Rating: Summary: why buy a brand new TV? Review: For a mere thirty bucks this nifty little thing lets you hook up a VCR, DVD player, video game, etc. to that ancient-yet-still-going TV you've grown very attached to but which doesn't have any RCA input plugs.
And don't worry, you can still keep your external antenna---it plugs right into the back of this box!
Phillips also makes RF modulators, I got mine from Walmart for the same price, it's got prettier Channel3/Channel4 lighs. : )
I'm sure all those slimy TV salespeople at Best Buy or Circuit City don't want you to find out about this device, though!
Rating: Summary: Great item Review: I had a 1995 tv that could not be hooked up to my Ps2. then, i got this, and it worked like a charm. VERY VERY VERY easy to use and install, and most importantly, it just plain works. Inlcudes the coaxial cable required to hook to tv. The instruction guide is useless, but honestly, you dont need it
Rating: Summary: It doesn't get much easier! Review: I purchased one of these when we wound up with an extra DVD player due to a TiVo purchase. (The TiVo has one built in! Anyway...) We moved the DVD player to our bedroom TV which is an older set--old enough that it lacks the required connections that would make it compatible with our DVD player.
One snazzy feature of this unit is its autodetect feature. It doesn't have an on/off switch--it just waits for signal to come through from the DVD player. Once it detects a signal, it turns itself on and starts outputting signal to the TV. This is especially nice for our situation, because who wants to get out from under the covers to turn on the RF modulator? Not me.
If you have an older TV that's still going strong, you really can't go wrong with this RF modulator. It's small enough that you can plug it in, tuck it behind your TV, and forget about it. I've even recommended it to my sister for the old TV in her basement that she wants to use for workout DVDs.
Keep an eye out at your local Mega-Lo-Mart for this unit--we found it for $10.
Rating: Summary: RCA quality strikes again. Review: Yep, I thought $30 was a pretty good price. I thought $25.99 on sale was better, so I bought it. Good looking, versatile, easy to use. We really liked it (frankly, we never thought about it again) for the 10 *** Months *** that it lasted. Yes, correct, months. But what can you do, there aren't a whole lot to choose from. Found a replacement for $20. Hooked it with no prob, same as before. It worked great for 4 hours and 35 minutes. Then it turned off, never to function again. Good luck finding one that works for a while.
