Summary: Quality Product and Great Customer Service!
Review: I bought my Samsung as an "Open Box Buy" from one of the computer "Super Stores" in the area. ... Not to my suprise, my steal of a laser printer didn't work once I got it home. I immediately called the 800 number to Samsung Tech Support, within 3 rings a real person answered the phone. 10 minutes later they had a brand new printer off to me. Great customer support! These days quality service is worth it's weight in gold. Samsung will live up to your expectations!

Now on to the printer itself. I will keep this short. At my office I have an $1100.00 HP LaserJet 4050TN, it's nice, but the Samsung is just as fast, and almost the quality. This is the printer for you if you want professional quality and speed but don't want to spend money. I did my homework for months before I stumbled across the deal I got, and this is with out a doubt, the best bang-for-the-buck!

Summary: Excellent value and easy to install
Review: I also replaced my tired ink jet printer. This printer is so fast and clean compared to my previous HP. It looks great, feeds paper quickly and with few paper jams, and prints excellent copy even with toner saver. Lastly, I order the printer on the first of January and still received the free toner cartridge that was offered through November 20, 2001.

Summary: Bye Bye Big Brand Laser... Hello Samsung!!
Review: Samsung knocks one out of the ballpark with this lil guy. The printing is crisp and clean with a variety of settings to save toner and enhance images. Incredible value, not seen with any other manufacturer. If you're like me and need to print a lot of black and white docs.. with great greyscale handling, this is the tool to get.

Summary: Incredible value - I love it
Review: Just for grins, I decided to try the economy mode, printing 16 pages on a single sheet of paper. I can read it perfectly with a magnifying glass. The quality of the output is as good, if not better, than the industrial strength HP megaprinter I use at work, and it cost about 1/10 as much. The USB option works fine, but you'll have to purchase your own USB/A - USB/B cable.

Summary: This printer Is Awesome!!
Review: After reading all the editorial reviews on this item, I bought it and I am truly impressed!! The quality is excellent, noise is non-existant, and speed beats all inkjet printers by a mile. Installation was a fast and easy which is always a bonus.

The box contained not one but two, toner cartridges - one was free as advertised and apparently a starter cartridge is normally included -- another pleasant surprise. I am glad I didn't hesitate in making my buying decision because I would not think the free toner and free shipping offers could last for long.
I recall a reviewer described the printer as "down right cute" and I would have to agree. It's compact boxy design provides the elite look that Samsung was trying to achieve with this product. I gave it a 5 star rating and I would give Amazon.com two thumbs up for offering the 1210 to their customers at a reasonable price!

Only improvement I would like to suggest is that the manufacturer place a label on the CD envelope or insert a note in a visual spot stating that the Owner's manual is on the CD. That would have saved me for searching through the box three times looking for a book that does not exist, as well as, spending time on the phone trying to reach the right department at Samsung.

Summary: Great Entry Level Laser Printer
Review: If you are considering your printing costs and are looking to switch from the ink jet to a laser printer, but are on a tight budget, than perhaps, you should consider this product.

Samsung ML1210 is one of the entry-level laser printers offered by Samsung. Yet, let not the term "entry level" deceive you wrongly. This unit is quite fast (offering a decent 12 pages per minute printing speed based on 5 to 15% of your page coverage).

The maximum resolution this unit can handle is 600 x 600 true laser quality. If you are looking for something of a higher resolution, than you perhaps should look into a ML1250 model which offers same specs as 1210 but it can handle the resolution of up to 1200 x 600 DPI true laser.

However, I have found, that for an average home and home to small office user, the 600 x 600 DPI resolution is quite adequate for most of printing needs. Thus, the somewhat decreased resolution capability of this unit should not of a major concern to you.

Furthermore to the above said, this unit is quite versatile as far as paper size and quality handling most of common paper formats (Envelope - C5 (162mm x 229mm), Envelope - C6 (114mm x 162mm,) Envelope - DL (110mm x 220mm,) Envelope - US # 10 (4.125" x 9.5"), Sheet - A4 (210mm x 297mm,) Sheet - A5 (148mm x 210mm,) Sheet - B5 (176mm x 250mm) and Sheet - US Executive (7.25" x 10.5")).

The tray loading capacity of this unit is about 100 to 150 sheet of regular cut A4 paper (150 sheet maximum capacity, 100 sheet recommended capacity), thus ensuring that you will have enough paper to finish small to medium sized printing project without the need to reload. Furthermore, to this, the unit comes with standard 8MB of onboard memory, thus further ensuring that your printing project and the accompanying printing process will undergo smoothly without your printer running out of the memory in a middle of handling of a larger printing job or without the need to split your printing job into smaller batches due to the insufficient printer buffer memory (how much information your printer can hold in itself once it has been sent from your computer).

Sizewise, this unit is quite compact and thus easily movable around your workspace. The unit measures 9" in height, 13" in width and 13.9" in depth and on average (without the toner drum and paper) weighs about 13.7 pounds.

As far as quality of workmanship and paper handling capabilities of this unit are concerned, I have had quite good experience with it so far. Clients, who have purchased this unit from me, reported to be quite satisfied with its performance (it is excellent in handling the paper, thus resulting in virtually minimum down time due to paper jams and other paper handling problems). Furthermore to this, I must also admit that I am more than impressed with its durability as well. I have rarely seen one of this units going down for whatsoever reason but the most serious user abuse, and even when they broke down, the abundance of affordably priced replacement parts and an extensive net of Samsung authorized repair depots, made it easy for my clients to repair unit in shortest possible time, thus eliminating the down time usually associated with the printer break down.

The unit itself connects to your computer using either Parallel - 36 pin Centronics (IEEE 1284B) or the USB - 4-pin Universal Serial Bus connection and is compatible with both Windows and MAC as well Linux based computer systems (Windows 95/98/2000/Me/NT, Linux (Redhat 6.0), Macintosh OS 8.0 and later)

The software and drivers supplied with it are quite straightforward and easy to install thus ensuring that you will have your printer connected and fully operational and ready to print in a minimum required time.

As far as supplies for the printer itself are concerned, the unit itself, uses the combined drum/toner unit that is capable of printing roughly 2,500 Sheets (normal mode)
or up to 3,500 Sheets (toner save mode). The cost of a replacement toner/drum unit is roughly $ 60 to $ 70 (depending where you shop), which is quite reasonable and much cheaper (cost per page of only 2 to 3 cents) than using your inkjet.

The unit is capable of printing of up to 12 000 pages a month (up to 400 pages a day), which once again is more than enough for a home or small office use, and comes with 1 Year manufacturer's warranty, thus ensuring that you will rest assured and worry free when it comes to your printing needs.

To conclude this review, this is quite excellent unit to consider, especially when you also consider that the cost of the unit itself is in sub two hundred dollars range (depending where you buy it). Thus, if you are looking for affordable yet durable printer for your home or small office, this definitely is the unit to consider.

Summary: Excellent Performance and Value for MonoChrome Printing
Review: I am heavily involved in all forms of graphics applications. Primarily, I make heavy use of Word Processors, Spreasheets, Graphical Presentations, 3d Parametric CAD drawing generations. I received the printer in excellent condition, double packaged inside an airbags filled Amazon.com box.

I was very surprised at the tiny footprint of this printer. I was also thrilled to have received 2 free Toner Cartridges. All for only 187.99.

It took me less than 5 minutes to connect the printer to my PC and to load the printer drivers. The printer driver installed automatically and integrated itself thoroughly into my Windows system. In 5 minutes, I was testing the printer. All the printouts of multicolored JPG pictures, word documents, excel documents, powerpoint slides, Acad 2000 drawings, Autodesk Inventor 3d rendered images, Cadkey 3d rendered images were flawless. All colors were automatically converted to proper grayscale shades.

This printer is a must for anyone needing to print monochrome documents. It performs equally in comparison to the much more sophisticated laser printers I use at work. The CAD drawings I print, infact, are much darker and more legible from this Samsung ML-1210.

This printer is also completely silent in idle mode. While printing its noise level is acceptable. The built in 8MB buffer frees my PC so I don't have to wait to use the application for more than 5 seconds. The USB port connector also gives me the option of having two printers simultaneously, one using parallel port and this one using USB.

This is a "must have". You cannot go wrong with it. Ask for the free extra Toner Cartridge when ordering. If you can get that, you will be set for 2 years of worryfree printing at home.

Summary: Believe the reviews
Review: I bought this printer based on reviews here and other places. I am a grad student and needed a printer for printing research papers and other black text documents. I won't duplicate comments on the quality, speed, and noise. I read one review about the lack of power saving options. That's not true, it goes into sleep mode after a specified amount of time. I received the printer this morning and connected it to the print server in my SMC router. It didn't take me long to configure the server, my Windows 98 machine, my Windows 2000 machine, and my Linux machine. I got all of them working. Configuring the windows machines is a snap, but the linux machine took a little longer. The linux install documentation is error ridden, but all the necessary files are included on the cdrom. You just have to update your ghostscript package, install a few files, and modify your /etc/printcap. This printer works great on a single machine or in a small networked environment. Downsides are not worth mentioning and are for babies anyway: no LCD readout, no printed manual (PDF on the CD). I didn't try the USB install.

Summary: Good printer, nice price
Review: I've had the printer out of the box only a couple hours, but I think it's a great printer with some nice features for the price. I compared it to the HP1000 and the Lexmark, but this has better features (8Mb memory, both USB and parallel connections, 2 toner cartridges included in the box, and the best price among the 3). The multi-up printing (ie >1 page on a single sheet) is great for large prints. I used to print the users manual, which on this printer comes on the CD but not in a printed version.

My only concern was the vertical paper feed vs the horizontal tray on the HP, but having seen this I have no problem with it. Get this printer if you want to save some $ and get a great printer for home use.

Summary: Doesn't work on my imac
Review: I am sure this is a good printer - but not for an imac. i purchased this printer and have spent 2 days on the phone with Samsung technical support - they have sent us 3 different drivers for macs, none of which worked. in fact, the first driver corrupted my OS system and i had to do a clean install to repair the damage!
