is a truly awesome photo printer that has exceeded my expectations in every respect.

Summary: Excellent value, high quality output and quiet operation
Review: I upgraded from an H-P Deskjet 722C so admittedly I probably wasn't too hard to please but I am also something of a cynic and a perfectionist. The Canon has surprised me very pleasantly. The drivers and printing software work flawlessly on my Windows XP equipped laptop. I am using the USB 2.0 high speed port and printing is very very fast. The print quality on Canon Pro 8x10 paper is excellent and I would be confident in framing such prints and hanging them on the wall. While a minute examination of the prints will give away their ink jet origins it really doesn't matter since they have a quality of their own that does not detract from the image and may even contribute to them in some cases.
Sealing the deal is the reasonable price on this printer, very quiet operation, ease of use, good quality text output and a pleasant and attractive design.
I highly recommend to all amateur digital photgraphers who want to print at home.

Summary: photo printer virgin
Review: After doing a lot of research, i thought that the i960 was the best printer out there especially since i just bought a canon s400. they are offering a $50 rebate if you recently purchased a canon digital camara. the software is easy to use as another reviewer said and the prints on the canon photo paper pro are incredible. we just had a newborn and honestly my friends and family couldn't believe my pics were from a photo printer. i heard that the quality on the photo paper plus from canon was equally as good, however the paper isn't as thick. do not use HP paper with this printer. maybe i just didn't use the proper settings, but it looked pixelated.

overall, buy this printer if you're in the market for one. you'll love it

Summary: IMPRESSIVE!
Review: I upgraded from my Epson Stylus 880 because of the $50 rebate Canon had when you purchase the i960 with a A70. The i960 offered a dual paper tray (4x6 photo and letter/legal/etc type paper) which is nice and also a much higher print quality.

Also the multi ink tanks are great for economy over having to toss a combo cartridge due to only one color dying, plus it has an easily replacable print head.

The printer is quiet even in non-quiet mode, prints quickly and accurately....I did a quick photo print and compared it to the original photo I scanned in and it was hard to tell which was which...

I would say this printer would be all anyone would ever need for home use, if high volume text is needed get a cheap monochrome laser. It also has a PICTBRIDGE port on the front panel if you have a digicam that supports it (I do but don't use it). I haven't played with all the features yet, but supposedly it can print directly on CD's and DVD's.

I am really happy with this purchase.

Summary: Best photoprinter. Period.
Review: Amaze your friends, amaze your family. The i960 outputs photolab quality prints in 37 seconds for 4x6. After owning an HP Photosmart P1000 and an Epson 1290, I was used to great prints. However, the i960 raises the bar for detail, vivid colors and speed. And the PictBridge feature is nice - plug your camera right into it without using your computer (if your camera supports it).

Summary: OH MY GREAT PRINTER
Review: Using it to print pictures from my Nikon D100 and they are just fantastic. Get borderless 4 x 6 prints. The Photo Paper Plus is really good, would like for it to bet just a tad heavier in weight though. Printer is jsut great. Easy to setup and get going. Printing is very quiet and fast, only minus is the noise when feeding paper at the start of printing, but hey so was my HP 952c.

Summary: Two words... Simply Amazing!!!
Review: I tried my friend's i950 and it looked pretty good then although you can see the bumps on the ink. I waited over 1 month for this printer and my expectations were high. Fortunately, everything was met! I'm simply amazed by the quality. I have the Canon S50 which I use to take photos @ it's highest res (25xx by 15xx). They look exactly like the photos I get from a photo store.

I also got some bulk ink from ........ and can't wait to use. Hopefully this will drive down the costs of printing. But, it's great that I can take pictures and "develop" them whenever I want.

The extra 4x6 paper loader is great and so is the 2 USB ports for USB 2.0 and USB 1.1. I would highly recommend the 2.0 since it does speed up my print jobs when I'm print 20 or so photos.
The software package is above average (although they could improve it more since it's annoying having to click on a small thumbnail) to view a semi-full size.

I haven't used the PictBridge option that allows my camera to tell the printer to print. I'm not too fond of this because I like to see the pictures on my 21" monitor before printing them. With one little LCD on the printer(this printer has no LCD but that's good because it probably saved us $$ or more) or camera you won't notice if the picture is out of focus so to save you time and money view it on a real monitor.

Overall, I highly recommend this. I can't wait to go to work and show pictures of my puppy to all my coworkers!
