Summary: This is One Nice piece of hardware
Review: I got this about a month ago and i still havent had any problems. The music is very easy to get on the jukebox. All you have to do is drag and drop. The problem I had was with the videos. As it informs you it only plays mp4 videos, well a standerd dvd is a vob file. So you have to find a program or a dvd ripper that can switch the vob to a avi file. Most of these programs cost money and the ones that dont do not work. To switch it to and avi file takes about 4 hours. Then you can switch the avi file into a mp4 file by using the program that comes with the disk. The program i reccomend to use is super dvd ripper. Which lets you switch a vob to and avi 9 times before you have to pay. Hope this helped you!

Summary: Great for use with digicams!
Review: I bought the JBM along with the CF/SM/Photo module for one reason - to dump images off the 512 MB cards I use with my Canon 10D. This makes my life sooo much easier! Just plug the card in and copy the files over to the drive. Granted, when I shoot in RAW format I can't see what the image looks like, but I did not get this thing to view images with - just as storage for when I am out in the field taking pictures.

The other functions on this thing are just bonuses to me. Archos makes some really nifty products and they did a great job with this one. That said, if you want something that is going to survive being beaten up every time you use it, this is probably NOT the unit you are looking for. However, if you want something inexpensive that does the same and more of units that cost twice as much then this is for you.

Summary: Please read my simple review...
Review: So, I am one of those people who research everything a million times over before I buy. I am also a 9 on the technology scale, so quirkly complexities do not bother me. The Archos 20 GB MP3 player, with color screen, is what I ended up buying after looking at all of the other's in this class. I bought the package deal with the memory card readers and later added the camera too.

Everywhere I looked I found that people either loved this product or hated it. In every case, if you have a problem the Technical Support is terrible. You might remember this was the case with a cow-like computer company years ago, but people still bought the hardware.

So far, into week #2, I have not had any issues with the unit itself. I am using it as a MP3 player and secondary location for data files for my laptop. I even mowed the lawn with it attached to my hip and did not run into any issues. The noise of the unit can not be heard, but then again, I do not record sound with it. My only complaint is the battery life is only about 2-3 hours.

In a nutshell, if you want to have 20 GB of files in your hand or some extra disk space, this unit is for you. It is worth the cost having that much disk space available. Now I don't need to take all my CDs with me when I travel. I just take this device.

If you get a bad unit, then things could be different, but so far mine has been really good. (knock on wood)

Summary: More Lies As Time Goes On...
Review: I initially bought my archos and was very excited to use it but then I began to use it and things went down hill from there. They say you can excercise with this thing but that is total BS. Every single time I have run with my archos is conks out on me. They actually replaced my first unit and it still had the same issues. Tech support is useless and the co. doesn't stand behind their products. If you are thinking about getting one of these, think again and pay the extra money to get a product that works.

Summary: All you want in only one machine!
Review: it become necessary for this times of mp3, digital videos and pictures. I can do everything with my jukebox (I also bought the camera accesory). It only will be exceeded by next version of this same machine. I would like more quality in video and picutre capture.

Summary: Beware of Archos reliability
Review: I've had two Archos jukeboxes now and they are very unreliable. My first one broke down totally within a year with lots of problems in between. The other was defective within the first month and had to be replaced. The replacement was notoriously unstable.

I've been very unimpressed with the company's customer service and would warn anyone buying anything from Archos to be prepared for problems. The machines are cool with lots of capability....but not worth the money given the reliability problems.

Summary: pretty good
Review: got this thing for a month, overall it performs well...the battery does drain out fast cuz of the LCD screen. however it does have some problems with the USB connection when I tried to plug this gadget at my school's mac computer(OS9). some weird warning popout said there ain't got enough battery or power outlet or whatever to match this computer power voltage...something like that I forgot what it said exactly, but I did fully charged my jukebox and everything seems running fine in both my PC and mac(OSX) and home. oh well, overall I think this product is pretty good overall at its price(when they priced at $(...) or something) with all those functions

Summary: sweet
Review: this thing is pretty sweet. the lcd was much better quality than i expected. converting movies to the correct format is somewhat a pain, but the initial time period to fill up those 20 gb is worth it. you can hold a whole lot of movies on there + mp3s and at the end, you got yourself a nice compact harddrive-to-go that can pretty much do anything. the camera and camcorder option is just ok. there's discoloration in the pictures and videos when you're taking it, so i only use it when i forget to bring my other camera around. besides that, it looks pretty nice and feels pretty sturdy (although a bit heavy).

Summary: A great device for the tech savy
Review: I think a lot of people who bought this device bought it expecting it to be as simple as plug and play. It's easy to use and but takes a while to master.

MP3
Copying and playing mp3s on it is childs play. Switch on unit, plug in usb, attach other end to pc and drag and drop. Sound quality is fantastic, however if you plug it into anything other than headphones you'll need to turn the volume down and choose the "flat" setting.

VIDEO (DIVX)
Copying video to the device takes time and a bit of knowledge. First you need to have a video to convert on your computer, how you get it there is up to you. Then you have to run it through archos' program that converts it to a format the jukebox will play. It takes about an hour and a half to convert a feature film divX.

NOTE: The video conversion software is PC only and there is no support for mac users. There is a plugin for iTunes but personally, it's just as easy and quicker to just drag the files across in the finder.

The only downside I have had with this unit is that every now and then it switches itself off, it switches on fine after but it's just a minor annoyance.

...

It's a fantastic unit for a good price.

Summary: This Device Does It All!
Review: Very cool device that does a lot for the money. The color monitor is very sharp, albiet small. It is very easy to drag and drop files to the device. My only complaint is that the battery life is not near the 8 hours touted in the specifications. If you use it at work like I do invest in a second DC/AC adapter.
