Summary: Excellent Device
Review: When I saw this little thing i thought it was impossible to take pictures, make a film and listen all my mp3 collection. I was so wrong!!! the Archos multimedia is an excellent device.Its size and features... I can't complain. There's actually one thing that i don't like, it has not flash to take pictures in the night. If you want to purchase this item i recommend it to you.

Summary: I'm in love with this gadget!
Review: I bought the Jukebox 2 days ago, and I think I'm in love! OK, some initial complaints: the manual is very poor, and the navigation of the buttons is a bit hard to figure out at first. But once you get past the learning curve, it's a wonderful little machine. One of the reasons I bought it was the sheer size of the hard drive: 20 GIGS is plenty of space to download a whole lot of music. The sound quality is super, and even sounds great when I hook it up to large speakers. I've managed to create folders for different artists, so I can customize the arrangement of my music files, and name them however I want. The voice recorder is great, and playback quality is astounding. There are so many uses for this jukebox, and once I figure out the video downloading/playback features, I'm sure I'll love it even more. (If it were a man, I'd marry it) :)

Summary: Great liltle Multimedia player...
Review: This is my 2nd item from Archos. My 2yr old Mp3-6000 has perform nicely & not a problem at all. I wish it has longer battery life, other than that I'm really happy w/ it. And today, i got my Multimedia 20. Compare to my old one, this is a liltle smaller & thinner. So impress w/ the sound & clarity!!!. About view Mpeg movie, sadly Archos website doesn't say much about how to go about converting existing avi's to play on this hardware. But i've found a tutorial for that. I'm gonna have so much fun w/ this one... can't wait to take it on the long trip.. This is better than anything out there!!!

Summary: Good Concept Bad Manufacturing
Review: Product has great features, but the quality of the unit is poor. If jolted, the unit will lock up and need to be returned. I've gone through 3 units in the past two months. Also, there are some minor problems with the firmware, which causes the unit to skip songs on occation. I suspect these will be fixed in future firmware releases which are on the company's web site. I found updating the firmware very easy. Other negatives--directions are poor and it is tough to create playlists.

Review: When a person makes a purchase there are fundamentals that he/she ought to bear in mind. Is it worth the price? Is it useful? A "Jack of All Trades" this jukebox has been dubbed and for substantiated reasons. Firstly, the LCD screen is incontrovertably small but it is also incontrovertably rich in color and ability. Can you watch movies on said screen? Absolutely, contrary to what a few incompetents may claim. The Mp3 quality is wonderfully "adequate". The sound is with clarity, the sound controls are intuitively present, and the device will suffice to even the heaviest of heavy metal fans. Thirdly, the recording options are flawless. You speak and it records and believe me when I say that you will have no trouble recalling what had been said. Next, the unit acts as a portable VCR. One might invariably be dubious towards its potential in this capacity, nonetheless, a 750 mb movie set properly will resolute in quality surpassing that of the VCR. Yes, it looks that good. Now, dating back to aforementioned fundamentals: is it worth the price? Stop and think for a moment, tech savvies, can you get an mp3 player, a portable video player, a digital recorder and an acting VCR for [such a price] anyplace else? In accordance with its usefulness, thats a question that I can't answer for you readers; I can only fill you in on its capabilities.

Summary: Very Disappointing
Review: I did research on the jukebox for a friend and he was pleased with it. I had a Nomad Jukebox 6 gig player that I was getting tired of because it was nearly full and it was bigger then the Archos. I sold my Nomad and ordered the Archos. As soon as it came in I was so excited. I started playing with it and noticed a couple flaws that I think should be addressed. The main thing I bought it for was for music. It has more than enough space for music. After downloading all my music, I tried to make a playlist. The Archos comes with Multimedia 6 which is an ok program for organizing music. I tried to make a playlist and what it actually does is it copies the same track to your Archos, AGAIN!! It writes the same song twice. It doesn't even do it quickly. To make a 30 song playlist it would take about 15 minutes. If you try to make a playlist through the Archos itself, you have to navigate through the tiny screen. After a song is selected you have to start back at the begining of the start screen for each song. That gets old, real quick. Trying to download videos is a pain also. You have to convert it which takes forever. The only good thing I thought was that it did pictures ok. I am currently deployed and it would have been nice to bring my pics wherever I went. Convert your bmp to jpg before you download though. After 2 days of playing with it and figuring it out, I came to the conclusion that it really isn't worth the headache. I sent it back and ordered the Nomad Jukebox III 40 gig player. It is a little smaller than the original and it it has rechargable Lithiim ion batteries now. It doesn't have the picture or video capabilities, but I wanted it for music anyway.

Summary: Cool gadget
Review: Just got it. Had it up and running pretty quickly. The manual is not well written or organized. It assumes you know alot.
It tells you how to use the unit but not how to get data on it.
Basically connect if via usb and it acts like another hard drive attached to your computer.The navigation system on the unit is a little clunky. Couldn't figure out how to make a song stop playing at first..... For the price it beats the Ipod. I wanted the additional functionality for photo, card reader, and tv out.
Screen is smaller than I expected. Overall I am very happy with my purchase.

Summary: Does a LOT, but not reliable
Review: I bought this product specifically to drive almost cross-country. It was a perfect device for this. I was able to share photos and home videos with relatives I had not seen in a long time. I was able to listen to the 2000+ songs in my digital library during the drive. I could store my resume for job interviews and plug the device into nearly any computer and it was recognized as an external hard drive. Perfect, right?
Almost. TOUCHING the device when not connected to a power supply killed it after less than 2 hours. It was better NOT TO FOWARD a song I was not in the mood for, but to just let it play. TOUCHING the device would mean that until it was powered up again, it was useless. Wish I had known that before a 24 hour drive, of course. But, at the worst, it is a completely recognizable external hard drive for space. At best, it is a fully functional multimedia device with many, many quirks.

Summary: It's a great player... I just wish the batteries would last
Review: The unit itself plays music very well, and you can make playlists and store a vast amount of files.
However, over the 8 months that I have had my player, I have had to send it in to get repaired 3 times for the same problem--after charging it for the whole night, the battery fails after one hour, though it's supposed to last for 8. Since this seems to be a reoccuring problem I would not recommend this mp3 player.

Summary: The AV120 is incredibly useful
Review: I have had this device for 1 year now and I love it. I use it primarily for listening to mp3 recordings of Howard Stern and Al Franken while at work.
The features are extensive and I have purchased the digital camera expansion as well as the radio adapter expansion. The latter is really only useful if you dont want to lug around another radio. The former does not give you great pictures, but it is wonderful for taking impromptu videos and snapshots if you dont have a digital camera. Its quite convenient to put all the attachments in a camera case and take everything you need with you!
I disagree with the reviews that are critical of the sound quality. The sound reproduction is excellent (better than the ipod imho) through both the headphone jack and through the RCA outputs.
Carrying this thing with a few of the optional attachments gives you:
1) Access to your music collection anywhere
2) The ability to watch/listen to pre-recorded radio and television shows
3) Low Quality (1MP) digital photos for impromptu snapshots (I have used the shots to make a webpage, document damage to my car and apartment when a camera wasnt handy, etc)
4) Portable radio
5) Portable Voice Recorder for meetings, lectures, etc (Records directly to mp3 and the quality is high if you set it up properly)
6) Portable Hard Drive: Works with windows XP without the need of drivers, etc (native XP support) giving you access to your files on the fly
7) Ability to output your music/video/digital pictures to any video/audio source with RCA jacks
The Archos was undoubtedly ambitious. Not all of the features are perfectly implemented, but for 299.99 you arent going to find a device that does all of these things. This is without a doubt a "nerd's" toy - you need to know what you are doing and be comforable with computers (and to an extent video compression) to enjoy this thing to the fullest. In the year that I have had this device I have found a use for it EVERY day. At work I listen to the radio or my music. I store data and presentations on it and use it to record meetings. I have shared home movies and pictures to friends with it numerous times. Ive even used it to DJ a party right from my mp3 collection.
