Summary: more junk from epson
Review: if i can stop anyone else from making the same mistake as our company and not buy epson trash, this review will be worth it.the drive mechs in their printers stink and have failed repeatedly in all the various models we've tried.top that off with the rudest customer service in the world and you have a company we will no longer deal with.HP makes a superior product and always responds well.Epson is just junk.

Summary: Great photo, bad at plain paper, too big, too heavy
Review: If you are not a pro, do not buy this printer

Summary: Quality Photographs but slow
Review: Our company had bought 4 of these printers for our sales team. we use these printers for selling our product. the pictures come out great! this is a very good printer to use. the down side...Its slow. especially if you have BIG print jobs. 300-600 sheets a day. We eventually purchased a colored laser printer.I purchased this printer for home use and it died exactly 12 months later. But, Epson honored my warranty six days after it had expired. Now, i have a new stylus 900 and even purchased the Epson C80.

Summary: Workhorse, but noisy and non-intuitive
Review: The good features of this device are the monthly duty cycle and saving on two units for photo and b/w. There is a higher noise level than I expected, and the driver interface has too many OK boxes. True photo quality can be attained, however, and fantastic grey-scaling. You can cheat on paper quality and cost, but watch that ink level fall visibly with large prints!

Summary: Good deal.
Review: The price was good (especially after the rebate) and the print quality is excellent. In fact, the only real gripe I have with this machine is that it seems to be the only model of Epson printer for which archival inks are not available. But if you're not bothered by that, by all means get one.

Summary: A great inkjet!
Review: This is one great inkjet! I have had three Epson printers and this is perhaps the best. What I liked is that it has larger ink cartridges so you don't have to spent the big bucks so often. It is extremely FAST! There is a PostScript RIP available if you need it (works great, too!).

Photographs printed on this printer look like they came from Kodak. And they print faster than any other inkjet available today.

CONS: I can find no difference (even under a magnifier) between the 1440dpi mode and the 740dpi mode. The 1440dpi mode takes twice as long to print, so why bother. Also, I had trouble with blue-screens (lockups) in the 1440 mode and Epson tech couldn't solve the problem, so I now print in the 740dpi mode and it looks great with no lockups!

Overall, this is a great printer for business or home-office use. You won't regret the few extra dollars that you had to spend!

Summary: Great-- Until it died
Review: This is the 2nd (and last) Epson printer I have had trouble with. I used this printer for home use-- mostly text-- for about 2 years. It is very fast and has good layout options. On the down side the replacement cartridges are expensive and the system that tells you to replace them unreliable. (You can fool the computer into thinking you've put a new one in by lifting up the old one and quickly putting it back in, I learned) The other day (after using it that morning) I turned the printer on and it turned itself off. I have fooled with it to no avail. Epson does NOT have an 800 number and was not very helpful-- even about providing a place for me to bring it for repairs.

Summary: Best money I've spent
Review: This printer rocks. The small ink-droplett output makes halftones and gradients come out amazingly smooth with almost no dot pattern visible.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Very fast--speed is the main feature however
Review: Very nice printer. Very fast (12ppm b&w, 10ppm color) But if you look at the resolution it's the same on this as on the 740. If you want cost of over speed, check out the 740. But if you need a fast printer, this is it!
