Review: 1. I can't understand why the name of buttons are at the bottom of the product. When you want to know what a button os for, you need to turn the player. Annoying.
2. Good sound but not strong enough. When I walk down the street in New York, I need to turn the volume to max, and I still can hardly hear the music.
3. Battery life is good.

Review: For some reason, the PDF of this product's manual is over 20 megabytes. And once you have downloaded it, Acrobat 5 reader says the file is damaged and unreadable.Other PoGo products have manuals which are approx. 2 meg; I don't understand why this one is so large. I am trying simply to locate the precise information about the different recording qualities offered by this device, not as vague "good" or "high quality" but as a number of kbps at different settings. So far, I have not been able to locate this information.

Summary: Be very aware
Review: I bought the RipFlash Pro 256 and have had nothing but problems. The first one locked up after about 10 minutes of use. After pushing the little reset button in back, it would play for a few seconds if I was lucky. I sent it back (at my expense) and received a new one a few days later. This second one lasted for almost an hour of use before freezing.
Pogo would not replace the unit unless I paid for shipping (for a third time) to ship it back to them. Pogo claims that there are very few defective units - my two in a row were "probably dropped during shipment". Talking to Pogo is like talking to a brick wall. It's too bad, since the RipFlash Pro has a lot going for it in terms of features.
Do yourself a favor and steer clear of Pogo and the RipFlash Pro 256.

The software was very intuitive & easy to install and use. The sound quality is excellent also. The lithium ion battery lasts for many hours and can recharge through the USB port of your computer or use optional external charger. The built in FM radio appears to be very high quality and I'm able to get great reception. I've tested the built in recording capabilty and it seems to be very sensitive ...should be good for recording meetings & such. I think the extra memory (256Meg) is well worth having, can playback several hours worth of high quality MP3 or WMA material. The only limitation I can see is that you have a 200 file playlist maximum. Pogo products has toll free number for support, if necessary. I really can't find any negatives.

Summary: Poor Quality construction
Review: I did a lot of research before buying my pogoripflash pro2 and based on the praise it had received it seemed like a good idea to pick one up. It seemed to work fairly well for the first couple months, but after about 4 months or so, the headphone jack started acting a little strange. It wouldn't always carry a stereo signal so I figured maybe the contact points needed addressing. I tried other sets of headphones and all had the same problem. I really was not rough on the device and really rarely used the headphone jack as I used it mostly to record lectures and then dump them right onto my computer. There's no reason a headphone jack should go bad in that amount of time. I should also add to my list of gripes the fact that the user interface is not intuitive. Hope this helps someone!

Review: I ordered this on Thursday March 25 at 1:00 AM on Amazon with the free shipping and I got it on Friday March 26th at 1:30 PM. That's 36 hours! Amazon estimated that it will ship on April 1st and I'd get it on April 9th. This thing rocks. How can something so small pack so much stuff in it? If I had a complaint it would be that it can do way too many things for me to use! I bought it to record the Howard Stern show and listen to it at night so I can get motivated and exercise (ya, right). At 32 bps, which is enough to hear a talk show, it can record almost 20 hours. Now that's awesome. It is plenty loud and holds enough songs (almost 80 at 128 bps)to satisfy my needs. I know these new ipods can store a gazillion songs on them but I don't need all my songs with me. I just need a few. It costs less than half of the iPOD and it's way smaller than it. It has no moving parts. WOW! The only thing:

Summary: Lots of features in a tiny package
Review: I use this tiny mp3 player/recorder primarily as a voice recorder, and it is excellent in that capacity. I can find no fault with the player/recorder's basic functions -- the built-in microphone is very good, you can select the sampling speed up to 112kbps (music is sampled higher)...even at this high-quality rate, the device will record for hours...a 90-minute lecture doesn't even use a third of the space. FM reception is clear, the player scans and stores available stations so you can find them easily, and allows you to record FM with one touch. The ability to charge the battery via USB is convenient, and I haven't challenged the battery life yet. Although recharging via USB is convenient for routine office use, it's not so convenient for travelling. Although a travel charger is offered separately, that's not always the best option when you're constantly on the road. A better setup for some of us is the ability to carry a spare fresh battery -- alas, the battery on this device is internal and cannot be swapped out by the user. The controls could stand a little improvement; first, the names of all the controls are on the back of the device; so you have to choose between looking at the LCD display (front) or the names of the buttons (back). If you use the device enough to memorize all the functions, this would get less annoying. Also on the subject of controls, the rewind/fast-forward switch has four positions: up, down, in (short) and in (long). I find this switch much less convenient than a freely rotating wheel like that in the center of a mouse or on the corner of my Panasonic voice recorder. Also, there would have been room to put the volume control at the top of the recorder, where you could reach it even when in a pouch, pocket, or case; it is on the side of the device. In general, as with many miniaturized devices, some buttons do double and triple duty; this can make the device less intuitive, but it's the price you pay for such a tiny package. Some of these small players are criticized for not driving headphones at a loud volume. I find this player's volume very satisfactory; if you listen in environments with lots of ambient noise, you may wish to invest in headphones that block out that noise, rather than increasing the volume of earbud headphones. In an arms race between ambient noise and loud music, your hearing will lose in the long run.

Review: I've read a number of reviews while checking out the spec's on this device. It seemed that their were more negative reviews of this device than not. Well, I am here to tell you that you are ALL WRONG. After 3 days of use and dissecting the "reading glasses" manual (Are all Koreans more myoptic than westerners?).
I assimilated the device protocol and it kicked my ASS! Yes! The internal amplifier could be a bit more powerful and their could be a bit more memory. But, this device is one of the most intuitive and comprehensive designs I've seen.
NO MOVING PARTS IS A VIRTUE!
The sound quality really took me and my bros for a LOOP. But, forget about the audio playback capabilities of the device...IT RECORDS!!!!!!

I made tests of the line in from other portabe MP3 players and their was not diffence in quality from it's original to clone.
The size of RIPFLASH is 1/3 the depth of a pack of cigarettes and if that wasn't all...It's got a god damm digital FM radio tuner in which you can directly record broadcasts internally. I love this feature. Dication is a breeze with over 20 hours at 32k with the internal microphone. All in All, a great music/sound machine BAR-NONE! I don't know what all the bad reviews are about the operation of this device...Did you graduate HIGH SCHOOL GUYS? Get off your Playstation and learn the real world.
GRADUATE TO RIPFLASH PRO IMMEDIATELY.
