Review: Intel proves that it can manufacture quality audio players in addition to microprocessors. Intel's Pocket Concert 128MB Digital Audio Player came well packaged, yet easy to open and access. While there was a "Quick Start Guide" included, you really had to load the CD software to begin to figure out how everything worked. This is one area that Intel needs some improvement. But once loaded, the transfer of songs from computer to player was straightforward. The 128MB let me load about 28 songs to the player, plenty of tunes for my 3 - 4 hour plane rides. The audio is outstanding. The headphones were superb, tho I will use a Bose noise-cancelling headset on airplanes. The display was clear and the controls were straightforward and easy to use. As a plus, the unit also includes an FM radio. Reception is OK, since the player uses the headset as an antenna. But I was able to get reasonable reception using my Bose headset. All in all, Intel got it right. From microprocessors to music....Intel's inside.

Summary: Great sound; easy to use
Review: I've had the unit for several days now, and am thrilled with the overall "experience." I've been loading MP3's encoded at 128, and I've been able to stuff a little over two hours of music onto the unit. The LCD backlight is nice, and the LCD readout is simple and straightforward. I like the "jog-dial" interface for scrolling between tracks. Just a few small gripes: the FM radio button is easy to hit accidentally when putting the unit on your belt, and the belt clip is definitely not "best in class." Perhaps the biggest plus, in addition to the generous onboard storage, is the sound quality you get from the headphones. They take a little getting used to , but are comfortable and have excellent sound quality (MUCH better than the "buds" I've listened to on other players). The Intel Audio Manager software has simple, intuitive user interface (drag and drop), and loading a full 128MB onto the unit via USB only took a few minutes (I left and came back, but approximately 4-5 minutes).

Review: Everything about this MP3 player screems Buy Me! The sound quality is just excellent. It truely has a noticeable sound difference from any other high end MP3 players out there. It all comes from the High Output Amplifier with the ability to push up to 11mW , twice as much power as most players. The sounds being played will have very low distortion and background noise due to the Signal-to-TDN+N=0.4%. So all your hear is a crisp and clear sound. If thats not enough they also add an FM turner that allows you to save 10 presets. One couldn't believe how good the reception was, It feels like listening to the radio in the car. With this MP3 player space is most certaintly not an issue. This 97g lightwieght packs a hefty 128MB, which is over 4 hours of music. Thats alot of music, and it can all be transfered over its high speed USB connection! This MP3 player is most definitely worth every cent. Intel gave it the perfect name because it truely is a concert that can fit with in your pocket.

Review: I have waited a couple of years for an mp3 player. This was worth the wait! 128mb of memory so I dont need to go out and buy expensive extra memory, awesome sound due to the built in amplifier, comes with a nice set of headphones, and very easy software for transferring mp3's to the player. Did a good amount of research and I have to say this player is well worth the money!

Summary: The good...the bad...and the Mp3 player
Review: Let's first say that while I'm a music lover, I'm not an audiophile. I don't really care about sound quality and stuff like that. I just want to listen to music. My music.


The Good: It's this tiny Mp3 player, and it holds up to 4 hours of songs! (that's about how long my batteries lasted too)

The player is hard to scratch. I've bumped it and jogged it and dropped it, and it still looks a lot like new.

The controls are easy to learn, and relativly easy to use.

(just to note from the other reviews: I've had mine for 3+ years now, and haven't had any problems with the headphone jack. And it's been dropped, trust me.)


The Bad: The on-hold-off switch is a bit tricky at times. Sometimes I would have my player "off" and it would still be playing!

It only holds 128megs of memory. That's nickels and dimes compared to comparably priced Mp3 players that can hold 20-40 GIGABITES of memory. The difference? I think it's flash memory vs. hard drive. Something to do with skip protection.

Mine tended to get stuck with the backlight on - meaning my batteries would drain in 3-4 hours. Not too great. That's one of the reasons why I'm upgrading.

The other reason. THIS Mp3 PLAYER DOES NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS XP. I upgraded from ME to XP almost six months ago and every time I want to change songs I have to uninstall and reinstall the software, the drivers, and all the new upgrades from the internet. It's too much of a hassle. If you have XP, be warned. This Mp3 player does not work without this specific software.

Also, as was mentioned somewhere else, the jogging clip doesn't work the greatest. Mine usually ended up in a pocket. It's small enough.


The Mp3 player: It's a nice little Mp3 player for the money. I'd recommend it to new users, and people who like just a few songs and want to listen to them over a nd over.

It's getting 4 out of 5 stars for the Windows XP deal. Otherwise, it's wonderful.

Summary: Really bummed!
Review: I had this player for a couple of months (4) when the headphone jack went out on me. Intel gladly returned it. One year later, the exact same thing happened. Even tho the warranty had expired, I felt this was a major "flaw" and they should help me out. I called customer support and because they no longer make these, there is no support. I LOVED the thing while it worked...

Summary: Headphone Jack is poor
Review: I used this product for about six (6) months and then experienced a problem that has yet to be resolved. The headphone jack must have an internal short because it plays through one of the two earpieces frequently. This product was great for awhile, but this problem caused me to give it two stars and to buy another brand.
