Rating: Summary: decent but not great Review: Pluses for this printer includes cheap price, individual color ink wells, and very good plain paper prints. Prints on matte paper is supposed to be very good, but I haven't tried it yet. Prints on glossy print, in my own opinion, is poor. I've compared it to the HP 970c... and the colors simply are not as brilliant, even with adjusted settings. That's a minus 2 stars in my book.
Rating: Summary: Think twice before you buy this printer. Review: I hated the Epson Stylus 80. It was noisy and misfed every type of media, including bright white paper. I expected a more user friendly product based on the reviews and didn't find it. After struggling with this printer for six hours, I exchanged it for an HP.
Rating: Summary: Two Epson printers dead on arrival Review: I had expected a great deal from the Epson printer. The first one arrived and was dead on arrival. I spoke to the technicians who said "send it back for a new one." The second one was not quite dOD but the cartidges didn't function. I had enough of this and switched to an HP
Rating: Summary: 5 stars all the way! Review: This is an excellent printer for the money. The clarity of the photos is incredible and now the ink cartridges are water and fade resistant. What's not to love??
Rating: Summary: Wonderful! Review: I owned the old Epson Stylus Color II printer and decided to upgrade. I checked out the C80 and was very impressed with the speed and quality. The photo printing is extremely detailed and allows for a variety of filtering so that you can achieve the desired appeal. I have had many comments about the quality of photos, and many people are surprised when I tell them that I printed them at home.As for the general printing, I have to say that I am extremely impressed with the quality and speed. As an author, it is important for me to have a printer that is of good quality, and economic as well. I believe I found that with the C80. I was forced to print numerous copies of the manuscript my latest book, in addition to copies of the galley proofs. These, added to other things I needed to print, totalled upwards of 1000 pages of black text. That, plus the numerous photos I have printed thus far, and I still have almost half of the black ink cartridge left. Amazing! If you are looking for a printer that allows for great quality and value, the C80 is a great choice. The price is reasonable as well, considering that there are others out there which have a lower dpi, yet cost more.
Rating: Summary: don't buy Epson Review: Epson has now developed their printers so that the ink cartridges cannot be refilled or cannot use non Epson cartridges. This way they can keep raising prices on cartridges and there will be no choice but to pay their greedy prices.
Rating: Summary: Noisy, but good for printing text Review: I haven't tried printing photos yet, so I can't speak to that issue. However, I have been using this machine to print text every day for two months (received it as a Christmas gift) and have been very pleased. The software seems well-thought-out--the preview and double-sided printing options come to mind--and it's sharp enough to print resumes (an essential quality in these troubled times). Waterproof ink is a relief, and the separate color cartridges are likely to save me money. My only complaints are as follows: 1. It's noisy, especially when it's first turned on. 2. Printing an envelope is a complex affair. 3. When the microchip tells your computer that an ink cartridge has run out, it gives you a couple of warnings and then _absolutely refuses to print another page_ until you replace the cartridge. If you're used to draining your ink down to the last bit of vapor, this feels like a [bad deal]. Fortunately, you can now buy inexpensive third-party cartridges for this model, made with genuine Epson ink. Overall, it's the best SOHO-quality inkjet I've ever used. Like I said, though, I'm not printing photos.
Rating: Summary: dull and duller Review: I have always been an Epson fanatic until trying the C80. What a poor quality printer. Epson advertises that the printer runs their new ink system with Dura-Brite Inks. I asked Epson tech support if they misnamed the inks, they should be called Dura-Dull Inks. What a dissapointment to see how lifeless and dull photos print on this printer. Photos lack detail and brilliance. My two year old Epson 740 prints with better quality at 720 dpi. I personally tried three different printers through exchange, but had no luck with any and also had one that had a short in the USB port. NOT A TYPICAL EPSON PRODUCT AT ALL! If your interested in a very fast printer to print black text, this is the one for you. If you care about color, better look in a different direction because this can't produce as advertised.
Rating: Summary: Great Printer. Review: A fast printer that prints in great detail without a loss of quality.
Rating: Summary: quite good for the money Review: Print quality is excellent if you chose the right setting when you print. The print options allow you to choose from settings such as regular printing paper, to heavy matte paper to premium glossy paper and etc. You can also manually select your own resolution--the C-80 prints up to 2800 dpi producing excellent results printing photos. The black and white printing is the fastest I've seen (even faster than some cheaper laser printers). The colors are accurate--of course that depends also on how your monitor is calibrated. I use the printer to print some digital photos as well as some color Illustrations from Adobe Illustrator. Both rater and vector prints look great on C-80. The ink: it uses four separate ink tanks. Black-$32, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow -$12. I think the ink is kind of expensive, though. Anyway, I am satisfied with this printer. It is also compatible with Mac OSX (new driver available for download automatically when you search for software update on your OSX).
