Summary: THIS IS A PERFECT INTEGRATED MP3 PLAYER
Review: THE GOOD:
--MP3 player with expandable memory, voice recorder, AND FM tuner - rare to find all three features on one device.
--Very sleek, compact design (less than three ounces)
--Remote control device makes it easy to use and travel without needing to hold the player in hand.
--The software is great, I don't know what other people are complaining about. Very user friendly.

THE BAD:
--The memory (128 MB/expandable) is smaller than that of hard drive players - only allows you to hold about 65 songs (but also much more light and compact, so decide what your priorities are).
--The remote control does not have all the capabilities of the actual player, and the buttons are all over the place (an occasional nuisance, but a marginal problem at worst).
--The FM tuner signal is a bit weak.
--The user's manual is most useful as a coaster on which to set your drink.

THE UGLY:
--The "2xMP3" feature simply allows you to resize MP3's based on their kbps speed...so it doesn't actually allow you to store twice as many MP3's at 128 kbps (CD quality)...it simply allows you to resize them to 64 kbps.
--Be careful not to purchase the model from Best Buy - the Best Buy version DOES NOT INCLUDE THE FM TUNER, but costs the same amount!

Overall this is a GREAT device, minor complaints here and there, but I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

Summary: Good but it could have been better
Review: This mp3 player is good but there are some things that could have been better.

GOOD...
- Built in memory (128MB) stores about 20+ songs and you can expand it by using a SmartMedia card (I would recommend a 64MB or higher), I think this is the best feature.
- Batteries (NiMH and AAA) last a long time.
- Very clear sound quality.
- FM tuner
- Voice recording
- Size and general design. It looks good, stylish, and it is also light.

GOOD BUT...

- Rechargeable battery and additional battery pack. This is a good idea, because the battery lasts about 7 to 8 hours and if it dies you can use the AAA battery pack for longer time, the thing with this is that it hangs on the side and it can be a little uncomfortable, besides it doesn't look that nice. (TIP: I would recommend using rechargeable AAA batteries. I've found that it's better to get those and a charger than buying constantly the normal AAA batteries, at least it works for me)

- Carrying case. I personally didn't like the material, I would've preferred plastic, although it's useful in case it falls because it protects the player. Also it could have been better designed, it fits the player and the additional battery pack, but the problem is you can only use it when the remote control is connected to the headphones, otherwise the case won't close.

- Remote control. This is also a nice thing, but it could have been smaller and the design different, I have seen others and they're round and smaller, which makes them more practical. The good thing is that it's really light so when you wear it your headphones won't fall because of the weight of the remote (I have seen it happen in other remotes).

BAD...

- Software. The only problem with this for me is that it's kind of slow. The uploading is fast but after it uploads a song it stops for about 5-7 seconds (of course, that could be just a problem with me and my computer).

In conclusion it's a good player when you see it in the store and at the moment you buy it (I think is because of the 128MB and expandability) and the price you pay for it is fair considering the memory and features, but it has a few things that can be annoying or just make you kind of unhappy with it after a while. For me, despite of all the "not-so-good" things I've discovered about it, it fits my needs: play lots of mp3 files with good sound quality. But if you wonder about this one try the Samsung YP-55V 256 MB. It might be as good as this or a better choice. Both have cons and pros I think.

Summary: Tiny easy to use player
Review: I've had this machine for 18 months now, never had a problem, and when I lost my original software CD a call into Samsung gave me a prompt replacement. It's small and simple, replace the headphones that come with it as they are not very good.

Summary: The bomb MP3 Player!!!!
Review: I bought this player just last week and I can't say enough good things about it. Downloading songs is so easy and fast. The LCD display is very nice. Scrolling text, adjustable fonts. Is the download speed fast you ask? A 4 MB song took me about 5 seconds or less. I heard that Sony players have to convert MP3's to their format and then download them to the player and that this process takes quite some time. The sound quality of the YP-700 is great. Did I mention that their 2XMP3 technology allows compressing an MP3 even more. This is a great memory saving feature, but don't let the 2X fool you. It doesn't mean that you can fit twice as many songs onto the onboard 128 MB memory or smartmedia card that you can later add, but still it's a great feature. I think I was able to get a 4 MB song down to about 3.4 MB. That's a 15% memory saving. I haven't had a chance or reason yet to use the external battery pack yet. The player is advertised as being capable of 20 hours of play. The internal rechargeable battery is good for 8 of those 20 hours and the external battery pack, which takes a AAA battery, is good for 12 hours, at least that's what I got from the owner's manual. Don't make the mistake of buying a different player just because you want to save 50 bucks or so. The extra money you will pay for this is well worth it. Hope this helps. Enjoy.

Summary: Great mp3 player
Review: This is a great MP3 player... I've been looking for a long time and found a great one.

Love the 128MB flash memory - I also bought a 128MB smart media card and have MORE than enough memory for my music.

Two major flaws: the CD ripper software [stinks]. It locked up my Windows 2000 machine TWICE attempting to connect to the device. I've decided to use MusicMatch to rip my CD's, and use the much more user-friendly Yepp Explorer software to actually download.

Also, the physical design of the case isn't so great. In order to use the carrying case, you must use the remote control device, so you end up having to clip the carrying case AND the remote control device onto your shorts if you're working out... not very convenient. If you try to plug the headphones directly into the MP3 player, the flap on the carrying case won't close. I ended up buying a different set of headphones, which allows me to plug directly into the mp3 player w/o using the remote control.

Overall a GREAT player. Definitely recommend it...

Summary: DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT
Review: I bought mine in January of 2003 becuase my roommate recommended this product to me becuase I was interested in an MP3 player with FM. I got it and for the first couple months, I really didn't have that many problems. But NOW I absolutely hate this machine and WOULD NOT recommend it to anyone. This FM tuner is so weak it might as well not be on there. The program to transfer music is actually not that bad-but one thing I hate about it is that it sometimes doubles up on the song if you change the name of the song-which means sometimes you transfer to the player and a song and it won't even play. Also-the headphones are the worst!! From month two the wiring started to peek through and now, the music won't play in both ears simultaneously. SO frustrating. Its ok for jogging and workouts, as I said I didn't have problems with it initially. But now, its so annoying becuase I don't get good music in both ears, there is no FM for when I run, and in general, this is just not a good buy. I would NOT recommend it. Save your money and buy a higher end MP3 player ( I bought this one refurbished on Amazon and now Samsung won't honor the warranty) like an IPOD or something.

Summary: Software is [bad]!
Review: I love the Yepp MP3 player itself. It's cool looking and has some really cool features. However, the software it comes with leaves much to be desired. The most annoying problem is how it tries to organize file names. It doesn't let you sort by date modified and tries to split the file names into track title, artist, and album. That's great if your files are ripped from a CD, but if your files are downloaded, you're out of luck. Also, the system won't let you play tracks while you're in the selection window, and since the file names get all [messed] up, you can get really mixed up and frustrated. I've tried side stepping these problems by using the Windows Media Player Portable Device function and that won't work either... some unknown error. All in all, I think one might be better off waiting a while until Samsung upgrades the software or at least lowers the price. For my money there are just too many inconveniences to make this a truly great buy.

Summary: Looks nice, but it's badly designed
Review: Pros:
The music sounds great and the amount of storage is sizable enough that you don't need to update/change the tracks frequently. The metal casing is very stylish and the dual use as a audio recorder really helps (ie. college lectures)

Cons:
The software is difficult to use because it collects a "database" of music by scanning your hard drive. Music can't be uploaded until the mp3 is in the database. If you're like me and download new music all the time, it becomes a hassle to update the database. The leather carrying case isn't designed well for headphones. The auxillary battery hangs on the edge and is a bit awkward.

OVERALL:
It's a good mp3 player if you're not going to walk around with it. Definitely NOT designed for athletic activity. Mine broke after 7 months (as many people have cited similar complaints). Consider the new smaller Mp3 players if you're an active person, or just wait and hopefully Samsung will come out with an improved version

Summary: Great Features, Poorly built
Review: Bought the Yepp 700 online exactly a year ago, and it is now broken. The battery case will not shut. (This has happened to many other customers. BUYER BEWARE.)

However, the mp3 player does have nice features.
-Good Sized Memory
256 mb is alot of storage. You can get about 70 songs with that. Buy the media card. It's cheap.
-Slick looking
The yepp is very nice looking. It is also pretty small. Good to exercise with.
-Remote control
Its nice that they put this here, but it is pretty worthless. The LCD is wothless, and the FM tuner on this is EXTREMELY WEAK!
- Voice Recorder
Good feature.

In summary, nice features, but poorly built. If you want to take a chance on the mp3 player, go right ahead.

Summary: Beware
Review: I was looking for a mid-range mp3 player; what I got was a piece of garbage. I've had it a year now and it already doesn't work. If I press the power button to turn it on, it just cycles through powering on and off. Eventually I have to pull the battery out to make it finally shut off for good. Its not like I've abused it either. I would use it may once or twice a week to and from work (maybe 40min a day); when not in use, it would sit in a drawer. The battery life is not that great either; 128mb is not enough; the accompanying software must have been written by amateurs (beware XP users). At one point the software said I needed to buy a license to use it further; this after crashing multiple times during uploading of songs. Why would I want to waste more money?

If you want a good player, spend the money for an ipod...I hear they're great; as you can read, I would give the same review for this device.
