Rating: Summary: Great Printer Review: I bought this printer when my old HP IIIP died. It's been great. It's fast enough that I'm not waiting for my documents. The only minus is that it's usb only. Other than that it is perfect. If it works half as long as the previous one did (8 years) it'll still be worth it.
Rating: Summary: Good Printer Review: I got a laserjet 1000 to replace an old LJ 4L that had served me well for nearly ten years. The 1000 is a competent replacement for people needing moderate laser printing capabilities. It is reliable, high quality, and cost efficient when you consider that you can print literally thousands and thousands of pages on one toner cartridge. The only downside is that this thing is a bit less than perfect plug-and-play. It gets confused when I switch USB ports and sometimes I have to reboot and install the software again when I change it from port to port. Overall this is excusable because most people probably just plug it in one place and leave it, but if you have multiple un-networked computers, this thing can get a little confused. But if you just dont play with it and let it sit there like a faithful pet it will serve you well.
Rating: Summary: Best Little Laser Printer Ever! Review: I got this printer and set it up in less than 6 mins even with a four year old helping! It's fast, it's crisp, it's clear and it even does a nice job with images! I had no idea what to expect from a low priced laser printer but this is a clear a quality as my first HP LaserJet I bought for over ($) 10 years ago! I highly recommend this over inkjets and middle of the road lasers. At this price you can get this printer and a photo printer and you're set to do anything!
Rating: Summary: Great printer... but AWESOME customer service! Review: I had a HP 940c earlier and it started giving me lot of problems so figured i would go in for a laser printer. Looked at many online stores, but then heard that Amazon sold printers. Bought this HP1000 here.... at a very good price, and asked for regular shipping. Believe it or not, I had it sitting on my desk the next day!!!! This was amazing..... So far been really happy with the printer. But will definitely keep coming back to Amazon. The service makes you smile... :)
Rating: Summary: LASERJET 1000 Review: I had this printer almost a year. Had problems with initial install, HP helped with patch, had windows 98 2nd edition. I got a new Dell computer with Windows XP and even though the software says compatible with xp, I've had too many problems and it turns out after hours on the phone with HP and trying scrubbers, anything HP said to try, turns out to be a memory problem and that the 1000 doesn't have enough memory to work well with my new Dell & XP, and takes 4 minutes from when you give the command to print til it prints. And it chooses which to take the 4 minutes and which to print right away. I just ordered a HP1200SE and hope it will be ok. The paper curling problem with this printer was solved by switching to HP multipurpose paper. AFter the initial problems with the installation I liked the printer a lot....until I got a new computer.
Rating: Summary: Cheap, in every sense Review: I have an HP LaserJet 5L that I like. When I needed a printer for a second office, I bought this one largely because of the HP name. I regret my purchase. It was inexpensive, but it's incompatible with Linux and lacks standard Centronics connectivity. It misfeeds all the time and toner cartridges cost a fortune. This is an example of a company capitalizing on its name -- but my purchase of this unit represents the last time I buy an HP product without thinking twice.
Rating: Summary: No Mac Driver --WHY!!!? Review: I have both macs and windows machines. I received this printer as a gift and found out that one has to buy a faster printer for [$$] more, which is otherwise basically the same, to get a macintosh driver. Why? Beats me. But I know for sure there isn't a good reason.SO, DON'T BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE AN APPLE COMPUTER.
Rating: Summary: Cheesy, Lame, Printer Review: I have had this printer for one year and now it is dead. I changed cables while the printer was powered on in order to hook it up to my daughters computer temporarily. Power went out. Found a small print warning message to never remove printer cable while printer is on! There is also no on off switch. That means they were too cheap to put any transient suppression, emi, or soft start circuitry in the computer.
Before I blew the darn thing up, it didn't print very well. Many print jobs printed over and over. HP techs told me that that was a common problem and their lame solution was to cancel the print job manually.
Save up more money and buy a decent printer from someone besides HP!
Rating: Summary: Ooh, nice Review: I managed to get this printer ...from Amazon. It prints so much faster and nicer than the HP Laserjet 4L I bought in '98 for [way more]. And that printer successfully fed its paper only half the time. A printer that you have to babysit is a pain. I look forward to a lot of usefulness out of this printer.
Rating: Summary: Get the job done fast and easy.... Review: I owned another HP printer before this one, a DeskJet. For its time it was top-of-the-line. But it was a complete piece of junk. It was loud and shook alot and made big cracking noises. I was glad to be ridding myself of that old, over-priced thing, but wasn't too fast to buy another HP. In fact, as I shopped around, I avoided HP's, as I assumed I'd find something better from another company. I was wrong. I set out to find a printer that just printed things. I didn't need to print posters--or billboards for that matter--I just wanted to print essays and what not, fast, quietly and inexpensively. The HP LaserJet1000 fulfilled all of these requirements for a fantastic price. No, it doesn't print in color. But I never used color anyway! If you need a very good printer to do all your standard, basic printing, here's the printer for you!
