Summary: very bad quality, terrible software
Review: This MP3 player costs me over $150 and didn't last too long. First, its hearphone has problem after 2 months, not to mention its software has some bugs, and it doesn't work well even upgrade version of Jukebox. And Nike doesn't offer too much supports when I encounter this problem. If I still had my receipt, I would refund it for sure !!

Summary: Great product - when it works
Review: If you buy this be sure to buy an extended warranty. That is the best move I made. The product is great while working - it holds about 2 hours of music, is lightweight, the sound is good. It is a distance runner's dream - designing your own commercial free 2 hours of your music for those long runs. Unfortunately the life expectancy is around 4 months. I bought one with an extended Circuit City warranty and returned it in 3 months. I figured I just had a bad unit and purchased another with the refund and it was better - it lasted 5 months. I am still looking for a replacement but I will never purchase one of these again.

Summary: What the F@#$
Review: I recently purchased this item 3 days ago. I spent 2 hours trying to download songs into it, but the thing kept turning off. Come to find out the battery that came with it was dead. A new battery later and I was able to download songs but they wouldn't play. I couln't get anything to show up on the player. All I got was a blank screen. After spending $200.00 bills on this piece of crap I excepted it to work. Luckly I purchased it at Sears and directly took it back. What a piece of junk. I'll save up for the Ipod.

Summary: THIS PRODUCT IS NOT RAIN RESISTANT
Review: I got caught in some rain while on a long run and this product died, never to work again. You can't run in the rain with this device. It was actually a nice product up untill then (except for the headphones).

Summary: THE PRODUCT
Review: The manual for the product comes on the installation CD. If you cannot access the manual you probably do not have Acrobat Reader. If you are still having problems however go to the www.nike-philips.com website and go to Product Support and open the PDF from there.
Who said you cannot erase a song from the player. Sure you can. Connect the player and go to the download screen. The songs that are on the player should appear on the right side of the screen. Highlight the song and the X should be active. There you go.
As for the Customer Care Support Center, it serves a good purpose. It provides tech support for people who don't know anything about there PC.
Regarding the unit not being recognized by the PC. That could be due to the fact that most of you have other devices attacted to your PC or your USB config. are not right. OR you just have some prograns that are conflicting with the drivers. Some of you buy the product expecting a MIRACLE.
Why don't you people read the specifications on the product before installing. The drivers are not compatible with MAC OS 10.The unit will also not function properly if you are connected to a NETWORK or to a DSL cable modem.

Summary: Please read the following before you purchase this product
Review: I love Nike products. I love Philips products. When the two collaborated on this MP3 player, I was in heaven. I checked through the feedback and noticed many people saying they were dissatisfied, that the product broke easily, that it was hard to get Phillips to honor their guarantee, but I was enchanted by the player, and, as many of you will after reading this review, I rationalized the situation by telling myself that even if some players are bad, I certainly would get a functioning one. I made my purchase and for the two months, everything was great. Then, when I was five weeks away from a 10K I had been training for, the player stopped working. I called the Philips help line and the gentleman worked with me for about an hour before determining the player needed to be replaced. I asked him how long it would take, and he said it would be inside of two weeks. I told him that I was in training and that I would really appreciate it if he could do everything in his power to get me a new player as soon as possible. After all, I had paid $$$ for a piece of machinery that had broken irreparably inside of two months. He told me he would speak with his managers and have a letter of return and pre-paid postage sent to me immediately.

After a week I called back. I spoke to a different gentleman who told me that there was a note on my account about the call, but that nothing had been sent out. I asked to speak to a manager. I explained the situation to her, and, while somewhat dismissive of the angst I was feeling about getting a replacement, she promised me she would have the letter sent out immediately. I told her I would happily pay the postage myself if she could fax me the letter. She agreed. Nothing the first day. Nothing the second day. I called back, spoke to her again, and she told me their fax machine was down. We are talking about Philips, so why wouldn't they have only a single fax machine, and, without question, allow it to sit in a state of disrepair for several days? She told me she would send me the letter instead via post. I agreed, genuinely frustrated for the first time.

After another week, I called back. The letter had gone out, they assured me, but it had mysteriously disappeared in the mail. I asked for the address of the president and told them I expect a letter, even if it was just one of a taunting face with a cartoon bubble reading "We hate you," in my mailbox within a week. It never came. So I purchased an identical player from the same store where I bought the first one, waited three weeks, and took the broken one back to collect the refund (thank goodness it turned on briefly when they probed it). When the second one broke (completely different problem), I didn't even bother calling Philips. I just pulled the same trick at the store to get my most current player, which is nearing its third month of use (a personal record!).

Sadly, I have one other complaint. On the cord to the headphones, you get a magnetic "snap" that you can use to adhere a section of cord to your clothing, and, hence, reduce how much the wire bounces. The problem is that if you sweat, the magnets start to rust almost immediately. I had noticed a reddish splotch in the same place on a couple of my running shirts that I couldn't wash out. It was then that it occurred to me that this was because of the rusty metal. I cut the "snap" off immediately. If you do buy this product, well, first of all, may God have mercy on your soul, but, also, please make sure to monitor the condition of the magnets so you don't ruin any of your shirts.

Update (October 10th): my headphones started to malfunction this morning. I can no longer plug them in all the way and have sound in both earphones. Instead, I have to pull the plug out slightly from the player to hear music on the right side. Fortunately, while I'm running, the plug often slips, necessitating me to slow down and adjust it. It is very convenient. Thanks again, Nike!

Review: I purchased this from Best Buy a few days ago, the first one I had to take back because only part of the screen showed content. The second set was ok. I did find the headphones a little awkward and all the magnets and wires. Sound quality good, not too much bass though. If you purchase this product buy a warranty plan if you choose to keep it!!!

Summary: Save your money. Buy something more useful, like a betamax.
Review: Checked out both this player and the comparable Rio, but decided to take the Nike player because the reviews I'd read here seemed to indicate it was slightly more durable. Wrong.

Worked fine for about a week, then began declaring "No File" whenever I activated it. Now, I don't code AI software for a living, but I know how to use this machine in front of me, and I know I did everything correctly re: driver installation, file transfer, etc. I formatted the player, and we both lived happily for another few days. Then it began happening again. I attempt a format, and the thing locks up my computer. On every subsequent attempt, too. I call the service hotline, where I am read a script (the "dissatisfied customer" response, I'm sure) that's probably seen more use than Cher's plastic surgeon. They tell me after much prodding that they're asking me first to send it back, and will replace the unit. I ask, "What if it is simply a piece of ..., and each one you send me fails?" They reply they will refund the cash, but only after sending me two more players (three in all) to grow disgusted with.

So this is where I am. Possibilities: Nike and Philips built a cheap product using tin, aluminum foil and more child labor overseas; the "sport" in the name is a joke and sweat infiltrates through the battery hatch, doing fast damage; or ... I don't know ... the technology they have simply wasn't ready for market.

Be warned. This is a nice player, but for only about 10 days.

Summary: Good Buy!
Review: I recently bought this product and I think it gets some bad press. The pros definetly outweigh the couple of cons it has. The Pros: it is very easy to use with Windows Media player. I don't consider myself tech-savvy and I knew exactly what to do. I like the fact they give you magnets to help keep the cord from flapping around. They also give you a rechargable battery with a charger. The sound quality is excellent. The headphones are okay. They don't allow you to swivel your head the full 180 degrees, but it is enough to look both ways before crossing the street. I love the armband they give you. It is perfect to keep the player in place while you run.

Now, for the cons. The headphones sometimes slip out of your ears when you try to turn your head. That just gets annoying after awhile. If you turn slowly it won't happen, but if you whip your head, they will fall. The biggest complaint I have with this is it's price. It's pretty pricy for an MP3 player. You can find a most cheaper. However, they probabally aren't as nice as this one. Overall, it is a good buy, but it could be cheaper.

Summary: Simply not designed by active people...
Review: Decent sound quality.

However, the software that comes with the player (Musicmatch) is not very user friendly. The device isn't compatible with most of the music download sites, even two listed on it's own website!!

And here is the worst thing about it.. THE HEADPHONES ARE HORRIBLE!! There is simply no way that these things were designed by anyone that's ever tried to listen to music while working out... simply no way. If you're lifting they simply pop off every set and if your running you are continually adjusting them.

Kudos to Nike on the wire management. That does work. If you are buying these for walking or sedentary listening they are at best a mediocre product. If you are buying them because the concept of a small device with quality sound for working out appeals to you... Save your cash!
