Summary: This is a good buy and a good printer
Review: Reviews in Amazon.com were positive, so I bought the Samsung 1210 laser to complement my inkjet. Great decision! Installed quickly (USB) and works fine with XP. Overlay feature is particularly nice for an inexpensive printer.

Summary: You Get What You Pay For
Review: After several months the thing just died, error lights flashing. The manual said it was an "open fuser" problem, but did not say what that means...I sent Samsung an email on this and haven't heard back at all...

Summary: It's sweet!!
Review: This Samsung printer is sweet!!! I was looking to replace my four year old HP Deskjet with a new laser printer. I looked at a number of reviews and recommemdations from various sites and found the Samsung ML-1210 to be the one with the performance features that I want and it's easy on the wallet. It definitely performs as advertised. It's fast and clear, and it's not very big. It's everything you want from a home personal laser printer. Unless you want color. Until Samsung comes out with a newer model that's faster, and I'm not talking about the ML-1250, this is the one to get. Plus you get one extra toner for free.

Summary: GREAT PRINTER AT A GREAT PRICE
Review: Over the years I have owned three other laser printers and four other ink jet printers. The ML 1210 is by far the best, fastest, cheapest to use, most reliable printer (laser or ink jet)I have ever used. It recently made printing three copies of a 178 page legal document a breeze. This printer uses a cheaper toner cartridge (per page)than other laser printers of the same price range, plus the ML 1210 comes with two (2) print cartridges. Also, the ML 1210 works so well in toner saver mode, that I rarely use the standard non saver mode. This printer is absolutely unbelievable for the price.

Summary: Great quality for the price
Review: I didn't scrutinize the printing of pictures, graphics, etc. All I know is that it prints great and pretty fast for what a normal user needs. I didn't want to shell out the price of a computer for a printer and I didn't want to buy a ink jet b/c of ink just always seemed to dry up on me before I would get enough usage out of it.. so I went for Laser and I am VERY happy with this. the USB setup hasn't given me any problems yet.

Summary: It is as others have advertised
Review: The printer was as other reviewers have already stated. It installed in 5-10 minutes and integrated smoothly into my Windows ME. The package I got had two cartridges which was a nice surprise.

Summary: best printer for the price
Review: I bought this printer about three months ago. First off, it came with two free toner cartridges. It was EZ to set up with provided software. I do a lot of printing, and I have really appreciated this machine. It is fast! And with 8 MB of memory it never has problems splitting large files onto multiple pages like my old printer did. Text quality is excellent, even with toner saver feature turned on. And, it's quiet, goes into power saver mode when you're not using it, and then warms up fast.

This is the best laser printer out there for less than $200, it's probably better than most twice the price.

Summary: Great value, awful installation!
Review: I have an HP 970 for nice color output, but got this Samsung ML 1210 for the loads of text I need to print. Having just installed an HP 960 for my wife, I thought this might be as easy. It wasn't and the manual is on disk and can't be printed out until the printer is installed! The directions are geared to parallel port connection rather then USB. Not good.
After getting my registry un-corrupted (maybe not Samsung's fault), I got the printer working.
The directions for adding the plastic "guide" and whether your output comes shooting out the front, or stacks neatly upright, are, unfortunately, buried in the manual.

But output is great! Good quality and very very fast: at 600 dpi, I did 55 pages of the manual in 5 minutes, 11 ppm.
The Samsung also has some "interesting" features that were totally unexpected: print several pages on a single sheet, print 8 1/2 x 14, expand small "page" to full size (haven't tried this yet) and print a banner/sign over several sheets (with or without overlay) to make a huge display! (I haven't tried that out yet, either.)

Once again, the manual is inconsistent: one page says "toner saver" quality is not really different from regular; a few pages on says it is inferior.

But to summarize:
I needed good speed and good laser output at an affordable cost and this printer delivers. I recommend it.

Summary: Degrading Quality, Buyer Beware
Review: *** My original Review gave this five stars and this is what I had to say about it:

I agonized long over the choice of printers. Ultimately, I went with the Samsung because I decided that if I was going to hate a printer and have paper jams (which users complain about with every printer), I'd rather complain for about a hundred to two hundred dollars less.

So far, I have nothing to complain about. The printer was /startlingly/ easy to set up for a non-technical type such as myself. The print quality is beautiful. The most annoying thing about this printer is the top-feeder. It doesn't hold a lot of paper, and needed to find a place to put the printer that is low enough for me to load it easily.

I have it low by my right arm, it's easy to load, and it has an excellent slot for envelopes that is entirely separate from the paper feeder. Gone are the days of removing the paper supply from the ink jet, loading an envelope manually, printing it, then putting the paper supply back. Woo hoo!

*** Now a scant few months later (7/17/02) I'm changing it to four stars:

The printer just up and died one day. Completely and utterly. It wouldn't print. And the test page came out solid black. I called Samsung who said they would fix it, since it was under warranty, but I had to find an authorized Samsung repair place. They found one for me, but it was all the way across the city. I emailed them my amazon receipts, which they honored, and I'm getting the printer back tomorrow. I can't say as I'm thrilled that it would have such a major mechanical failure within months of owning it. The fact that I missed it so much while it was gone and refused to return to my reliable inkjet, says much about how it spoils you, however.

*** Now 12/18/02 I'm again forced to lower my score for the printer.

As it turns out, the repair person was never able to fix the printer. Samsung had to ship me a 'refurbished' replacement. They had the courtesy to extend the warranty on the replacement, but now I'm finding a new problem altogether. The only place to buy toner for this printer is now Amazon.com, who is selling them through Office Depot, who today told me they weren't going to carry it anymore. In order to get it shipped on time, I had to buy it from Samsung's own site at almost $100 and I have to now wait for it to arrive.

It seems to me that Samsung is abandoning this printer. Very uncool.

Summary: Stop Wasting Time on Bubblejets!
Review: Unless you MUST have color, Laser printers are infinitely worth the purchase. I have had no problems at all with the Samsung, the price was phenomenal, and it's relatively small so can fit even on my crowded desk. And the extra printer cartridge included in the package was a very nice bonus. I was so satisfied that I told my brother about it, and he has now purchased one from Amazon. Speed, quality, cleanliness, longevity - all reasons to go with laser and to got with this Samsung.
