Rating: Summary: Samsung RMA Service Excellent Review: I reviewed this printer earlier and gave it 3 stars, an average of the 5 stars I would have given the first one I bought, and the 1 star I would have given the second (which jammed a lot). Well the second one eventually jammed beyond fixing (couldn't get the red error light to go out), so I contacted Samsung. Much to my surprise, they sent me a new one through their RMA department, shipped second day air (I'm supposed to send the old one back to them). I just got the replacement, and it works as well as the first one I would have given 5 stars to. The Samsung RMA guy I deal with was courteous and efficient. If only I had known earlier! So now I'm less leery of Samsung's quality control than I was, and very impressed with their RMA practice.BTW, this printer has been discontinued, but is still widely available, with growing rebates. I assume that Samsung is trying to clear out old stock before coming out with a replacement model. Anyway, with the rebates this printer is now even more of a bargain.
Rating: Summary: A Perfect Budget Machine Review: For my personal use, I have always relied on inkjets--at least since the time of the dot matrix passed into history. The quality of the output is reasonably good for virtually all my personal requirements. I decided to change and shopped around for a laser printer because I was upgrading my photo printer (to the marvelous Canon i950) and realized that a dedicated text printer would be a good idea. The Samsung ML-1430 emerged as the front-runner because of initial price, cost-per-page, and quality of output. It has delivered in every area. Setup is virtually automatic on my XP Home machine. After it warms up and does its little adjustments, it zaps out beautiful text at a cost of under 3 cents/page even at the standard setting. (There is a toner-saver option.) Cons: The paper is output to present the back of the pages. Seeing what looks like a blank sheet emerge takes some getting use to. But how bad is that for an inexpensive, efficient, good-looking printer? Recommended strongly.
Rating: Summary: Great printer, great price Review: I got this for my parents, who are not the most technically sophisticated, and they love it. The only problem they had was some minor difficulty getting the paper in the feeder. Otherwise its been running great!
Rating: Summary: This is a terrible printer. Review: I have no idea why this printer is so highly rated. It has real memory problems, and often has to pause between each page of a multi-page document. So the rated speed is pointless. Envelope printing is next to impossible. The quality of the image is fine, but graphics aren't as sharp as they should be. And the control interface is badly designed. Do yourself a favor and buy a different printer.
Rating: Summary: Beat my Expectations Review: Grate laser printer in the $$$ range (with rebate). Very good quality and print speed for the money. Set-up was a breeze under Windows XP Professional - took about 15 mins.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Printer for the Bucks Review: After owning a okidata 10ex, this printer is a dream machine. Prints fast and clear text at a great price. This is my first Samsung purchase, they will not be overlooked in the future. Way to go Samsung!!!!
Rating: Summary: For a low-end laser printer, this one is top notch Review: After my lousy desktop Brother printer died, I needed a replacement for my desk at work. I searched far and wide, and finally settled upon the ML-1430. I was not disappointed. You're buying basic transportation, but the absolute very best of it. I'm most happy with the 'manual feeder' for single run envelopes and postcards, and the print feed can be redirected to the front of the printer. It's cheap in price but certainly not in quality. It prints beautifully and quickly, and is relatively quiet. It's obviously not as full featured as higher end HP units, but for quick one off's it's terrific.
Rating: Summary: The worst warranty and product I have purchased Review: I would rate this a zero but there is no option as 1 is the lowest here. This printer lasted 3 weeks before a horrible burning rubber and electrical smell permeated the room and it no longer worked. Of course Best Buy only allows 2 week returns and Samsung makes you ship back to them for a refurbished replacement or refurbish the one you have! Never again will I buy from this company. I have Canon and HP products that still operate after 4-7 years.
Rating: Summary: Great value for the cost Review: I've been using the Samsung ML-1430 in a busy accounting office for almost a year now, and couldn't ask for more. I have it connected to both a Windows 2000 PC (using the parallel port) and a Mac running OS9 (usb port). It handles print jobs from both with no problems. Toner cartridges last a long time (and it gets a workout everyday!) Print quality is super, too. Nice crisp, clear text. With an extremely cost conscious boss, I thought I'd be stuck with an inkjet printer forever, but the ML-1430 has been a great investment.
Rating: Summary: Good bang for the buck Review: We networked this printer as our laser option in a small office--we can't believe what a workhorse it has been. Really amazing deal for the money, we've had more expensive lasers in the past which were much more fussy and with less quality. We're very pleased...
