Summary: In a word: INCREDIBLE!
Review: ...The new Canon S900 and S9000 series kick out what appear to be the same quality (if not better) photos than you get from your local film processing center. It's THAT good! I was floored by the performance of my S9000 when I unboxed it last night and printed out a few photos I had taken with my Canon PowerShot G2. Utilizing the included Easy-Photo software, I was able to easily choose the image, print layout and paper type. (Easy-Photo now supports the EXIF data from my G2 further enhancing the print quality.) Other items worth mentioning: indivual ink cartridges, removable/replaceable print head, it's stylish, fast, and very, very quiet. I suggest that you run to your local computer store and have them demo the Canon S900 or S9000 printer so you can see for yourself.

Summary: Great Photo prints
Review: After unpacking the printer and setting everything up I was ready to print my first photos. I own two digital cameras both Canons and I was sold on the Canon name. After printing out a few photos I noticed a shift in certain colors. Red became pink and there seemed to be a bluish cast on some of my pictures. The results were unacceptable. I played with the settings and different paper types but the results didn't improve. Finally, I ended up updating the printer driver and that seemed to solve the problem. I got one of the first printers so I suspect they just shipped a faulty printer driver. I can say now that the printer is working very well and the prints are sharp and quick. I recommend the printer and would give it a 5 star except for the problem I had with the software.

Summary: Oustanding quality results
Review: I am amazed by the photo quality output of the S9000. Using high res images scanned from 35mm and a Sony F707, the results appear at least the equal to pro-lab prints (using the photo gloss paper). The machine is easy to setup and works with my cluttered Win2000 machine (600mhz 512MB ram). The included software actually encourages experimentation and gives exec. results. I bought the S9000 after reading a review from the UK, and giving my HP to a family member. I highly recommend this unit. Now a question on inks. What results from "non-Canon" inks ... ? I've ordered more ink and 13X19 photopaper from Amazon.

Summary: Never leave home to develop pictures again
Review: I bought this printer from a reputable camera store in my town and used it once in the first two weeks. I only had Kodak printer paper and the results were bad. I had convinced myself the printer was going back and I decided to try Canon paper as a last ditch effort and I am so glad I did.
The pictures are amazing with Canon paper and its no more expensive then any other brand. With the initial cartidges I was able to print ten 13" x 19" photos, over ten 8 1/2" x 11" and numerous 4" x 6". I have only replaced two of the six cartridges.
I have a Canon 10D camera (6 megapixel) and the quality is stunning. I test printed 2 megapixel images at 13" x 19" and although pixelation was noticeable, the quality was still excellent. The color matching also was near perfect from what you see on the screen. The Easy Photo Print software that comes with makes it extremely easy and quick to create wallets, 5"x7"'s, 4"x6"s, 5"x5",8"x10", and true borderless prints and putting as many possible on the same page so not to waste paper.
I just got some Classic Pearl paper from Ilford (get from a camera store) and you can truly have professional prints at home. I have numerous photos of my daughter at work and have had colleagues ask where i got them printed and when i tell them at home with the S9000 they are truly amazed.

Summary: Superb printer performance...
Review: I considered getting the Epson 1280, but after considerable research I settled on this gem, primarily for the flexibility of 6 ink tanks vs. 2 ink cartridges with the 1280. I had (& still have) an Epson 980 which has been a workhorse & has given outstanding quality. I will keep it as a back-up & for doing fast document prints & for dye sublimation printing. But the Canon S9000 is in a total different category. If you do a lot of high resolution work requiring demanding color calibration, this machine is a blessing. The software that Canon provides with this unit is flexible, powerful & easy to use. I use this machine in concert with an Epson 2450 Perfection Photo Scanner (another dream machine) mostly for processing 35mm & 4X5 transparencies as well as Victorian chromolithgographs & with output from an Olympus E-10. It's fast, easy-to-setup, easy-to-use & accurate. It's also addictive, so be ready to order plenty of ink tanks (I find that photo-magenta & yellow go first). Amazon Imaging makes a very good & lower cost substitute ink tank, by the way.

Review: I have always purchased high end Epson printers whenever a new printer came out. I was in a photo shop and saw a demo on the S9000 and bought one. It worked fine(with Canon Paper Pro only)until out of warranty. The paper feed now is is poor, destroying more paper than it prints, printing half photos when it does feed. Can't get any help from customer service. Ink is expensive and not easy to find. Have to stock up when it is available, or order over the Internet. Satisfied with print quality, but going back to Epson. All my camera gear is pro Canon and is superior, but high end Epson printers I think are a cut above in the printing arena.

Summary: problems with matching colors
Review: I have had the S9000 for about a month, and am still having trouble getting the colors of the photos to match the colors that I am seeing on my computer monitor. Tech support has been very courteous but unhelpful....it seems that many of them do not have experience with this printer. Photos are printed with a yellow overcast. The same photo printed on an Epson 1280 turns out with truer colors (more redish tones, and whiter whites). So far, I would definitely recommend the Epson 1280 printer for equally fine printing with better and brighter colors.

Summary: Well worth the money
Review: I hesitated to buy this printer because of the price, but now that I have it, I don't regret my decision at all. I read reviews for almost every printer and printer/fax/copier combo out there. Taking everything into consideration, this looked like the best printer. So far, it has been far superior to the HPs and Epsons I've used in the past. I love the individual ink tank idea, although I haven't had it long enough to change any tanks yet. Some people complain that the tanks are small. Yes, they are a bit smaller than many others, but there are six of them, so the total amount of ink appears to be much more than the printers with one or two tanks. There is indeed a Print Preview option in the Properties window on the "Main" tab. I have used it and it works great. The print quality is awesome, especially on photo paper. I had to do some color tweaking on some of the pictures, but that was due to poor lighting in the digital photo. It prints black and white or sepia photos beautifully with no adjustments. I've seen some complaints that the black and white text on regular paper is fuzzy, but I printed my tax returns, and it looked better than my Epson ever printed anything. Setup was easy and the software is so far the best part. There are three programs altogether, but the Canon ZoomBrowser EX is my favorite so far. It allows me to see a thumbnail of all of my digital photos, and organize them into folders. I can also print index prints or scrapbook pages or just arrange one or several photos onto one sheet. Before, I only had Adobe PhotoDeluxe, which forces you to open your photos one at a time--there are no thumbnails, so if you're file names aren't descriptive, you don't know what you are opening. The ZoomBrowser EX opens Adobe PhotoDeluxe for me so I can edit the photos directly from that program--so I can see all my photos, and choose which ones to edit or enhance. Another bonus: the printing is very fast. The Epson I used to have (it now sits in the garage) warmed up or cleaned the print heads every time I used it after sitting idle (taking often 2-5 minutes). This drastically cut the print time, since I didn't use the printer that often. This Canon prints without having to warm up, even after sitting idle. It's a wonderful thing.
