Rating: Summary: Great For Printing Text - Review: Although I don't suggest it for photos, or graphics. I went from the old canon 240 to the canon 2100 when the old one gave up on me. I was told by sales that this printer would not be the best photo printer - but that they would turn out better. When I tried to print photos they came out almost as bad as the 240. Thinking I had probably messed up, I took it back and made the tech guy try it - needless to say, I left the printer at the store. -! If your trying to print nothing but text, this printer is fast, and will get the job done. I noticed it printed text fast and it looked ok. Just don't do logo's, photos, and small graphics... :)
Rating: Summary: The Pro's and Con's of this baby -- Review: Basically, when you want to print in good quality (color) on this printer, you need to have a lot of time to spare, and not need it hot of the press in the next minute. The quality is so-so, nothing extremely good, and the ink is quick to finish and or dry up. (I found that after about 3 months if I stuck my print catridge under a dripping faucet for a couple seconds my black ink started working again.) The black ink also doesn't print so well, in a very light quality, but if you choose to have it print in dark, nice, and professional looking, once again you've got to waste a lot of time (and ink) to get the print-out to look write. In terms of paper feed, sometimes I have to hover over my printer so it doesn't suck in four pages at a time and cause a jam. For the longest time, I stopped using my print when I received my Windows(R) XP upgrade, because I didn't know that I was supposed to go the Canon website and download new drivers. On a more positive note, this printer has been very reliable in that it doesn't break down, and despite its flimsy look and attachable/detachable parts, it has come through for me. So, if you want a printer, have lots of time to spare and not a lot of money -- this baby's for you.
Rating: Summary: I never loved it before.... Review: but at this new price, you can hardly complain about its flimsy build, less-than-reliable paper feed, slow print speed (agonizingly s l o w for color) & very thirsty ink tanks. In point of fact, Canon might be willing to drop off a *free* 2100 to every household in North America, as the real game is in selling the ink, not the printer [think about your local cellular company: they're happy to nearly give their phones away, so long as you keep using their airtime], and this model will keep you buying ink on a regular basis.
Rating: Summary: Price is cool, but the ink doesn't last long Review: Don't buy it if you couldn't stand the price of the ink. Do some research or you will fall into my situation. It sits in my basement inkless.
Rating: Summary: Great product for the price! Review: Easy to install, small size, fit anywhere model. Highly recomended if you don't do allot of heavy dutty printing. Right choice for home use. With the USB option it's the easiest thing in the world to setup. You just plug it in even with the PC on, and your system just sees it and asks you for the drivers. It's a little slow printing, but worth the money you pay for. A+
Rating: Summary: The BJC-21xx, and the Print Head problem. Review: First off, the 21xx series, of which I own the 2100 and 2130 are excellent printers for the money. The 2100 replaced my old BJC-600E, and the 2130 is now serving our downstairs computers. Now to the reason I rate it 4 stars instead of five, and the fix for that problem. The print ink dries up and clogs the print head, and you have to clean it. Fortunately, it isn't really that hard. Take about 2 cups of very warm to hot water (not boiling hot, but hot) and put it into a bowl. Drop the print head in, swish it around a few times, and let it sit for a while to allow the hot water to dissolve the dried on ink in the print head. You may have to do this a few times to get rid of all of the dried on ink (you'll see colors bleeding out of the intakes), but it DOES work, and has kept my printers in good condition (no streaks, prints all colors w/o clogs) for the last two years.
Rating: Summary: great price great print Review: i actually wanted to buy an epson c43ux but since it was out of stock, i decided to buy the canon bjc 2100sp. the dpi is quite low for a printer these days and also the epson model had much higher dpi. but then since i am was only print color photos once in a full moon and most of my needs would be for text prints, i settled for a canon printer. the installation was a jiffy even with a parallel port and we were up and away in just over a minute. the text prints are nice but the super economy mode prints are too light and need good lighting to read but i suppose, that must be expected when you are printing in super economy mode. well the ink cartridges are cheap and there are no three color cartridges like in some epson and other brand models. there is only one cartridge for the color and one for ink. the color prints are not that good. One other thing to note is that the printer is not that clunky or cheap looking as the epson c43ux model which i originally intended to buy.it is compact and saves desk space. Overall a good prnter if your needs include heavy text printing and that occasional photo prints. Price-4/5 physical durability-4/5 ink costs-4/5 print speed-2/5 design-5/5
Rating: Summary: A great printer for the price Review: I am a college student and I have a laptop computer. I wanted an inexpensive printer but had good quality. Since I write many papers I needed one that had cheap cartridges that lasted fairly long. For around $50 with the rebate it is truly worth it. I have a HP inkjet printer at home and the difference in quality is negligible. I noticed the negative reviews by others but this isn't a laser printer and what do they expect for $50? The color quality isn't that bad either. Compared to HP printers the refill for the black cartridge is around $9-10. You can even find them cheaper on the Internet or if you buy several bundled together.
Rating: Summary: "The Best" Review: I appreciate the product a great deal; the write up is fantastic, the way it sits on my desk is beautiful and the options of color are magnificent, I only have one probem, I can't get it to print. There are no options for this printer on the printer options and i'd like to know how to have it installed so that I may review and utilize its functions. Is this model difficult to find a driver for? i have a disk but the options for this particular driver doesn't match. Sincerely, Kendra Devona Mc Kneely
Rating: Summary: Love Turns to Hate in Just One Year Review: I bought a Canon BJC-2100 just under a year ago. I had got rid of an Epson because the printhead kept clogging up. All the mavens told me "Get a printer with printheads in the cartridge, so when you get a new cartridge you get a new printhead." So I bought this Canon. It worked FINE. Lovely crisp B & W, wonderful clean, stripe-free, vibrant colors. I was in love. Just last week the color went pastel and stripey. Time to change the cartridge again. Oh, well. So I did. EEEEK. The color was STILL pastel and stripey. Returned cartridge with curses, got another, same thing. Returned cartridge for store refund, went to new store . . . same old, same old. Told story to Canon who said "You need new printhead, it's the cartridge container." Am still looking for them to cost them, indications are it will be cheaper to buy another printer. Why do I hate my Canon now? Because after only 4 color cartridges and 6-10 black cartridges passed thro' it since I bought it less than a year ago, the damn thing ought to still work. And I resent the hassles. I'd rather pay more money and have less hassle. They make a bloody fortune on the cartridges, why can't the printers work longer than a year. Spit.
