Summary: Love my BJC 6000!
Review: I love my BJC 6000, in fact I own two. I've have very few maintenance problems. I especially like the fact that I don't have to replace the whole cartridge when 1 ink tank runs out. It's easy to do and $$ saving. I'm an artist and print a lot of my own artwork. The problems most people have in reproducing the same colors on the printer as on the screen come from your graphics programs as well as the type of paper you use, rarely from the printer. I love it!!

Summary: Paper Eater
Review: I purchased the BJC-6000 because I loved my BJC-620 my wife took over after she got her own computer. I like the idea of seperate ink cartridges that can be replaced individualy. However, my BJC-6000 has been in the shop 3 times because of constant paper jamming. The machine would not accecpt the paper correctly every time, and when it did take, it came out crooked. The 2nd time it went in, they corrected the problem which lasted about 3 weeks. Then, one day, it snatched in a page and managed to crumple it up and damage the print head in the process. Ink all over the interior resulted in replacement of the platten. Insult to injury was added on when I was charged for a new print head even though the machine was still under warranty. I may have purchased a lemon. I am dissapointed in the BJC-6000, especially after I had good results with the BJC-620.

Summary: Cannon 6000 Review
Review: I purchased the Cannon BJ6000 because of the comments I read at the time and because there was a $50 rebate. I am disappointed in the quality of the pictures printed using the Photo cartridge ($50) and the photo quality glossy paper. You must "deep clean" the heads each time you install the photo cartridge to get the best possible picture, which is about 60% the quality of 35mm prints and very slow (about 3 minutes per picture). The colors are not true to the digital picture. Also, if you don't use the cartridge up in a short time the quality gets worse. The black and white printing is fine, except the cartridges do not last very long, even with little printing. ... Good Luck.

Summary: Great Printer!
Review: I purchased the Canon BJC-6000 right after it was released in spring of '99 (when it still cost $400 CAD). I used to have a 4200 and I found that the cartridges were getting a little too expensive to replace. I heard about the 6000 on a Computer Show in Canada and the impressive results they got from it, so I gave it a try. Personally, I was blown away! It's a bit loud, but the black printing is fast and crisp, and the colour quality is amazing! (Though on cheap paper, it totally drenches it). I have had very little trouble with it, and the minor problems were easily fixed without being sent off for repair. I give this printer 4 stars. I would recommend this printer to any home or small business user.

Summary: very good printer
Review: I think I would have to agree with the review written by Amazon. It works well, but some of the clicking noises it makes (see other reviews) can be annoying at times. Print quality is good, separate ink cartridges are really helpful. Ink is among the cheapest - especially when you buy online and get great bargains. Yes, setup is a bit of a hassle - but it's worth it.

This is my fourth canon printer, and I'm happy with it. I'm really sorry to hear about the lemons that people have gotten. Canon does need to improve their support a bit...

Summary: thus far a good printer
Review: I wanted to submit 3 stars, but that seemed unfair, given the 6000's quality. A pain to assemble, it has lots and lots of neatly organized gadgets that eventually render a nice printer. Astonishingly, it comes boxed without a cable. In this day of customer-friendly packaging, you'd expect to open it up and find everything you need, ready to go, including a cheap cable. Prints great, high quality and clarity. Many moving and clicking parts necessary to print basic text make me wonder how long it will live. One other gripe: The bundled software is mostly marketing gimmicks that give away free information about you on-line when you aren't looking; better to purchase stand-alone software. I've had it 2 weeks and will submit another review after it has been put through its paces. Overall seems far better than a similarly priced color inkjet printer in my office at work.

Summary: What were the final settings
Review: I would like to know what the final settings that Rich from San Antonio was happy with when he finished wasting his paper and time. It would save a great many other would be purchasers a lot of time and money in the long run if he gave a quick list out. Apart from that the seperate ink cartridges are the best thing since sliced bread.

Summary: Three years with the Canon BJC6000
Review: i've had my canon bjc-6000 for three years now. as of today, it's finally crapped out on me. i have tried everything to fix it (performed all the maintenance, cleaning, etc.) and nothing. so, i've opted to buy a canon i850, which i've heard good things about.

so, for the three years it DID work, here's my thoughts:

PROS: individual ink tanks! for ANYONE who does even a marginal amount of printing, you should invest in a printer with ind. ink tanks - it's just common sense. i can't understand why other printer companies haven't followed suit on this kind of thing. i definately got my money's worth out of the 6000. i have printed hundreds of photos that looked pretty darn good, even without the optional photo ink cartridges. keep in mind, i've had nothing to compare them to. :) it has a lot of options to print your documents/photos, etc., so for the advanced user, or just a regular user, interface is pretty easy to use.

CONS: color photo printing in highest resolution mode takes FOREVER; about 8 mins to print a page with two 4x6 prints on it. so, it's not the fastest printer, by any means. and, it's noisy, too. it cleans the print heads all the time, and while printing, actually shakes the monitor and desk hutch it's sitting on. yowza! for general purpose printing, i would recommend using good paper and something other than the "auto" setting.

overall, it's been a great printer, but it's time to move on to newer and better technology! my biggest piece of advice to anyone buying a printer: get one with individual ink tanks! it's just common sense!

Summary: My first and last Canon product
Review: I've had nothing but problems with this printer since the day I bought it. The colors don't even look close to what you see on the screen. The ink cartridges leak everwhere. Blue and yellow stripes print over the image. I've deep cleaned the cartridges, check the nozzles, and done everthing else they recommended but it still doesn't work. As soon as I get enough money to buy another printer I plan on taking a sledge hammer to this one!
