Summary: 4 words...DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!
Review: Definately got suckered into this one! Had it for a year and a half and still have yet to get a good print! I am self employed and do alot of business cards, flyers, etc. For even the simplest things, I get black smudges on everything, jammed paper almost all the time, and the color is always off, usually WAY off. Cartridges evaporate almost instantly. It's loud and slow and photos aren't all that great. Canon has no interest in helping the problem(s) either. Sounds like I'm not the only one who got had by all the great reviews.

Summary: I hope bigger is better.
Review: For the record I've only had the machine for a few days, so obviously I haven't worked out every issue. However, I can comment on initial set up and quality. I have encountered NO problems with set up or software drivers. Be careful with the ink cartridges, they are squirrely and if you mess one up, its mess city (no I didn't). So far I have noticed that the printer, while making some noise, is far quieter than two other brands I had previously. Print quality is ok, but not great. I am assuming that this will improve as I figure out what settings and paper to use. The main thing is this baby seems large, as in real big, and takes up more space than the monitor practically. In summary I had no set up hassles, no broken or missing parts, and the software loaded and worked flawlessly on a Dell Pentium 2 450. There was no cord, annoying, but about right it would seem. I bought the cable that I wanted, be warned you won't get one in the box. Also, you gotta love the ability to replace the little ink tanks individually as necessary. I assume you could refill also. I have read a few other reports of major defects right out of the box. Thankfully I haven't seen that yet, but there's always a few lemons on the loose. ..Cheers!

Summary: Inkstained in St. Louis
Review: Had same problem as Kimberly King of Abiline-the dreaded 6 beeps! When new ink didnt solve it,I checked the pads under the ink-cartridge.They were dry,so I made sure they got saturated. All is well, and the printer is ok for now.
LATER-it keeps happening!Put a bullit in it! Got to find a better printer.

Summary: Canon BJC-6000
Review: I bought a Canon BJC-6000 just over 2 years ago and used it lightly over the two years. It is currently broke giving me 6 beeps which by the manual indicates the cartridge is not installed. I purchased new cartridges and install them and guess what? I still get 6 beeps. I have tried everything the manual said to do to no avail.

So, that is why I rate the Canon BJC-6000 only one star.

Summary: Good printer by all means
Review: I bought the BJC 6000 in mid of 1999 ... I am happy I invested so much money on it. It work very well. With the photo ink and top photo paper, I can have close to real prints. All the limitation is the image itself. The money I spent on inks has exceed the [amount] for the printer itself.

The interface was in parallel, so some of my observation may not apply for USB version. The first page is always fast, but the next one will have to wait, and wait (For what?). That is the only cons I found and complain about. The speed is kind of slow at top quality, hey, that is acceptable. :)

The individual ink is a big plus. I found myself changing yellow more frequently then the other two.

Finally, the i850 seems to use the same inks as the BJC6000, which means i850 can't exceed the quality on the horizon direction.

Summary: initial configuration difficulty
Review: I connected the BJC-6000 to a new Gateway computer using an A-B switch so that my HP 4plus printer could be accessed quickly when preferred. The initial set up was slow but instructions are adequate. Failure of Canon to provide the required Db-25 cable is annoying. I used the installation CD provided by Canon and received an error message ("Printer not responding") when I tested the set up. After much hardware testing failed to correct the error I reinstalled using the Windows wizard for printer set up and everything worked o.k. I'm not sure now if I can use the software included on the CD since I had to set up using the windows software instead of the CD.

Summary: Great output - but not very fast
Review: I found the default settings do not do this printer justice. It took patience and lots of wasted paper, ink and time to get the results I wanted. BUT, once I did, I can only say that some of my print was stunning. Especially when using high resolution paper. One drawback is speed (or the lack thereof). Printing text is OK, but to get high quality photo or graphics be prepared to wait. It took 9 minutes to print one page of a newsletter which had 3 graphics and 1 photo... but, WOW did it look good (as well it should!)

Summary: Easy to set up and use
Review: I had this printer for nearly a year without any mechanical problems. I would still have it to this day if I didn't drop it in a recent move. The software drivers set up easily and when I connected it to my Win2k machine I easily found the updated drivers on Canon's website. I also changed the ink cartridges without incident several times. However, this printer has much cheaper peers (Lexmark Z32 comes to mind) that are of similar quality and less noisy.

Summary: Great Black & White printer
Review: I have not been able to get this printer to recognize DOS programs, ie Mail List, Form Tool, and Pro-write, it also prints green instead of blue. but is otherwise a fast, reliable home printer. It handles all Windows programs well.

Summary: BJC-6000 Awesome!
Review: I just purchased the new BJC 6000 printer after my Canon BJC 210 died. I've had other brands and Canon is my pick. It's speed and quality are far supperior to anything else under $200 and over. I like the fact that is saves me money on ink replacement. I'm glad it didn't come with a cable, it would just raise the price and I got to pick out wich one I wanted. I would recomend this printer to everyone, low and high end users.
