Summary: Great personalized player. No need for unwanted music!
Review: I just got this player for Christmas and I absolutely love it! I can listen to whatever I want to. You won't find any commercials here. You can burn from your own music CDs and not have to worry about your CDs skipping or scratching. Burn only the songs you want to. This is perfect for athletes, and it also comes with a handy remote control and a graphic equalizer. It sounds great too. It's the perfect device where you can control what you hear, listen only to what you want. The only downfall I see about this is you can't add additional memory. Right now I get on average about 33 songs to fill up the memory. Otherwise, an excellent investment!

Summary: horrid software
Review: I'm a software engineer and a computer scientist with 11 years of programming experience and two advanced degrees, so I consider myself at least intelligent enough to operate most techie devices, if not program them. However, after 1 hour of screwing with this audio player and it's poorly designed software (the understatement of the year), I packed it up and sent it back.

I was unable to successfully download a single mp3. When I thought I finally had one transferred to the audio player (after about 100 reboots of both my PC and the RPA), it would not play it. Nothing. No sound. I should have known it was crap when I first opened the box and saw the flyer with a description of how to fix the audio player after it has locked up. I'm really depressed because I liked the unique design of the hardware and the fitness strap, but for ~ $... USD, I think these kind of usability oversights are inexcusable. If you decide to buy this thing, I hope you have more patience than I do...

Summary: The ONLY smart choice for athletes
Review: If you want an MP3 player primarily for running and working out, this is THE player to get. I got the YEPP MP3 player for X-mas and returned it for this. The YEPP player scratches easily, has an unfriendly interface, has a short battery life, and doesn't have a rechargable battery. The Nike player fits very snugly into the extremely comfortable arm band and you hardly even notice it's there. When the battery runs out you just pop it into the recharger and in 4 hours it's good to go again. The interface is extremely easy and it holds a lot of music. Definitely go for the 128MB player, it's worth the extra money. The YEPP player that I had returned was only 64MB and couldn't even hold an entire CD that I tried. The headphones stay on fine, but the best part is they don't have to go way into your ear like other headphones do. The magnets work great. I was confused by this at first, so here's an explanation: The remote control (which is on a cord) is attached to the MP3 player, and the headphones are attached to the remote control cord. The headphone cord goes INTO your shirt and has a magnet on it. The remote control cord also has a magnet and attaches to the magnet on the headphone cord from the OUTSIDE of your shirt. So thanks to the magnets attached to your shirt the wires are very taut and not in the way. The only slack is from your shirt to the arm, which has to be slack so your arm can move. So you can run without any bouncing wires, which is great. You can even lock it so no buttons can be accidentally pressed while you're working out. Highly recommended.

Summary: Okay, but not exceptional
Review: Received this as an Xmas gift this year and the main problem I'm having with it is compatibility with my XP operating system. It doesn't seem to remember installing the device and repeately asks me to "install new hardware."

After installing it, I'm able to download a set of music - but if I complete that first download and then try to do another one, the PC no longer "sees" the device. I'm not done trouble shooting the problem, so if anyone else experiencing similar PC woes has any advice, it's greatly appreciated!

Its size is great, functionality very simple & straightforward and couldn't be much more lightweight. The headphones are a bit clunky and definitely won't work if you're wearing anything with a collar - like a vest or windbreaker - when moving your head, the collar bumps into the back of the headphones & knocks them out of your ears. But replacing the headphones is a cinch, so that's minor.

If it was less bulbous and came with a belt clip, that would be ideal. It's often handier to be able to clip it to your belt or waistband if your hiking with a pack, for example - keeps it out of the way of straps, etc.

It's a good unit and if Philips can make a few improvements both to software/PC support and practical refinements, they'll have a winner.

Summary: Excellent Workout Companion
Review: This is an excellent MP3 player for working out. It holds plenty of music, is easy to use, and the accessories work great. I especially like the magnet on the remote/cord extension. It allows you to stick the remote to workout machines to keep the cord out of the way and have access to the controls if you don't want to wear the armband.

Loading songs is a breeze... the drivers set the player up as an external storage device/drive and you simply drag and drop songs until it tells you the player is full.

The software did alert me about not being tested for use on Windows XP, but it works fine.

Summary: Must read for runners!!! (PSA 128)
Review: I read and read and read. I looked at all of the views, and reviews of several website's before making my choice. I must say that the RIO S35S rated higher, but I felt such a large company as Nike would not change from the RIO manufacture with out reasons. Anyways

I am running Windows 2000; I put the installation disk in and loaded the media software and the drivers. I found that if you already have a program that converts your WAV files to MP3's then you dont even need the media software just the drivers. And then you simply hook the USB connection up and drag and drop, that is it! I was listening to music within a few minutes.

I do agree that the head phones are worthless! But I use a different kind anyways, so I have know use for the remote or the magnets either.

I am a marathoner, and I have now used my PSA 128 on several runs with great success, so if you want something light weight for those long runs this is it! I am very satisfied. And for a quick review.

Sound quality: Great
Ease of use: Great
Headphones: Put them in the trash and buy others.
Reliability: I have had know problems!!!

Summary: style but no substance
Review: The battery life was terrible, the buttons impossible to deal with, functionality [bad], and sound mediocre. I was really disappointed. It's great for working out because of the armband and the remote and the magnets are cool but overall I was really disappointed. I'm currently shopping for a new mp3 player.

Summary: Software hell
Review: While the device is small and holds lots of music, the software and instructions are miserable. It took hours to correctly install the software and loading songs onto the device is difficult.

Summary: This is the ultimate sport mp3 player.
Review: The PSA128max is a huge improvement over the old Rio120. I have no complaints except for the headphones, they don't stay in your ears very well. I would like a shuffle button, but that isn't a huge deal, because it is after all a sports specific mp3 player. The battery life is great and a huge plus is the rechargeable battery. I have been using it for two months and haven't had a problem. Look past the headphones and you have an awesome product.

Summary: Runner? Biker? Work Out? This is for you
Review: This MP3 player is perfect for working out. Sure there are other brands and models out there that will do more, but not at this size. The 128 MB memory space is enough unless you are going on a 4 hour bike ride, and most runs minus the marathon don't last over 60 minutes. So, this player is light and easy to use, has plenty of features, and if you work out, it is for you. Until someone comes out with something lighter and sleeker, this one is great and the price continues to drop.
