Description:

The Hewlett-Packard DesignJet ColorPro GA printer ably produces a normal-quality color print in 3 minutes and 43 seconds and prints high-quality B/A3 conceptual proofs in 9 minutes at 600 dpi (the best quality). It uses a wide variety of media, especially plain and ink-jet paper, transparencies, photo paper, and more, up to 11 by 17 inches with full bleed. DesignJet ColorPro GA relies upon four modular ink-delivery systems (black, cyan, magenta, and yellow) with HP thermal ink-jet technology to deliver 600 dpi black and color print resolution for accurate conceptual proofs. HP enables graphic designers to produce and review high-fidelity color compositions and accurate mockups. It also supports SWOP, Euroscale, and U.S. commercial and Japanese standard press emulations.

Ease and speed of operation are ensured with built-in media size sensors and two media input trays, holding 400 sheets plus a 150-sheet capacity output. The rear tray accommodates manual single-sheet feeding. With 4 MB memory built in, the DesignJet is expandable to 68 MB. You'll print high-quality B/A3 conceptual proofs from all major graphics applications supported by a distinctive combination of Adobe PostScript 3, Adobe PressReady software, and HP connectivity.

This substantial unit requires approximately 27 by 21 inches of desk surface and weighs 59.5 pounds (with print heads and ink cartridges). Hewlett-Packard backs its printers with a one-year warranty, HP online support, and next-day on-site service. Optionally available after purchase is an additional warranty called SupportPacks, extending the warranty for up to five years, with a choice of response options. --Barbara Price
