Summary: Great Player (once you get adjusted to it)
Review: It took a while, but I now love my Yepp. I use better headphones than the ones supplied and I don't use the remote control at all. I find that mp3's play louder without the remote in. So that solved a problem for me. The controls on the main unit are just as good, once you remember them. I like how the play/stop button toggles up and down to go up or down a track. I also like the FM tuner. I don't know why more mp3's don't come with that. I recommend considering this player. Just keep in mind that you may want to use different headphones and you may want to use it without the remote.

Summary: NOT Mac-supported
Review: I bought this player for two reasons - 1) it came with an FM radio which I want when I travel 2) it is supposedly Mac-compatible. After an hour of messing around with it, I called support (and got help on the second try). The guy said that they were not going to support it for iTunes 2, so if you've stayed current with the Mac software, you cannot use this player. I found an old version of iTunes, which did work with the player, but you still cannot use the 2x compression, which was another selling factor for me. Too bad, I liked the unit, but need one that will be supported!

Summary: Player good- Software stinks
Review: I was happy with the player itself, but the software is terrible so I have to return the player. The software crashs my PC every time I try to scan my hard drive for new songs. It also does not read the MP3 files properly and therefore you have to rename all of the files if you care about what the titles are. Too bad- its a fine player but if I can't use the software I can use the player.

Summary: A Good Player with Minor Drawbacks
Review: After a great deal of research over the past 6 months I decided upon the YP-700H because it came with 128MB onboard memory, has an expansion slot, FM Tuner and remote. Software intall was smooth (Win98SE) and the transfer software was somewhat easy to learn. The sound is great, however, there is noticable volume loss when using the remote even though the remote displays the same volume number level as the main unit. I tested this by unplugging the remote and using direct headphones to the unit (sound was considerably improved). Battery life has been excellent so far - charging time is very quick with the supplied wall/outlet battery charger. Headphones/earbuds are poor and sound quality is bad. I immediately replaced them with Sony earclip-style. Overall, I think this is a good player for the money and I am very satisfied with it.

Summary: The player is great - if you get it to work at all
Review: I bought one and was all excited about it. Unfortunately, I was never able to get the thing to work properly. The software it comes with is really, really lousy to begin with. Bad doesn't just mean it is hard to use. It means it crashes in the middle of downloading to the player very, very often. You HAVE to use the software they give you as far as I could tell. One time it downloaded an MP3 and it crashed the player so that it wouldn't start-up properly anymore (it would hang as soon as it'd turn on). I've given up and returned the item. It's too bad because the player's design is super nice.

Summary: I say MAYBE to Yepp!!!
Review: I had written a great review of this player, but I have since HAD 2 INCIDENCES WHERE THE PLAYER FROZE. The first time I was able to erase all files on the player and start all over again. The second time, the player would START-UP and FREEZE and there is nothing I can do. There is no way to reset the player and no way to reformat the player when it's in that state. This player is BEING RETURNED. I am going to get another one and hope it's just a freak thing, ... _________________________________________________________ I needed a small, flash based player that could also accept memory cards (SMC's). From the time I received my YP700, it took about an hour to unpack everything, download and create a playlist, load up my YP, and then go for a great, skip-free run. If anything, this player has many more features than I anticipate using but that's OK. In terms of the software, I use both the packaged software but have had no problems using Windows Media Player (WMP) and some other packages to manage files AND load them onto my YP. Some reviewers here have mentioned problems using non-Samsung software but I had no problems. I have had to use the Yepp explorer software to rearrange files and have not found a way to do that with WMP. My biggest complaint is lack of documentation (paper based or on-line) for the Yepp software. It's truly skimpy and incomplete. Hopefully Samsung addresses that. Overall this is a great product that I wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Summary: A VERY NICE portable player ideal for WMA music files
Review: In terms of size, looks and "slickness", this player takes the cake. It has a rare combination of features that are not found on any other smaller flash memory player. I use it to "discreetly" carry music to work and record meetings. Except for the earphones it is indiscernible to others. At present I only use the built in 128 MB of memory and have 50 songs stored in WMA format (64k) with room to spare for voice recording. PROS:
* Great features: 128 MB built in memory, MP3 & WMA support, voice recording, FM tuner with presets, expandable memory slot (add an extra 128 MB of storage)
* Great size: very small and light, fits nicely in a shirt pocket.
* Ni-mh rechargeable battery: good for about 12 hours of music
* AAA Battery pack to use while charging the main battery (good for about 8 hours - hence the 20 hours promised by Samsung)
* Belt clip case is very small and slick, great as an inconspicuous player carrier
* Controls are handy (once you learn them). Can access song lists, equalizer and voice recording mode all with the touch of a button.
* Great Sound - Good volume; nice clean mid's and high's with strong dynamic bass(in DBB mode)
* Supports USB 2.0 (up to 480 mbps) CONS:
* Does not include an AC adaptor (instead it provides the battery pack to use while charging the main battery)
* Supports WMA (windows media format) but does not allow a direct copy over from the media player (this is a problem more with WMP than the 700 - WMP support should be coming though).
* yepp audio software does not often recognize song info on existing music files, only reads them accurately when recorded from CD directly to yepp software (a hassle for internet audio files)
* When using the player in the carrying case with headphone, you cannot close the case, unless you plug the headphones into the remote and the remote into the player (weird oversight on Samsungs part)
* Included ear pods sound okay but are not very comfortable.
NOTE: The case closure and ear pod comfort problem can be addressed with a new set of "low profile" earphones - a standard "L" mini-jack will not work - I recommend Sony Fontopia model# MDR-EX70LP, they are small enough and sound amazing. # This player is ideal for folks who:
- Want a small discrete player
- Want voice recording capability
- Use WMA format
- Want FM tuner
- Want a rechargeable Lithium-ion battery # This player is not so good for folks who:
- Want to take a large audio collection with them
- Like MP3 format (at 128k) and don't want to change or tweak (compress) their files.
- Want data storage in addition to music
- Want seamless integration between music sharing activities (i.e. bearshare, limewire) and their player. Summary:
This is slick portable WMA device with a radio and voice recording capability.
* Hardcore MP3 audiophiles who want a small player with mega storage will probably want to look at the I-pod player and Xplay as a better solution.

Summary: WOW what a nice little gadget
Review: This is quite a fun little gadget to carry around. I use it walking around town and throughout my school. This is so much more comveinient then walking around the place with my bookload of cd's. Instead of the cd's, turn songs from some favorites into mp3's or wma's (personally I like wma because more songs can be fitted onto the device). Unfortunately, the wma's have to be on the computer BEFORE the hardware or software is installed, because it will not recognize new files. New wma's can be added, but they need to be added by searching the hard drive for tracks all over, which may take a while, depending on the speed of your processor. That is one of it's two flaws. The other one is that to turn on the FM radio feature, you must use the remote instead of just the player. Other than those minor problems, this thing works great. Pros:
:Very light; weighs about 3 ounces at most with battery
:Battery lasts about 16 hours (doesn't quite reach 20 hours)
:Battery is rechargeable
:Has a AAA battery adapter so you don't have to put the thing down while the rechargeable is powering up
