Summary: Don't waste your money on this one...
Review: After my HP OfficeJet died after four years of service, I went out to the local CompUSA looking for a relatively good deal. I don't need to print photos or anything -- I just wanted a small, relatively quick and relatively cheap printer. After looking through whatever was in stock at the store, I settled on this printer -- it seemed to be just what I was looking for. I brought it home, set it up by the book, and -- lo and behold, it didn't work. After pulling the entire stack -- around twenty pages -- of paper through at once, it started refusing to take any paper at all, insisting there was a paper jam even though there wasn't. To make matters worse, the ink cartridge cradle sounded like it was trying to smash through the walls of the machine. A friend who was visiting at the time remarked that she, too, had bought this same machine and had had trouble with it.

ASAP, I brought the thing back to the CompUSA where I exchanged it for another one. Brought the replacement home, set it up -- and it worked! Of course, it didn't quite meet that eight ppm advertised, nor did the black ink cartridge last six hundred pages. Within five days I had had to head back out to buy a replacement black ink cartridge -- a thirty dollar accessory. Printer worked fine for a couple more days, when suddenly it spontaneously stopped, mid-printjob, and insisted, for no reason, that there was a paper jam. After trying to get it to work for another hour or so, I came to the realization that it wasn't worth the trouble.

I have since returned this stinker and gotten a good ol' HP. Just a word of warning: this is an extraordinarily untrustworthy product. I recommend looking elsewhere for a printer.

Summary: Uneconomical, even for moderate printing jobs
Review: An Epson 777i came bundled w/ my girlfriend's Apple iBook. It produces very clean and crisp text. Unfortunately, the black ink cartridge runs out after about 150 pages. This printer is fine for users with limited printing needs, otherwise it's a costly choice.

Summary: Epson 777 Printer
Review: Bought the printer to replace my Stylus 660. Very inexpensive to buy, but like all color injet cartridge printers, it is expensive to operate. Would assume some of the displeasure of the previous reviewers was poor setup procedures. Had some of the same problems that were solved once I read the directions. When all else fails ..........

Summary: Not bad for a $99 printer
Review: I bought Epson 777i mainly because of its USB connectivity and price. I agree with another reviewer about the phsical size of the printer: though not bulky, it does take up space. Easy installation and setup, good printing quality and a hard-to-beat retail price make this printer a good bargain. Fyi, Epson 777 and 777i printers are identical except for the printer lid and color.

Summary: Paper feed mechanism is terrible
Review: I bought this Epson because of the picture quality and reliability. This printer is pretty good in printing photo quality pictures. However, my major gripe was that the paper feeding mechanism is really bad. It constantly jams and I have to feed new sheet in all the time. The reason this is occuring is because epson changed their loading mechanism that was on their model 740, to one in which the paper is not as straight when it's at rest. Then, when the paper needs to be fed, a lot more problems occur, and creates a big hassle. I will probably still get an Epson for my next printer, but I will not get the same type of paper feed EVER!

Summary: As far as the physical dimensions...
Review: I bought this printer hoping it would be somewhat compact (as it had been advertised). However, it is not compact and feels quite large. The design is compact, yes, it is not bulky. But, it is big. People who live is small apartments might find this information useful.

Summary: Pass on this one -- too noisy and too slow, Ink expensive!
Review: I bought this somewhat seduced by its imac look. My research pointed me to the Epson inkjet printers for the lowest ink streetprices. The cold reality -- this 777i makes all kinds of noises if it doesn't like the state of your paper and then some. Its louder, crankier and pokier than the Lexmarks and HPs that I've had in the past. Now that I've bought this particular model I am finding its black ink runs out fast and even generic ink prices are higher than than they are for other Epson inkjet printer models. The lesson here is about printer needs: those consumers requiring good black and white printing will find this printer too high-end, requiring frequent and expensive ink refills (try the color 480sxu) and for those who seek high quality art/photowork and are willing to put out money and time for ink there are better Epson models to be had. Pass this one up.

Summary: Not a bad little printer for the price
Review: I got this printer free with my Snow iMac 600 mhz. The printer is "cute", but a little too noisy for my tastes. My daughter has the Epson 8 cubed printer & it is so quiet & nice....much quieter than this one.

The output is great (even photo-quality using glossy paper), especially compared to the HP 694C that it replaced. I do seem to run out of black ink rather quickly, but have not tried the Rhinotek ink cartridges yet.

I think the cons are: noise level & the fact that the driver software won't "remember" my page setup options for saved documents (as in, I have to re-set everything each time I print). The price & the quality of the output make up for these drawbacks.

Summary: Epson 777i printer review
Review: I recently bought this printer after my HP 4L died after 7 years. The Epson was easy to install with the CD software and I had no problems with the instructions. The printing was clean and sharp with no smearing. Printing B&W photos from file was very good. I have yet to test the full color capabilities, but just a few simple prints are very clean.
