Rating: Summary: Great home-use printer for the price Review: Excellent print quality, both color & black ink. The black cartidge lasts a lot longer than the color (we averaged 300 to 400 pages to a cartridge for black ink; approximately 200 for the color). We found the cover (to access the printer cartridge somewhat difficult to open). We plan on upgrading to the BJC-2000 in the near future.

Rating: Summary: too much trouble Review: I am a first time computer, printer user, and I was not happy with this printer. It was very hard to work with the print driver and then shut down on me. I exchanged it and still had problems. Part of the problem was mine, due to the explanations given, and also lack of support. When I called Canon for help, I was told by an automated machine that my machine was no longer under warrenty and it would cost me 25.oo for the call, finally after using 3 e-mails I got some help and got it to work. I am also on my 3rd ink cartridge because it was not clear that the printer is to be plugged directly into AC wall outlet and left on at all times. I am not happy at all with the color also. The reds are orange.
Rating: Summary: QUALITY IS GOOD BUT VERY SLOW Review: I came from a HP540 and it was considerably faster
Rating: Summary: Canon BJC 1000 Review: I previously used the Canon BJC 4300 which was fine except it drank ink like you wouldn't believe. I don't make that many hard copies, probably one 8 1/2 x 11 page a week and once in a great while, copy some email, yet I replaced the black ink cartridge 3-4 times a year and the color, twice, in the 4300. It broke after 2 years. (Planned obsolescence ?)So I thought when I bought this BJC 1000, I would save money. With my rebate, it will only cost $40, plus shipping. But I have no idea yet how long the ink cartridge will last and it is quite expensive - $30, almost as much as the printer! And it is so slow, too. It takes approximately 2 1/2 minutes to hard copy 1 page, 8 1/2 x 11. I only hope I can buy a black ink (only) cartridge for this thing when it runs out and that it will be considerably cheaper than the color and that it will also last a long time. If I have to replace this $30 ink cartridge 2-3 times a year, I will replace this BJC 1000 with one that is much more conservative, like an HP or something else. My friends have HP's and they tell me they hardly ever replace ink cartridges. The money you save on ink cartridges at these prices more than offsets the higher priced printers and their print quality is better and much faster.
Rating: Summary: I LOVE THE CANON BJC-1000! I LOVE MINE AT HOME! Review: I recently purchased a Canon BJC-1000 and I love it to death. It may be very slow and the quality may not be exactly perfect, but all I use it for is for school and it suits the purpose very well indeed

Rating: Summary: Fine little printer for the price Review: Loading the software couldn't have been made any easier. User's manual user friendly too. The print quality in black is excellent and fast enough. Color is quite slow with good quality. Very quiet too. A good way to begin color printing.
Rating: Summary: Got this printer for three years Review: No problem at all. But if you need to print a lot of stuff, you 'd better get a laser printer.
