Review: The Creative Labs 128 MB MP3 player is an excellent unit except that the volume is very low in an average noise environment. THIS DOES MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! so be willing to accept this if you decide to purchase this unit. In a quiet room the volume is O.K. but on a city street the volume is too low, even at maximum.

Summary: EXCEEDS EXPCTATIONS
Review: After reseaching mp3 players in preparation to buying my first one, i finally decided on the NOMAD IIc. I after i bought, i was worried that it would nt hold enough music for me all of the reviews said 25-30 songs).
However, after aobut 45minutes after it arrived (courtesy of FREE shipping) my doubts were gone. I had already ripped my cds into windows media player, WMA format, and i soon discovered that WMA's are a lot smaller than MP3's. I have 45 songs on it now, and only at 50% of the memory is being used up. Ihear the sound qualitys not as good as mp3's, but who cares?
I instaled playcenter 2, tried to use, the deleted it and used windows media player for all my transfering. It is definitely easier than playcenter and musicmatch jukebox, which i also tried.i also liked the included headphones, unlike others. I have three other pairs, so if my mind changes, well... ANother thing to keep in mind, you MUST rename files, or else the computer thinks all of the "track 4's" Are the saMe songs, and only loads one.
Its compact-ness is awesome too! I can fit it in my pocket easily. i haven't had it that long, so i cant say much about its reliability... but so far i very happy. BUY BUY BUY BUY

Summary: Not for Audio Books
Review: For music the nomad was great. But do not get it for audio books! It lacks a continue feature forcing you to restart from the beginning of the track. and it lack a fast forward within the track that would have mitigated the obove issue. It sounds great and is easy to use for music.

Summary: A Solid Music Player!
Review: I bought the 128mb Nomad 2C from Amazon and added another 128mb of smart media for a total of 256 mb of flash storage and then purchased a pair of Koss Porta Pro headphones also from Amazon. I tweaked the EQ a bit and the resulting sound was really good. Because I rip my MP3 files a 192 kbps, I really need the extra storage. The transfer software looks clunky but works really well. I am literally not able to tell the difference between the CD and the MP3 at the 192 bit rate. In fact, I liked this set up so much I ordered another one just like it. The unit is small although not super small. It fits easily in my shirt pocket or clips on my belt. This player by the way is supported in Windows Media Player 9 so you can transfer music or reformat the flash media that way if you wish. This player may not be for you if you do skateboarding or something very active because the belt clip is not super tight but the player seems tough as I have dropped mine a several times with only a few scrapes as a result. If your priorty is high quality music that is portable as mine is then I recommend the Nomad 2C.

Summary: Good player, doesn't like sweat.
Review: Good player, it's taken a couple of drops and keeps on playing. Only one problem though: Try not to sweat when you work out. A flaw in the design allows moisture to follow the earpiece wire into the jack in the top of the player, creating intermittent problems. It works again in a couple of days, but I'm sure there's long term damage. Maybe they'll move the jack to the side or bottom.

Summary: AFTER A FEW MONTHS...
Review: ...I still give this MP3 player 5 stars! I bought this originally to use under my helmet from the back of a motorcycle and it has proven itself time and time again, even on the harsh, macadem-challenged roads of Pennsylvania with the monstrous roar of Hard Krome Double D pipes gnawing at my ears (NOTE: to non-bikers, these are very LOUD exhaust pipes). The sound is terrific-- as I stated in a previous review, I was disappointed in the sound levels of other MP3 players I had tried, but the Nomad IIc continues to outblast them all. There is no skip at all because there is no CD. With 128MB of extended memory, I can burn about 50 songs onto the player (this includes the onboard 128MB of memory built into the Nomad). I use this at work all the time-- with the sound level set around 10 (out of 25), I can easily drown out the annoying ring of phones, chattering staff, and complaining students. Anything louder than that and people want to know "Did I really hear what I THINK I heard??" coming from a song (usually A3), because they can hear the sound coming out of my headset. I've dropped it, banged it around in my briefcase, have hooked it up to external speakers, and have had it handled by numerous curiosity seekers who want to know "What IS that thing?" and it still continues to perform flawlessly. Running on a single AA battery, I get an average of 8-9 hours of play life. I'd actually give this a rating of 4.5 stars, deducting half a star because of the shi*t software that is packaged with it-- you need to install the version provided, and then download and install the updated version from Creative in order for it to see the actual player. But once done, downloading yer favorite tunes is a snap. I'm buying four more for Xmas presents this year because my relatives keep asking to borrow it (which I'm not about to lend). Do yourself a favor-- if music is a mainstay in your life and an effective tool for maintaining your sanity, invest in a few bucks and buy this incredible player.

Summary: Great Gadget
Review: The Nomad 2c is the mp3 player i decided to buy after looking around for a couple of months. I am so happy with the way it works, the sound, and the voice recorder. The only negative about this product is that unlike the first nomad 2 it has no FM radio, which for me was a down because i like not having to download all the time after listening to all the songs. Since there was no radio it wasn't that big of a deal, but if you are a radio listener type of person i suggest that you purchase a different mp3 if you can't live without the FM. That was the only down that i have come across and so for the most part this product is excellent for all ages. I listen to it all the time and one of my favorite feature is it has batter life up to 10 hours on 1 AA which was a huge plus, unlike my cd player that had about 5 hours on 2 AA. If you are thinking about getting a new gadget or something to play with this is also very fun because it has a voice recorder in it!! Very Cool i think. I use the voice recorder for everything even for school for taking notes on tests and things. All around everything about the mp3 player itself is awesome i highly reccomend you purchase this player!!!! Have Fun

No CarryCase or Armstrap [Just a belt Clip] This player is a very good product, even though it doesnt have a carrycase or armstrap, the belt clip is very secure and can be used to run. Also, for those who listen to music while you sleep, the NomadIIc can be set to turn off the power at a certain time frame so that when you fall asleep, you save battery life and be able to continue sleeping without the fuss of turning it off and then you dont like sleeping again. I got my IIc (64MB, but it is the same compared with a 128MB or a 32MB) for $ at YesMicro.com. Amazon is a great place to buy the IIc but you can find it for a little cheaper. -Great Player for value and expandability.

Summary: Great Little Product
Review: First experience with a MP3 player. Wow, was it ever easy. The only thing I found confusing was remembering to rename the music files before I copied onto the Nomad IIC. When copying different songs from my CD's, some would have the same track number. Nomad IIC doesn't recognize the difference. When I renamed the tracks to the name of the song. NO PROBLEM. But I had to erase and start over. Once I figured that out, the downloading of songs was real easy. Very durable and portable. The headset that comes with it is okay, but I'm using another pair that I had that I like better. I was very satisfied with the quality of sound. It would have gotten 5 stars if the instructions for downloading included renaming files before downloading.
