Rating: Summary: Exetremely nice output if you can load the color profile Review: I am very pleased with the photos from this printer. Its as if I had them printed by the photo center. I don't like the cost per print, and the lack of the better price per print 75 packs in my local stores. I don't have a Sony camera and print from my computer. The first 25 prints were really bad even with all the tweaking I attempted in Photoshop. I'm pretty new to digital photography and was using Photoshop at work. A fellow co-worker pointed out that I needed to load the ICC Profile that came with the printer and map the profile in the mode setting. Now if I do auto levels and just print, they look spectacular. I hope Sony sells the printer/paper packs for a while since the printer will be useless the day they stop manufacturing them.Overall my family is amazed at the photos and how I can print off a picture for them in a few short minutes after we take them.
Rating: Summary: an excellent printer at a low cost Review: I bought this printer a week ago and am extremely satisfied with its quality. The photos come out in about 90 seconds, and are impossible to distinquish from photo-lab prints. Pictures were taken with a Sony DSC-P5, a 3.2 megapixel model. I've read complaints about photos not coming out so well on this model... I imagine they are not using a Sony camera. It's got a memory stick reader for a reason =) This printer is all you need, and its the cheapest one offered by sony right now. I did some research and all three currently offered printers use the same printing technology (dye sublimation), it's only the features that effect the price. The $500 model has an lcd screen, the $250 is extra tiny but can only do 3x5. this $200 needs a television or your computer, tho. Cons: noisy whine while machine is off. doesn't come with usb cable for computer hookup (manual claims using a computer disables the "fine print" option).

Rating: Summary: Great little printer! Review: I bought this printer in January 2004 with a Sony Digital camera. I was amazed at the color and quality of the prints that come out of this little printer. I started out using the printer connected to a TV. Very easy to set up (connect one cable, select video on the TV) and start using. Since then I've purchased a USB cable and connected it to my PC. Connecting it to the PC (running XP Pro) was a snap - not as fast as connecting to a TV, but not difficult using the User's Manual. You do have to install printer drivers, but the installation wizard was trouble free. The printer paper packs are not cheap, but I love being able to print what I want, when I want!
Rating: Summary: Sony Digital Cam Photo Printer is AWESOME & USER FRIENDLY Review: I found the sony digital cam photo printer online by accident while holiday shopping, read the reviews and decided to make the purchase. The product is a good value, cost wise, and is so easy to operate and the pictures are superb! I've only used the product twice- just recieved it 5 days ago and I haven't hooked it up to my pc yet (but that wasn't the point of my purchase anyway because I have an inkjet photo printer and printing software) but have used it on my home tv and the software program is just great- right from the TV I view all prints, can add text to the print, change the print to B&W, adjust tint, brightness etc and print however many prints of each photo I want. I even printed out an index photo of all the pics on my memory stick- awesome. The picture quality is so much better than inkjet prints and you can't tell the difference between these and professionally printed photos. The quality is remarkable. I highly recommend this product to both experienced and inexperienced digital camera users- it's great to have a device like this on hand to print pictures out immediately to share with others (modern similarity to poloroid cams in that you're able to share immediately right from your home TV or others- did I Say how easily PORTABLE this is-but SO MUCH MORE) The reviews here helped me so I'm hoping I can help someone else in making a decision.

Rating: Summary: Disappointed...Staying with online print service. Review: I have been using the ofoto.com for a long time. I was really hesitant to try out the dye-sub or ink-jets printer for the only reason that there is no point to leave the online printing service other than you get the pictures in 2 hours instead of 2 days by mail. So finally I gave in and decided to go with the Sony DPP-EX5. The first disappointment came fast, during the setup: NONE of the advanced buttons (effects, touch-up, preview, etc.) works if you do not use the memory stick. What a bummer! The printer has a video-out jack, which is also completely useless without the stick, unless you like to stare at the words "PC MODE" on the screen all the time. I don't use the stick, since my camera is not Sony, so 50% of the justification to use this printer was gone in an instant. On to the prints quality: not even close! I use the FUJI Finepix 4900 camera, from which on a normal resolution (at 4.3 Mpixels) ofoto.com makes perfect prints. The prints from the Sony printer were still better then some of my friends' prints who use conventional cameras, but no match for the online service. The colors were almost too vivid, red was so bright, that it looked like an ink jet printed Santa cartoon, not a photo. The face coloring was off. Overall the colors are too bright and a softness of a photo image is gone. Price is somewhat cheaper then online service (by my estimates it is 30c per picture as compared to 50 cents for online print shop), but it is not a big difference to make me give up the quality in lieu of saving time waiting for the pictures to arrive by mail. I am staying with online print shop for now.
Rating: Summary: Great Deal for the Money Invested! Review: I just purchased the DPP-EX5 printer and I'm very pleased with the quality of pictures it prints. It's size it's quite portable and is very user friendly, just wasted one sheet while hooking it up on a PC. Like other opinions, I think the quality of the picture taken will determine how good the print will be. I suggest for all those interested, get a good digital camera, perhaps a Sony and then just do your shots and print them, you will be more than satisfied with this printer.

Rating: Summary: Excellent printer Review: I used to be a die hard HP fan, I never worried about the price of ink cartages, I wanted quality. I read about Sub-Dye printing and found out it is far superior to than ink printing. I went out and bout the printer for $200.00. One print cartridge comes with 25 sheets and all the dye ribbon. When you finish up the 25 pics you toss the whole thing and inset a new one. I never have to worry about ink drying up or running out in the middle of a project. The price per pic is very low and the quality beats any ink printer on the market. There is no difference between a photo devolved at Kodak or the one I can print. This is the mother of all printers.
