Rating: Summary: Needs work Review: I recently purchased this printer after having problems with the samsung ML1450. I now realize that the Samsung was the superior product, doh.Out of the box this printer has only 8MB of RAM, the Samsung only has 4MB, but guess which one chokes on large documents. When printing 20 page plus documents it would stop after printing a page. This was solved with a cheap 64MB memory upgrade, no problem. Then there is the issue of the paper tray, it's way too small. It won't even hold one stack of new paper. I think this was a compromise on their part in an attempt to reduce the overall physical size of the printer. Sad part is, it doesn't make a bit of difference because the paper tray sticks out so far. You may save some vertical space, but horizontal space is bigger. Also, the thing won't print manual duplex jobs correctly. This is one aspect where the HP and the Samsung fail miserably. Don't implement the feature in the driver if you can't get it to work right. On a bright note, if you want something to print out nice looking text documents without any fancy features, this does a decent job. The problem is that there are printers that will do the same thing for a lot less. Don't waste your money and go with something cheaper than HP.
Rating: Summary: This is a WONDERFUL printer for the money Review: I researched buying a printer for a long time. I wanted a color laserjet printer but couldn't afford one because I needed a printer with a resolution of at least 1200 dpi. Well, I didn't get color, but this printer has a high quality resolution. You cannot go wrong with Hewlett Packard. The quality is excellent and even though you might pay a little more, you will appreciate it in a long run. Bravo for HP!
Rating: Summary: Works great with Macs Review: I'm not sure why the "PC Hardware Fan" reviewer is writing about Mac compatibility with the HP 1200. He is way off the mark. We've been using the 1200's at our school for the last 18 months with great success. Macs running system 8.6 on up to OS X all have no problems. The printer drivers work just fine. The printers start up quickly, print high quality copies, and work great on our network with the optional network adapter. I'm considering buying one for home use, especially since new ones can be found for well under $... as HP closes out this model in preparation for its replacement, the 1300 series.
Rating: Summary: Best Printer Ever!!! Review: I've come a long way from the free printer that was given to me when I got my Compaq in the mid 90's. The HP 1200 is definitely one of the best printers I have ever seen and cheap to maintain since cartridges last forever (one and a half years so far). It is definitely worth buying and should last a long time. I have a few complaints about it though: 1) It overheated after my first use (printed 50 pages at once)-But that's ok 2) It does curl pages a bit -That's ok too Ultimately, this printer is a life-saver for people who have things to do or need that mid-term paper printed quickly. I saved all of 12th grade to buy a printer like this (and a computer) and it's worth it. Just look around for a good deal.
Rating: Summary: This may be the last printer I ever buy! Review: I've had mine for about a year and love it! I can't imagine ever needing a faster or more powerful printer for home use. I've never had a single jam or multiple paper draw even when printing down to the last piece of paper in the tray. The only complaint I can think of, and this is nit-picking, is that is puts a bit of a curl on large print jobs. Love it!
Rating: Summary: Reliable, great buy Review: I've had my HP laserprinter for about 6 months and really love it. I frequently print out relatively large (50+ pages) documents and have had no problems whatsoever. The print quality is very good, and the printer is fairly quick. I have not had ANY printer jams since I bought it, which is quite a contrast to other printers that I've used in the past. Overall, a very reliable printer that is a great buy. In fact, I recently purchased a second one for my other office. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Does not work sufficiently with Mac OS X Review: I've had this printer for a year. I have both a Mac running OS X and a PC running Windows XP. This printer is flawless with Windows XP, but doesn't even work sufficiently with Mac OS X. If I attempt to print from Adobe on my Mac, the printer takes 30 minutes for a single page. If I try to print a web page it will take 15 minutes per page and sometimes print screen shots rather than the web page. The Mac works fine with other HP printers, but the 1200 SE is a complete bust. No matter what software or solutions I try, the HP 1200 SE will not work properly with the Mac running OS X. I'm very dissappointed with this product. HP promised a solution 12 months ago. Apparently, that was a lie by HP and now I have a printer that can't be returned. I will never buy another HP printer as a result of this experience.

Rating: Summary: HP rides again - great printer, great value Review: This is more like it. I've been an HP fan since the days of the LaserJetII, and it's been painful to see them deliver duds galore in the world of inkjets. This little toy is fast, efficient (I've cranked out thousands of pages, and I'm still on my first cartridge), easy and cheap - and the print quality is excellent. The design is cuddly in a very non-HP way (they must have looked at Steve Jobs' designs when they did this one - not a straight line in sight). My only complaint is the overall product sturdiness: the panel for cable access has to be more or less be broken off rather than opened; once you've done so, the rest of the printer sort of unravels, and until you whack it back together the printer will go on strike intermittenly because it thinks you've left the top open. Be clear: this is a plasticized semi-disposable sort of printer for individual use - not a $5K network printer intended to take a real beating. It probably won't last forever, but at this price, it's a great, great deal.
Rating: Summary: What a waste of paper Review: This printer has great print quality, I must admit. Also does okay with going a while before a new cartridge is needed. However, about every 7 or 8 print jobs it will feed multiple pages. It jams so badly that the cartridge has to be removed and I've actually torn the stuck paper trying to get it out, working a piece at a time. Not good for the printer, or for all the paper I've had to throw away! My coworker has the same printer and the same problem, so I don't think it's a defect.
