Rating: Summary: Dissapointed Review: When I purchase an item i like to see non biased individual comments about that specific item on forums like this. I usually skim the high rated ones and carefully examine the low ratings people offer to see what problems have been experienced. I did that with the samsund ml-1710 and after close examination I bought one. I was happy at first, but within the first 400 pages of text documents I am now one of the dissatisfied consumers of this item. It prints very softly and disabling the economy feature is futile. I might invest on a toner cartidge eventually to see if it fixes the problem, but till then i will rely on an inkjet.
Rating: Summary: This is a good printer Review: 17ppm - that's pretty fast. Sure, it takes a while to get ready, sure it's a little noisy but there are a lot of advantages too. First of all this machine is pretty cheap (plus I got a rebate on it so it's even cheaper) and customer service is really good. After owning this for about a month I've noticed that printouts were really light - in spite of the fact that I specify the printouts to be dark and high quality. So I called the customer service and I was talking to with a live person in like 5 minutes. I had to take the toner out and shake it for about 15 seconds and put it back then it worked fine!!! Now I am really happy with this printer. It's a good printer. Hey you might also want to register your printer... that helps, sometimes.
Rating: Summary: Delighted with this printer Review: I love this printer! Excellent print quality, easy to set up. I was surprised by how small and light it is. It is a little noisy on initial warmup but not really a problem for me. I really like the slide in cassette paper trey. Nothing hangs out from the machine. I have never had any paper jams. I am glad that I decided on this printer and would recommend it to others.
Rating: Summary: Good value Review: This printer has served me well for the last 2 months and about 1000 pages. I prefer the print quality at 600 DPI; 300 DPI is a bit dark and less sharp. The print is small at 600 DPI so you don't need the toner saver. It is very fast, and I don't notice a slow down when using 600 DPI. Warm-up is a bit noisey but that only takes a few seconds. I don't understand some of these negative reviews about poor print quality and jams. Perhaps they are not using decent laser paper or aren't loading it properly. I have had no paper jams whatsoever. It came with a small toner cartridge. I think it is an extremely good value.
Rating: Summary: The Crappiest Printer I've Ever Owned Review: After 6 months of use, the print quality is bad, text and images are faded or grayed out. Takes forever to cycle up and print out. Stay away from this printer and buy an HP LaserJet printer instead.
Rating: Summary: Only real complaint: Paper alignment Review: This printer was a...bargain for me after...rebate (which I still HOPE to receive). It is loud, but I don't live in a museum or a library so I don't really care. It takes a while to heat up after sitting idle when you need to print- how often do you need to print any way ? The speed of this puppy is mind boggling, and I'm spoiled by network printers (albeit now Xerox network printers instead of HP at work). No USB cable comes w/it, but check out your local Costco/Price Club. They sell a sweet USB cable 3-pack...P>My only complaint is that you can only get one perfectly aligned print-out at a time. It is not a very significant skew- you don't lose data off the page- but it is noticeable. Most of my output consists of maps and directions, which are for my own use and have a short shelf life anyway. However, if you plan to turn this output over to a customer, think twice. I WILL say that I can get a single perfectly aligned print-out when I press the paper in the tray down until the paper tensioner locks. I had a certificate to print out and it came out perfectly. I would also like to mention that the envelope feeder ate my 1st envelope for lunch. The second went through OK but the radius of the drum is so small that (along w/the heat from the fuser) you end up with a somewhat "distressed" looking envelope. Again, I don't think you'd want to pass this to a customer (at least not a paying one), but for personal use- and that's what this printer is for, eh ?- the printer works fine
Rating: Summary: DONT BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Review: After only 6 months my printer gave out completely. Then I did some research to find out why. It seems that with the Samsungs, if they run out of toner, they blow and no more printer. Sorry to say this also happened on my 1410 Samsung after 9 months!!!! I should have learned but thought it was a fluke. It also takes forever to warm up, is very loud and quality not so hot. For those of us using printers a lot steer aay from this one. There is no way to know you are low on ink except for quality of print which is not so hot any way Dont bother calling customer service either.....sheesh!
Rating: Summary: Great Printer that I've met Review: This printer has good quality and fast response. My father gave me this printer to make some materials for the important reports. His choice was very good.....I recommend this one...
Rating: Summary: Pays for itself ..... Review: I purchased this printer awhile back and have loved having it. I got tired of paying 40 bucks for black ink cartridges and over 45 for color with my LexMark printer. While this doesn't print in color there are not many things I print where I need color printouts. This comes with a sample toner cartidge that prints 1500 pages if you use the Toner saver (used 40% less ink)about 1000 if you don't. Toner cartridges run about 79 bucks and prints 3000 pages at regular printing and 4200 using the toner saver. I am sure this has paid for itself with what I have saved in ink cartridges. It is also a very fast printer, easy to hook up and small in size.
Rating: Summary: great design, but not quite there Review: I really love the design of this printer, so much that I'm sad to let it go. I'm returning it for two reasons. First, the noise - my office is nearly silent, and starting a print job on this thing actually startled me to the point that I jumped. I might be willing to let this go except for reason #2: it's a power hog. Running jobs on this was causing mini brown-outs in the house, causing UPS's in other rooms to switch to battery while it's printing. And of course the lights were dimming big-time. I ended up switching to a HP Laserjet 1012, which makes almost no noise, uses MUCH less power, and has almost no warm-up time. Still though, I really, really like the design of the ML-1710. They just need to work on the rest.
