Summary: Another Great Iomega Product
Review: I found myself in need of an MP3 player after my third, yes THIRD, Rio went south.I went with the HipZip because I respect the Iomega name (I've been impressed with their products since I purchased a SCSI 100MB Zip drive some 7 or 8 years ago), and because it was one of the few non-Rio players that supports the Audible format, which is primarily what I use the player for... The software for the HipZip is integrated with the Windows file system. When connected, the HipZip is assigned a drive letter so that it's simple to use Explorer to copy files down to the player. All of the player's storage is removable, so if you care to, you can copy non-MP3 files down, and use the removable disk a portable storage device. I only gave the HipZip 4 stars instead of 5 because it's a little too big, and so there's a lot of movement when I'm running.

Summary: The Best MP3 player....Period!
Review: This player has it all...well almost. The best feature of this player is the removable media. Simply buy the inexpensive Clik! disks and store up to 40mb per disk(thats about 9 tracks at 4-5 mb per track.) I especially liked the internal battery,and equalizer. It also doubles as a pocketzip drive,making it well worth the money. The only thing i think this player needs is an exit button,because when you are scrolling through the menus you have to scroll all the way to the end of the list until you get to the exit option, and the earphones that are included with the player are less than adequate,so get yourself a good pair of earphones if you buy this player.Overall this is the best player I have seen,and the price makes this player unbeatable. In short if you are looking for an MP3 player with excellent sound quality and loads of storage,look no further than the Iomega HipZip.

Review: Before you buy be warned that other reviewers and myself have experienced problems with the HIPZIP portable drive....while i think this is an excellent product...it may suffer from a defect of devouring clik! disks and dying...i do not know if this only applies to certain versions or wot because iomega has manfuactured them thru different companies....hopefully they will get these defective players off the market...it was unfortunate (in my case) to have such a great player with such a disasterous defect...

Summary: horrible....waste of money
Review: i wasted so much money on this thing. it ate up the disks..they got stuck in it and of course it did all of this right when i was about to go away and needed it most.
do not buy this unless you like wasting money.

Summary: How did I get by without one!
Review: As I listen to the digital crispness of Big Country, I wonder how I enjoyed digital music without an innovative MP3 player such as the HipZip! Here is how I feel about this wonderful device: Plus:
Transfer speed - Quick transfer of files. Less than 2 minutes to transfer 15 songs.
Simple - Instantly recognized in Windows XP as a HipZip, and I was up and running in seconds. Easy menu navigation.
Value - With recent price cut and cheap media, this is a great MP3 player to take digital music portable.
Quality - Solid construction, 5 year warranty on media.
Size - Dimensions are perfect for me. Not tiny, but it is half the size of my portable CD player and fits great in my hand.
Case - Excellent case, not a cheap throw in.
Sound - Great sound quality, surpassing my CD player (with WMA files and new headphones, see below).
Flexibility - Plays MP3s/WMAs/Audible content and is upgradeable. I have been using WMAs myself due to the excellent sound and better compression. I can get over an hour and half on one PocketZip with WMA.
Rechargeable - Charges in 2 hours and lasts over 8 hours.
Anti-Skip - It will not skip and in fact passed my "mow the lawn" test and jogging test. Reason for no skip is simple. It caches songs in 4MB of internal memory. Saves on disk reads and no skipping. Minus:
Mechanical - Can hear the drive spin when it caches songs. Moving parts wear out.
Obsolete? - Rumors of a non-backwards compatible 100MB HipZip and equally rumors of Iomega dropping HipZip altogether to cut costs. Buy all the media you need just in case.
Display - Good info and layout, but very light and pixels in background obsure display. Hard to discern shading and icons. Real Minus!! (Cost the 5th Star)
Headphones - Included Labtec headphones are painful on the ear and sound awful. Extremely tinny with no bass at all. Replaced with only a $14 set of Phillips headphones, and the difference was night and day. Shame cuz the sound from this player is wonderful.

Review: WOW .. ITS AMAZING ,, but the only thing that i was suprised about is the 40MB its only 38MB i have no idea why .. and i havn't recieved the Headphones for some reason .. but its fast and easy to use. BUY IT :)

Summary: Nice item, a few drawbacks
Review: Iomega is a name I trust. I've had Zip drives since before there was dirt and have never had a minute's grief with any of them. Nevertheless I did debate about buying this item because I wasn't sure I needed it. Still, I'm a gadget geek, so I went ahead and ordered it. And what I found was that I probably didn't really need it, but I do kind of like it. I love the idea of swappable media. Unfortunately, the disks only hold about 40 minutes worth of music, which is okay, they're tiny. I can carry several days' worth of tunes in my pockets. I really wanted it for Audible content (audio books for those of you who aren't familiar with audible.com) and herein lies the biggest drawback of all: HipZip firmware only supports Audible formats 2 and 3. These are less compressed than format 1 and thus bigger. This is a problem for me for two reasons. First, if I want to buy anything that weighs in at over 40 megs (slightly less; each disk has some operating fribble on it) I can't write it to a disk. This would be any unabridged novel, and quite a few abridged ones. Second, and perhaps more annoying, Audible doesn't make all its content available in all formats. The bulk of what I've already downloaded is only available as format 1 files, which means I only listen to the content on my computer. I don't want to turn this into a rant against Audible or Iomega, but it seems to me that neither position is easily defensible, and the loser is anyone who thinks that the HipZip is going to allow them to go portable with the greater part of Audible's content. That said, I have to say that this is one of the best audio players I've ever used. The swapable media puts it way out ahead to begin with, but it's also easier to use than either my Rave or my Rio. It comes with a rechargeable battery (the conservationist in me loves this, the audio fanatic is annoyed at having to stop and recharge for 2 hours when it runs out) and light, secure headphones. The screen could be easier to read - it's a bit dark - but it's not bad. The package comes with two rewriteable disks, which gives you 80 megs of storage, and additional disks aren't horribly expensive. And the sound? Very good. All things considered, I'd say that if you like the idea of small, lightweight swappable media over expensive RAM upgrades, this is a great unit.

Summary: Probably the Best MP3 Player out there.
Review: I researched Mp3 players extensively before buying this one. I questioned whether the rechargeable batteries would actually last 12 hours as stated. After using this in the gym extensively and for studying, I found that they last around 10-12 hours. I like the fact that you can drag and drop Mp3s on the disks. You can fit 9-12 songs, depending on their bit size. I reformatted most songs at 90 to fit about 12 songs per disk and still could not notice a decrease in sound quality. The players volume control gets very loud too, which is a plus for gym settings. Sure does beat the price of MB memory in other Mp3 players. The only noticable set back is a 1-2 sec delay in moving from song to song on the player...because it accesses the disk vs. actual stored memory like other players. A very minute point if you ask me. Plus it comes with 2 disks and buying extra ones is fairly inexpensive. A very good investment. The player does recharge in approximatey 2 hours. Will be interesting to see how long the recharging ability lasts..As far as I know the recharging ability is supposed to last about 4 years, before it starts losing charge. A very good investment!

Summary: A Must Have!
Review: Wow, I love this Iomega player. It's better than I imation. It's great, it has a good size and feel. The music sounds Good and the best part it never skips, which I wasn't sure if that was going to be a problem before I bought it. I can bang it against my hand forever and it keeps playing. The only to improvements the Hip Hop can make for there next model is include a fm/am tuner and maybe come up with a disk that can hold 80 MB. Over all this Mp3 player rocks. Oh ya the clik disk, you can't beat the price per MB verses any other media card.

Summary: Am I the chump for buying something from Iomega again?
Review: I've had this unit a month and it's broken, it ate a disk. OK, that can happen, but the disk killed the player. I've tried emailing Iomega customer support and have not had any results or return email. I'm not sure anyone is reading the customer service email. But Iomega did it again. The 40MB disks are only 38MB. Just like the Zip100 was never 100, but 92MB. I think I've finally learned to not buy anything from Iomega.
