Summary: What a Bargain!
Review: When I first started shopping for a photo printer, I figured that you get what you pay for. So, I was looking at models that were listed for 250-300 bucks. After some research, I was discovered that the Canon S820 produces pretty much the same quality prints as their pricier models -- but it prints more slowly. So, if you can sacrifice the speed (and it's not intolerable), you'll save yourself quite a bit of cash. I am thrilled with this purchase -- I'm so glad I didn't spring for the Canon S900!

Summary: Nice Printer
Review: I purchased this printer from staples for 129.99 and it was delivered the next day. The last color printer i had was purchased years ago and was horrible. I have since had a LaserJet printer but it only prints black. So i got this printer so i could print from my 2.1 mp Sony digital camera. It took about 10-15 min to setup the printer. It prints great pictures i have seen better but this prints great for its price. Only bad thing is you have to buy a usb cable. Some reviews said that it only prints good on canon paper but i had good results on Staples Photo Paper. Overall i am really pleased with this printer.

Review: The Canon S820 is a quality printer. The individual ink carts is a great feature. You get picture quality photo's when printing 4 X 6 pictures. The printer gets a little less quality when you print 8 x 11's. Overall, very happy with my S820.

Summary: For photo quality prints - Love it!
Review: Bought this printer after owning an Epson which caused me only problems. The prints from my digital camera were awful and I had to continuously clean the printhead. Ran out of lots of ink that way. So, I researched this printer and bought it a few days ago. Installed the software and got it up and running in less than half an hour and started printing out pictures with the paper they included (Canon). Then bought Staples brand (cheaper) glossy photo paper - standard and printed about thirty pictures from that. These prints were reproduced from 35mm photos that were scanned. I use Photoeditor to edit them then print them out. They look identical to the original and much better than the Epson... If you want great photo prints for a very reasonable price, buy this printer!

Summary: Great Printer
Review: I bought this printer based on the excellent reviews I read about it. I have been extremely pleased with the results (after a little trial & error). The funny thing is, I like the Canon Photo Pro Paper a lot, but I have had better luck with the Pictorico Premium Photo Glossy paper. I actually feel that the prints come out looking even sharper and less 'foggy' with the Pictorico paper (although I can't vouch for the long term stability because I have only had the printer for one month). The printer also uses photo cyan and photo maganta cartridges much faster than the others, so stock up on those.

Summary: Good photo Printer
Review: I am very happy with the printer. Use Canon paper only.[local store]has it. I tried new Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy (50 4x6 sheet @ $$$), and the result is very good. Do not us Epson's Glossy photo paper. I have to tell you that the photo printed on the 820 is better than the photo lab after comparing the two identical picture.

Summary: Only Good With Canon Papers
Review: Just bought this printer to replace my Canon BJC8200 that has a bad printhead. I bought this printer because it was cheaper than replacing the printhead for my old printer, (... for the printhead and with no ink) compared to ...a new and "supposedly" better printer with ...ink. Well I set it up and started printing photos on the same Kodak Premium Picture High Gloss and Ultimate Satin finsh papers I was using and having excellent results with using the 8200. I was stunned when I looked at the results, they were horrid, washed out colors, very pixelated, just plain bad. I tried every setting I could think of, called Canon Tech Support, tried their suggestions, nothing worked. This printer just will not print on Kodak paper. I did print on some Canon Photo Paper Pro that I've had since I bought my 8200 almost 3 years ago. The results were spectacular, vivid colors, excellent detail, no pixels visible, photo lab quality for sure. I'm not sure how it compares with the 8200 since I've never used the Photo Paper Pro, I'll try it later, but I'm pretty sure it will be comparable based on the results I've had with Kodak glossy paper which is nearly as good as what I had with the S820 and Photo Paper Pro. Bottom line, the S820 is faster, probably prints a liitle better, but if I have to use only Canon paper, then it's of no use to me since I have a stock pile of Kodak paper and the only way I can get Canon paper is via mail-order which just adds to what is already about the priciest paper on the market. Plus, I like to use matte/satin finsih for photos that go in my albums, they don't stick like the glossy paper. It's amazing since they both use the exact same ink cartidges. I'm sending it back and will be ordering a new printhead. I would try another printer, i850 or Epson but I also have a stock pile of ink cartridges.

Review: i dont see how people can compare a ... printer to a photo lab. ferrari's and escorts, this is a good printer for printing color photos at home, nothing will compare in this price range to a photo lab. also the images on the screen may not be as true as what you get printed, thats a given, unless your using a panatone color sync device. i have a canon s900 and a s850. both great printers for the price, and the 6 colors come in handy, drivers work well with apple osx. those looking for max. photo quality should go to the lab, but for something to give to your friends and/or put in a frame around the house, you cant beat these printers for the price.......

Summary: get it while it lasts
Review: Wonderful deal on a printer. The replacement for this printer (S820D, I think) gives direct print, but who needs it? Canon definitely has a leg up on other manufacturers with speed of printing without any loss of print quality. I use the printer with OS X on a Mac. Nothing negative I can say.
