Rating: Summary: Enexpensive for a reason Review: I bought this printer because it was the cheapest one I could find. I figured it couldn't be that bad, and I only really needed it to print papers for school. However, my frugality has cost me a lot of frustration and wasted ink. I have never had a printer suck down ink so fast, probably because I've never had a printer with such tiny cartridges. Plus, now it won't even print in black at all. I can't even get it to use the color ink to print anything black and white. Do yourself a favor: Spend more money and buy yourself a real printer.
Rating: Summary: Light and portable Review: I bought this printer for travelling, and it's quite satisfactory. Very light, compact, easily fits in a suitcase. Print quality is perfectly adequate. It does use up ink pretty quickly, but if you only print black and white (as I do), the large black ink cartidge is a much better buy.
Rating: Summary: Satisfaction !! Review: I have been using Canon printer for ages. The reason is low operational cost, I always use the replacement (generic) toner which can be ordered off the internet for ~5.50 + shipping for both black & color cartidges, sometime I even use the bottled-ink (black which save lot of my money. This printer is intended for a light works at home (I used most of the printing at works) or immergency. My last printer is BJC5100, believe it or not, I like this BJC2110 more. These are why. 1) Price, I got it for $... before $... mailing rebate at local store (sorry, amazon). This offer come back every now and then, keep your eyes on the Sunday paper (or load it down from the internet). 2) Size, actually it is the main reason of waiting to buy this model. This baby is so tiny and light (and also its box), you basically can bring it on the road with you. My apartment did not have much space. Its size is ~16 inches long, 6 inches thick and 9 inches high, weigth less than 2 lbs. 3) Again you can use replacement tonner (bc-21e), very cheap if buy in bulk. It's need 2 cartridges of ink colors and black. Caution !! buy from the big sites, some of the ink brand might harm the print head jet (...you'd better throw the printer if this happend) 4) Intallation is a no-brainer, a kid can do this. Driver is good for MAC and PC, windows 95,98,NT,2000. Nice online registration on the spot. 5) 2 kinds of cables (but non included, this is normal for all the printer), USB and pararelle. I did not test USB, but pararelle did not give me any problems. 6) Printing quality is acceptable for me (360 x 720 dpi at best). However Canon improves the color management of this printer a lot, I try printing a photo with a plain paper with best quality. The color matching is better than the BJC5100. They added smoothing feature (they called it color effect prining)which makes color picture printer look better. For Black and white text printing, I cannot see the differences of printing at standard and best quality, although standard printing is notisbly faster. Draft text printing is surprizingly good and fast, I suspect this feature might make this printer consume more black tonner. 5)Overall improvement of software and driver (picture smooth, 2 side printing), although there will be lots of things to setup, for some reasons its layout looks very similar to HP software. Now The down side 1)No light indicator, when you turn it on, you can't tell if it is on. 2)Quiet operation, actually this is good, but when you try to clean the print head or clean drum (new feature) it is hard to tell if it is done, I have to put my ear on the printer because it is set far from my computer, again blame it on NO INDICATOR LIGHTS. 3) Slow printing at best quality setting. Low resolution. However this is not upset me at all. I kept printing on the draft, it is fast and good enough. 4)Small toner tank might results on the quick going of the ink. Stock up the ink. 5)Free creative software (to play, print card etc.) does not works on Window 2000. It is fine with Win95-98-NT. 6)2 side printing (new feature), it can print every other page (odd or even page), then you have to put the same paper back in the printer (with concious). 7) No detail manual (only short setup guide), you should not need it anyway. That is why it has a "help" menu and electronic manual for download at the site. It's alway handy in you computer and save paper (hence the environment) too. I am very satisfied with this printer.... But don't buy it if you look for perfect-all-in-one printer.
Rating: Summary: Fire-and-forget! Review: I have been using my Canon BJC-2110 printer for almost two years and it has been pretty much trouble-free. The color prints it produces are not quite photo quality and it is a bit noisy, but for the price, it can't be beat. (It came with my Gateway package). My opinion may be a bit biased because I have always used Canon printers at home with relative success. For text only applications, the printer is perfect. On the downside, it is a thirsty printer when it comes to ink. The Canon will drink a color cartridge rather quickly if used a lot. If you are looking for a decent printer for a home office that has quite a few capabilities and is pretty much bullit-proof, this Canon printer is the way to go.
Rating: Summary: Not a permanent printer, but a good first one. Review: It doesn't have the speed you'd want, but if you're just getting a new computer without a printer, this will be good for you. Don't expect it to last too long. Maybe a year or so. It's good for its money.
Rating: Summary: Printer Sucks Review: It printers really slow. I mean sloooooooow. ANyway, it is not supported by Linux. What is the big deal about companies realeasing drivers? God. All they are doing is supporting Gates' monopoly. It sucks. That's all I have to say. I hope they don't sell a single one. Oh and by the way, I got mine at BEST BUY and the idiot there got me a switchbox parralel cable to hook it up! Like that will help. I've borrowed a cable from a friend to find out it is a very bad printer. I'm taking mine back to BEST BUY. And the cable. I wouldn't pay $5 for the damn thing. Much less fifty bucks.
Rating: Summary: A good...printer Review: THERE IS A REASON THESE ARE GIVEN AWAY.DO NOT FALL VICTIM TO THIS INFERIOR PRODUCT! This Canon abomination was part of a package 'deal,' which was received as a gift for Christmas of 2000. Less than a year, and only four cartridges later, the print heads have already lost their integrity. It spits out only faded, sad-looking colors and will not even print text decently. Visible banding on the highest quality level, poor ink saturation, and excessive vibration/noise are also part of Canon's 2110 package. I'm a technically literate individual (engineer, web designer, MIS professional). It has ink, the heads are clean, I've tinkered with the driver, etc. In my opinion, Canon simply failed to install quality components. Engineered fallibility is the trade term. It means: use ... components to save money. Sure, there will be a lot of failures, but most units will outlast the warranty, and the profit on the cartridges will more than cover the repair/replacement of the warranty claims. (Canon cameras are no picnic either - get an old-school Nikon.) I have not investigated their warranty because I wouldn't take another 2110 for free. I recommend investigating Epson, as HP does not allow third parties to manufacture ink cartridges for their printers. This means you have to buy HP cartridges at premium prices. Anyway, I recently bought an Epson Stylus Photo 1270, after shopping around. The Epson machine quietly and reliably produces beautiful prints. Check their website for all the technical jargon. All I can say is that I'll never make another color enlargement via toxic photochemistry.

Rating: Summary: Disposable item, don't count on manufacturer support Review: Worked well for 9 months before breaking. Couldn't even get a response from Canon as to whether the warranty would cover repairs. Color quality wasn't the greatest. Consistently fed more than one paper at a time but didn't have many jams while it worked.
Rating: Summary: A good...printer Review: Yeah, it's kind of noisy & sort of slow, but a good deal for the price. Easy to set up & easy to use & produces a printed page that looks very professional - you won't be embarassed to turn in a report to the boss or teacher. It could get tedious for long reports but for it manages print queues well. It has separate cartridges for black and color and changing them is simple...
