Rating: Summary: Cheap is the only good thing Review: After the first 50 prints the print quality was terrible! The printouts became so faded I was constantly removing the toner cartridge and shaking it hoping to fix the quality of the prints. It didn't help. It jammed frequently and was slow to print. On top of all that the toner was expensive. After all the aggravation I would have much rather paid more for a printer that actually printed well. I'm going back to HPs.
Rating: Summary: Get youself a dot-matrix first; the print quality is similar Review: I hasten to say that I did not buy this printer. My fiancee brought it home to use for printing wedding invitations and working from home. This printer has extremely poor resolution. I have been spoiled on office Hewlett-Packard lasers since college and the Samsung reminds of the dot matrix printer I used to use when I was 10 years old. I print out small font (around 4.5) labels for museum-quality insect specimens and this printer is completely worthless in that regard. Parts of letters and entire forms of punctuation disappear at this size. This printer is the kind of printer that preys on people who don't know what they are shopping for. Don't be fooled by the price (which is indeed low for a laser printer). You'd be better off playing the price for this printer on a single number in Las Vegas. At least then you'd have a small chance of getting some value out of your investment. Summary: very poor printer with a low price.
Rating: Summary: Samsung honors their word for price and usability Review: I suppose there are always some who get the proverbial lemon, but my ML-1710 laser printer lives up to all expectations: price, speed, and no jamming or curling problems. The only knock is the noise factor. When I first turned it on, I thought a Mack truck was coming through the room. However, I can live with this.
Rating: Summary: Not worth the time Review: I was not happy with this product. I had it shipped to me, and as soon as I got it, I had to ship it back. Paying two shipping fees of 17.85 is not worth your time. If you are going to buy this product, I suggest going into your local electronics store to look at it first.
Rating: Summary: Terrible resolution, third-world quality Review: The Samsung ML1710 laser printer is a very poor choice for anyone looking to acquire a laser printer for SOHO use. The resolution is rated at 600x600 dpi, which is already half of that on cheaper laser printers from HP, Brother and Okidata. In actual use, I find the resolution barely better than my Epson 600dpi inkjet at home, and the Samsung's overall quality is very poor. The unit is also very ugly, and paper jam is a constant problem, even worse than the 4-year-old HP LaserJet we have in the office. We got this at a firesale price, but still think we wasted our money. Do not buy this poor-quality printer. Look elsewhere, like HP or Okidata, for better offerings at lower prices, too.
Rating: Summary: ML-1710 Samsung Laser Printer Review: I bought this printer after spending too much money on ink jet cartridges . This printer was very easy to set up. I hooked up the power cable along with the USB 2.0 Device Cable, turned on the printer and put the disk that comes with the printer in the computer. I didn't even have to open a manual. I started printing immediately with no problems. Printing is good quality also. Printer isn't loud, it's rather quiet. I looked at the Brother's and HP's printers and found that this one was the one to buy. With the rebate you can't go wrong. This will pay for itself in just a few months time. I'm very happy with this printer!!!
Rating: Summary: Long term computer user Review: Just purchased Samsung 1710 laser printer. It is quiet, fast, sleek and has a small footprint. I prints fine. Excellent printer and I paid a very low price with rebates.
Rating: Summary: A great and inexpensive printer, a difficult driver to find. Review: I am a G4 Mac user running Panther. I love this printer. It's tiny, cheap and fast. The text is very sharp. Images tend to band somewhat. Blacks are black. Greys tend to run dark. The machine itself has a smart design that is more utilitarian than beautiful. The paper tray is under the machine which keeps the footprint small and the paper out of sight. It has a clever paper level indicator and it is superbly easy to use...once you have the correct driver I followed the directions on earlier posts and had no problems using the open source driver until I tried to print envelopes in MSWord. I downloaded the easy-to-find Samsung drivers a number of times. They did not work. As of the date of this review the driver that works for me was very difficult to find. ...
Rating: Summary: Cheap printer, easy to use Review: Pros:set-up is very easy, prints fairly fast Cons:toners cost you extra $70, you will be surprised with lousy printing sounds. Overall, it's not that bad, but not the best one at the same time.
Rating: Summary: Cheap printer if that is what u r looking for! Review: Pro: cheapest lazer printer I can find Cons(after using it for three months): * Manual feed is problematic; its extremely hard to get the paper feed perfectly straight. Paper always come out wrinkled. * Consistent paper jam (at least several times a day) * Takes a long time to get the printer to print when its on Toner Save mode. * On some programs (ex: Batchmaster), it cuts off some of the fonts. But it works on my HP and Brother lazer printer. * Expensive Toner. This is more like a disposible printer!
