Rating: Summary: beware Review: The 2000p which I own has been replaced three times. It is capable of producing absolutely beautiful pictures. However, it's software is totally unreliable causing the machine to cease functioning repeatedly in partial print mode. The software has been tweaked with advanced technical support. All of this to no avail. I never know when it will print or not. Then when it does, the consistency of the picture is again not reliable. This is one to avoid. CAVEAT EMPTOR.
Rating: Summary: Getting Better all the Time Review: The quality of this printer is very good. However, the ink pigments behave strangely in different light...ie sun vs. indoor, so be prepared. Using a high end program like Photoshop is also a little complicated - it is important to keep all color adjustments off and make sure that all the outputs to media match exactly the PS and Mac ColorSync specs. But once you have probably wasted 20 to 40 sheets of paper, and you've got it right, it's really amazing. I have also had the best results with the semigloss paper, but it is difficult to come by in letter size.
Rating: Summary: NOTHING BETTER Review: There simply is no better ink-jet printer for photos at any price.Simply print a Black and White photo on Epson premium paper at high res. and you too will be a believer. Yes, you have to use good paper, and you must calibrate and profile the printer to your scanner and monitor. There are other brillant color printers and other borderless or wide format printers, but if you are a photographer of any skill level, you know how important shadows and shades of gray are to contrast values. This is the printer. Try one, hold the print up to the light and try to see the droplets of ink.Follow the rules and you won't be disappointed. Don't like rules...
Rating: Summary: Wonderful prints, good cost Review: This is a great printer for someone looking to do professional quality prints without the $1700-$2200 price tag. While you will go through a full ink cartridge learning it's ins and outs, it's not really that difficult to understand. It's ability to print full bleed at any size up to 13 by 44 inches (by .01" incriments) is quite usefull, particularly for the digital photgrapher. And artists looking to add great print quality to their portfolios can forego the high cost of 8 by 10's with this (15 pieces and you've broken even). The possibilities with the Epson 2000p are near endless.
