Rating: Summary: BJC-2100 dies young Review: I bought a Canon BJC-2100. For a while, it worked well. On my recommendation, my sister and my next-door neighbor also bought one each. All three printers died within four months--a 100% failure rate. ...
Rating: Summary: Canon BJC-5100 Unreliable in the long haul Review: I bought a Canon BJC-5100 about 2 years ago because is was the most economical printer that would print on 11x17 paper. I used it for occaisional light home use. It has become very unreliable with frequent problems. It will tell me there are no ink cartriges when I have just installed a new one. Some times it won't communicate with the computer. I have re-installed drivers frequently in vain attempts to get it to print. Other times it simply won't print at all. I have concluded that I need to replace it. I won't buy a Canon.Another big disappointment was that it advertised that it would print on up to 11x17 paper, but no where on the box or available literature did is specify that it had to be manually fed through the back ONE SHEET AT A TIME! Not particularly convenient.
Rating: Summary: BJC-2100 Review: I bought my BJC-2100 In JUne,2002. It died in Dec. 2003. What more can I say? Think twice before you buy Canon...
Rating: Summary: Great printer if you're sick of running to Kinkos Review: I bought my Canon BJC-2100 a few months ago, and it was a little harder to get installed than I would have liked, mostly due to some driver problems that were probably my fault. It installs itself as Printing services for USB Don't forget to also purchase a USB cable for this guy (computer-to-peripheral). It comes with ink. The picture quality is pretty good. It has three default settings (high, normal, draft) - draft is great for Mapquest, that's mostly what I use this guy for. High makes decent printings on normal paper, but you'd be fooling yourself if you thought it was photo-quality.
Rating: Summary: Good Value Printer Review: I bought my Canon BJC-2100 about a month ago as a stop-gap. My old printer had died, and I was a little tight on money. I have been very satisfied with this printer in the time that I have had it. Canon seems to have made some improvements over the BJC-2000, most notably the separate cartridges for black&white and color. I did a little checking before I bought this, and the black&white replacement cartridges only cost about $10 (compared to over $30 for some other printers) while the color cartridge (all colors are in this one...there are no separate color wells) was about $25. This printer has given me very acceptable results. Quality has been fine, but not spectacular. Speed is OK, and I have not had to worry about any paper mis-feeds.... The Canon BJC-2100 has done good work for me so far.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: I bought this printer because it was relatively cheap. It thought it would be a good home printer. I could use it to print assignments and reports that I do for university. At first it worked fine. However after about half a year the print quality started to suffer. It still prints however the quality is hopeless. I wouldn't recommend buying this printer.
Rating: Summary: Do not buy this printer Review: I bought this printer for my 85-yr-old mother to use with her iMac (OS 9.2). From the outset, there were problems. The drivers provided on the CD did not load properly, and the printer has never printed the way it should. I had to download drivers from the Canon website, which did not work either. Getting support from Canon was close to impossible and we are now going to junk a printer that ultimately printed a grand total of no more than 100 pages in its short demented life. I am not a helpless computer user, but I have never encountered so many problems with a printer. Maybe ours was a lemon, but I would not recommend this printer.
Rating: Summary: Good, Basic Printer Review: I first bought one of these more than three years ago. It provided good, basic, utility service for my wife and I. Problem was we bought ink cartridges at that wearhouse place where you get a ten year supply for a song and a dance. That's when it died. I don't know if it just needed a new caridge for the cartridges, or if the printer itself died. But the price of replacing the printer was less than the value of the ink we had on hand, so I bought a replacement printer. If you think of a cheap inkjet printer the same way you think of a major appliance, you may not find my story compelling. But if you have the realistic view that your everyday inkjet printer is no more durable than a lawn sprinkler, then this is a great printer. We also have a super-expensive, high-quality photo inkjet for those special print jobs, but this is the printer that I use every day. You can't beat the value for that kind of use.
Rating: Summary: Premature death! Review: I had this printer for a year and it has DIED. The print quality from the begining as not great, but now it's even worse! The paper jams and it prints in stripes, save your money and buy a better printer!
Rating: Summary: Good Printers- Bad Service Review: I have a BJC-3000 that has worked fine for 6 months and out of the blue has started jamming. I have had similar problems with the other BJC models. I called Canon and they first wanted me to include a copy of the receipt, so if you ever want service, save your receipt. The waranty on these printers is "select exchange" and not an advance exchange. They will not send you the replacement printer first, unlike other manufacturers, you have to box up your printer, send it to them and they will send you a refurbished printer. The whole process takes 3 days if you overnight the printer to them. So, if you need a printer quickly, drop your Canon in the trash and go buy an HP or Lexmark.
