Summary: great MP3 player
Review: I spent a lot of time researching on MP3 players before getting this one and it ends up ABOVE my expectation. I am glad that I picked this one. The great things about this player:
- It has all the up-to-date features - line in, voice/audio/FM recording, light weight(even WITH an AAA battery), GREAT sound, etc, etc...
- the line-in jack on the player is a regular sized one (3.5mm, same as a regular speaker phone jack). For such a small MP3 player, that means you can plug most audio sources directly into this player without an extra adaptor.
- can be used as a portable mass storage device. I have Windows 98SE, and the driver for Win98 took less than a minute to install. WinXP shouldn't require any software.
- JetShell, the software that comes with the package, is NOT required but I use it for extracting audio CDs to MP3s, and I found the audio quality of the 128bps clips VERY good, better than other extracting tools I used. Some things I wish I had on this player:
- NO change of color on LCD screen because that just takes up space: this is supposed to be a 512MB player but the actual free space you can use is a little more than 480MB.
- AC adaptor. Two hours of playing drained about 1/3 of the AAA battery life.
- Easier access to USB port - right now I have to open the battery cover to connect it. When you slide open the battery cover, it's very easy to accidentally press the buttons lining up on both sides of the player.
