Summary: no more than what I expected
Review: As often as I shop at amazon, I never wrote a single review. But buying this product was the biggest investment I made online. So I thought I should write something incase anybody who is interested in purchasing this player cares about my opinion. I did some research, but never owned another mp3 player to make a close comparison. There were plenty of other alternatives such as the hip zip or the archos jukebox with 6gb of storage space. So far, I can say that the Intel player is easy to use, has decent battery life (was about 8 hours with the way I used it), and charges in less than 2 hours. I felt that the 128MB of built-in memory (actually 125.5MB) should be enough considering how fast it takes to transfer files. Personally, for "on the go" purposes, I didn't think I need more than 2 to 4 hours of music. One exception I can think of, that would make me lean towards the archos jukebox (with 6gb storage), is if I travel or exchange a lot of files with friends etc. But when I travel away from home for a long time, I usually carry a laptop anyway. As far as the hip zip goes, I wasn't sure how shock-resistant it is compared to the built-in memory. But so far, I haven't heard hip zip owners complain about skipping problems. I think the slightly smaller size of the Intel Pocket Concert was more appealing to me than having two 40mb disks, (which is less than the built-in 128mb in the pocket concert anyways). Intel's player also sounds pretty damn good for something that gives out some hissing noise (yes...the other reviewers weren't lying). And this hissing noise is the only thing that bothers me. Even though it isn't noticeable during play, I think it could annoy people who listen to tracks that have many quiet intervals. I felt that intel couldn't have left a problem like this alone. But I guess they did. The hiss should take off 1/2 star. I just gave it 5 because it doesn't bother me with the type of music I listen to. But for recommendation purposes, I guess the hissing should be weighed a little. I didn't bother to include the headphones in the rating criteria (it would be another 1/2 points off). I knew I would be getting a much better one. There's nothing wrong with how they sound (pretty close to sony's behind the neck headphones MDR-G72 which sounds very good with it), but they aren't as comfortable or light as the sony. Another thing that might be worth mentioning, is that it doesn't fold like the sony or some other headphones with similar designs. The Audio Stereo Dock and rechargable batteries are convenient accessories. I recommend getting the player and accessory kit together IF you must buy this product. I'm glad I did. If the price of the player with accessory kit package sounds like a rip-off (and it probably is), I think the nomad 2 is a better alternative. The memory is expandable on the nomad2 as well. Oh, and lastly, I read many reviews regarding how fragile the headphone jacks were. Well, I didn't have this problem. In fact, it snaps in snuggly and never caused any problems with the channels. I couldn't tell whether I was lucky or Intel fixed the problem. Anyhow, I'm very satisfied with this player. But is it worth over 320 bones? Nope..

Summary: "Volume increase" button failed-- no support
Review: As others have mentioned in their reviews of this product, the buttons fail; mine was the "volume increase" button. I contacted support and was immediately told this problem required replacement; Intel is well aware of the problem. However, when we determined I bought the unit 14 months ago (12 month warranty), I was refused support beyond instructions on how to take the unit apart and fix it myself. After experiencing their level of support, and reading others' comments in support of my experience, I strongly recommend against buying this item.

Summary: Very good!!!
Review: At first I was skeptical in purchasing an MP3 player but Intel definitely placed alot of thought into this brand of electronic device. I like it alot! The only fault though is the limitations to only 128mb, which means you can't upgrade it if you choose to but, the radio feature makes up for it!

Review: Excellent Product. Had the RIO 128MB for 6 months. Intel product is much better for several reasons: 1. It works (sent RIO back once and battery never charged fully)
2. Accessory Kit is excellent addition
3. Easy to Use
4. Alot of memory
5. FM Tuner so you can listen to TVs in your workout gym Sound is excellent on both products. Yeah the headphones on the Intel are funky but my focus is the quality of the unit itself and the ease of use...

Summary: Almost Perfect
Review: Handy, dandy, easy to you, this is the best MP3 player I have ever seen. It holds up to as many as 35 full songs, and it sounds like a dream. Headphones are weird, but you get used to them eventually. The only bad thing is the radio. It vitually is useless indoors. Other than that, this is a good item.

Summary: Intel Got it right the first time
Review: Hats off to intel this player is by far the best on the market. The selling point that sold me on a mp3 player was no moving parts! Great that means there is nothing to break? Wrong after owning 3 Rio's 800 and going through numerious problems with built in battery, degrade in music quality. I switched to the Intel. The only thing that I liked better about the RIO was the ergonomic style and the carrying case. I wish Intel provided a better method for the on go person the carrying case (pouch) is not pratical for the athelete and if it isn't fully zipped that mp3 players shinny case can get scratched quickly when it falls out on the pavement. I use mine every day for 1 to 2 hours and have owned it for the past 6 months and it works great. I wish I could report the same for the RIO

Summary: Fantastic small MP3 Player
Review: I bought this player for my 11 year old daugther. She started using it imediately with no help from me. The MusicMatch software included, allowed her to pay her favorite CDs on the Intel MP3 Player, and mine also. It is small and lightweihgt, and she easely takes it everywhere. The cassete adapter allows us to hear digital music on the car.

Summary: nice package. fm basically useless.
Review: I bought this player so I could supplement my NPR listening when their didn't interest me. The FM reception (except for the cheesiest of stations) blows. If you plan on standing next to the transmitter tower, you might be OK. The little pouch that comes with the player is oversized & has a little pouch to hold expansion cards, but the player isn't expandable. There may be better players out there!

Summary: TERRIBLE!!!!
Review: I bought this product a year and a half ago and so far have had to cash in on the warranty 3 times to get a replacement player. This was not after hard use- more like taking it to the gym 3 or 4 times. This product is a lemon- no wonder Intel is getting out of the business!
