Summary: Great player, but a few problems
Review: I have been using this player pretty regularly and am happy with it for the most part. A few problems though:
- The download software doesn't display correctly on my computer. I have a mainstream HP computer running win ME. But the display is messed up; buttons in the wrong place, etc. I can still make it work, but it is annoying. I downloaded the latest version today and re-installed; same problem.
- The "random" function is touchy. This function may be more important to me than it is to others (but I hate knowing the order in which to expect songs). If you never pause or adjust the player in any way, then it seems to go through the whole list of songs without repeating. But if you press any buttons, then it re-starts the list and plays recently-played songs.
- The display is difficult to read; not that big a deal to me.
- The earphones they ship with is useless; plan to get your own.

Summary: Ripflash is a fine product
Review: I use the Ripflash for recording portions of classes I attend. The recording function is very simple to use at low bit rates. It can record for many, many hours. It is also easy to use as a portable mp3 music player. Make sure you download the latest software from the Pogo website link -- otherwise you may have problems. The only other thing to watch for is the built-in microphone. It doesn't pick up loud sounds very well -- they come across on playback with annoying static. But normal single voices record well, as do far off sounds.

Summary: A Big Bang for Your Buck
Review: This player devlivers everything that the editorial claims, I decided to go with the 64mb to save a little money. I believe either option is good. I have never owned an MP3 player and have found this one very easy to use. I immediatly used it to record some songs from a portable cd player, and it worked flawlessly. The quality of sound is very good. The voice recorder is also very clear. The option to record at different bit rates is also helpful to conserve space. I do not have a USB port on my computer yet, but I was eaisly able to hook it up to the speaker port on my computer and record songs from the internet. The versatility of this product is its strongest selling point. The option of adding a 128mb smart media card is very nice if you wish to save more than is provided in the internal memory.

Summary: Amazing mp3 player
Review: The RipFlash 128MB Digital Voice Recorder and MP3 Player/Recorder by PoGo! Products is a very good buy.
Some of the other reviews had some cons: 1. small display-- The display is not that small!! After about 5 minutes of reading the instructions I understood it.
2. it doesn't show song names--Names of songs aren't really needed that much, they are needed in a mp3 jukebox.
3. the speaker is small--The speaker is small but gets reasonable (mono) sound, remember it wasn't designed as a home entertainment center.
4. it doesn't mute-- The sound does mute, all you have to do is turn down the volume until the sound goes off. Pros: 1. the player isn't too small. (you can actually see the buttons)
2. the player can take up to 128mb of extra memory
3. it doesn't cost much
4. long battery life
5. very good equalizer
6. the voice recorder (more of an extra feature than main purpose)

Summary: No Windows XP, No Customer Service
Review: Be aware if two things regarding this unit. It does not support Windows XP so you might have trouble using it on that operating system. But more troublesome is that this outfit has minimal, near zero customer service. Go to their website (you'll have to do a search as I did not find it noted in the documentation). Their FAQ section has a wopping TWO questions and answers. Anything else and you need to 'contact' them via email. Only problem is I have never been able to get a response. Buy this unit if you must, but be prepared to go it alone if you have problems.

Summary: Great MP3
Review: Great product! I am a musician and can transfer my demos from an 8 track to a cd. It comes with Real Jukebox! Which can rip your cd's. It is a fun product and I use it everyday. I especially like the fact that I can transfer vinyl and tapes with ease. Small and compact I love the great sound you get from the MP3's!!! THUMBS UP!!!

Summary: Good voice recorder
Review: I purchased the Ripflash as a voice recorder and it works. The internal microphone works well and can record soft voices. However, I could not get enough volume from my external microphone. If you use the internal microphone, it will pick up any movement of your hand on the recorder. Voice activation works reasonably well. Documentation is not good but the machine is not that complicated. If you want to erase a file, the manual tells you to choose "Del" from the menu, but does not explain that you must double-click the play button to delete the track.

Summary: Good device
Review: The ripflash is a good device. you get two gadgets for the price of one. It is a Descent MP3 Player and a very good recorder. I was able to make clear 192kbps recordings right out of the box. The MP3 software was easy and simple to use, just click on the song you want and upload. The only complaints I do have is, the MP3 options. There is no mute option or a pause option (maybe I didn't figure it out yet, just got it) also the Menu display is poor, it doesn't tell you the name of the song just the lenght and track number, but these minor issues aside this is a very good device. I would recommend this to everyone.

Summary: Recording 19 hours of talk radio
Review: A great device with some bugs that you have to work around. I have no USB port so use it self-contained as a recorder
for Imus in the Morning (it ends up holding about 19 hours
at 16kbs, which is fine for voice). You have to record line-in and play line-out to a good
sound system but it works fine then. The on-board microphone
is disappointing; the on-board speaker is tinny but I don't imagine
it's designed for listening anyway. Some bugs: 1. If the battery dies during recording, you lose not only
that recording but every following one will not work right.
Apparently some memory pointer is hosed by this event. The eventually found fix was to clear memory and then
record a full memory of 1.5 hrs at 192kbs. Then erase that
and you're good to go. Possibly formatting the memory from
your USB port achieves the same fix, but I have no USB port. So don't let the batteries die during recording! A pair of
NiMH rechargeable AAA's lasts about 5 hours, so start with
fresh ones accordingly. I'd rate it as a major battery eater,
so rechargeables are necessary. 2. The sound does not mute on recording from line-in, which
reduces battery life to about 3 hours from 5. Plug in an
unattached 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to mute it. I haven't used it for music but its higher bit rates seem to
be fine. Inconveniences: It's hard to pick it up without unintentionally
pushing some button or other. For dictaphone work something like the Panasonic RR-QR400 is
better engineered and smaller, by the way, though that has less
inherent sound quality and only an hour at the high decent rate.
The microphone and human engineering are better in the Panasonic.
