Rating: Summary: Comment for the Mikepee, the idiot reviewer. Review: I've had my Laserjet for a little over 2 years (as of 2004). This printer prints amazingly fast, and prints beautifully. It takes the paper in smoothly, and feeds it out smoothly (which is very good since you don't want your paper being taken in roughly and then having a tilted document). I have never had a paper jam while using this product. I only bought ink once and that was not too long ago; this product isn't an ink hog. :) **SIDE NOTE** The printer also allows you to add a scanner (which is sold separately) and I have never used it, but it is available. ************* This printer is HIGHLY recommended (for a b&w printer). It's my "work horse" and has done its job faithfully since its purchase!

Rating: Summary: Good But Not Great Review: I've had one for about 6 months, and have had no maintenance problems whatsoever printing on paper, envelopes, and labels. However, it mysteriously prints an extra blank page from time to time, doesn't hit the label borders on the nose, and, I've found, has inferior gray-scale characteristics. Further, the straight paper path option (for envelopes and card stock) has no tray, and dumps the media on the floor or the table in front of the printer. This unit replaced an NEC 860 laser printer with similar specs that had some mechanical problems from the beginning and finally gave out after 2 years. In spite of the occasional jams, the NEC printed labels far more accurately, had a faster warm-up time, managed half-tones far better, and had an on/off switch which the HP lacks (handy when you need to reboot the unit--a pain to pull out the plug.) I recently ordered an NEC 1400 series which, at about $75.00 less for 12ppm, is probably a better value, and the new design has hopefully solved the mechanical problems. The HP goes to my new home office where the applications are much less demanding.
Rating: Summary: I Like HP, but Not This HP Review: I've had several HP printers in my life and swear by them... until now. I've been very disappointed in this printer. About 6 months after buying the 1100, it began to pull in multiple pieces of paper each time I would print. First two, then three, now about 10 so that it jams every time I try and print. My only option is to feed the paper in one sheet at a time, not fun when you print as much as I do. My advice, stay away from this one until HP get's their act together.
Rating: Summary: Good, but with flaws Review: I've had this printer for a few years now. The good thing about it is that the print quality looks good and that it still works today. The bad thing is that it suffers from multifeeding. After the first year, the printer started to multifeed, getting all greedy with the paper. However, I've come to expect this of printers with the paper feed in the upright position. HP was offering some free quick fix for the problem on their website. So I ordered the paper thing and it fixed a lot of the feeding problems. Now it hardly multifeeds. Overall its a good printer, but be warned that you'll be personally feeding it one sheet at a time after a year or so.
Rating: Summary: Paper jams a BIG problem Review: Like several other reviewers, I've had horrible problems with paper jams with this machine. I was delighted for the first few months, as I have been with other HP products: installation was a breeze, printing was fast and clear, the price was right. But I'm replacing it now after a year because the machine repeatedly tries to pull in twenty or so sheets of paper and clogs. Stay away from this; there's a design flaw somewhere.
Rating: Summary: I just love this printer! Review: My employer bought this for me about 8 months ago and it's been a dream come true! Get this: I'm on the original toner!! Great quality for text, nice for graphics too. Fast, efficient. NEVER A PROBLEM: NOT ONE!! I would recommend this printer to almost anyone.
Rating: Summary: Great Quality Review: My HP LaserJet 1100 isn't the best out there, but it does the job of the best! I particularly like that I have the option of how the paper spits out as it makes this particular printer more versatile as to where it can sit. I'm not sure what the speed of printing is, but it is quite fast, I rarely wait for print jobs to complete. If you aren't using paper that is wider than 8.5", you'll be okay! I'm most impressed with the quality, speed and aesthetics of this product. Now, if it could only be in color! ;)

Rating: Summary: Laserjets are the way to go. Review: The HP laserjet series are very dependable machines. I have a laserjet 6L and sell this one at work as well. You get great printing quality and long life of the toner (for example 2500 pages on an inexpensive 50 buck toner cartridge! ). If you mainly do black and white or want to impress your customers, family, etc. with the quality ONLY a laser printer can give you (an inkjet no matter how good it is can never be a laser printer) get this HP. The 400 buck price should only be considered an 'INVESTMENT' in a REAL printer!
