Rating: Summary: Linux Compatible and Photo Quality Review: After going thru several ... printers, I bought this one based on a recommendation from http://www.....org/. At first all I was worried about was b/w speed - which the C80 tackles well - but once I got into photo printing I was really impressed. The 2880 dpi printing looks amazing, the printer driver itself handles color balance and pitch very well, especially on glossy photo stock. The print quality is next to perfect and Linux compatibility means I can use it will all my machines. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Great speed and good color. Review: I've had this printer for almost a year now. A big step up from the cheap Lexmark that came bundled with my last computer. I bought the epson mainly for the speed. Using the draft quality black and white it really does print about 14 pages a minute. Color of course is much slower, especiallly with high resoulution. I have printed pictures on photo paper and had people comment that it looks "photo-quality". I've gone through 3 sets of ink cartridges and have had no problems with this printer. Overall, I'd reccomend it.
Rating: Summary: Bruce Writes... Review: I'm new to this printer, but after the usual set-up & related hassles of a baby-boomer setting-up a lst time computer...I'd say it operates fairly well. But, what do I know? I always like reading other reviews, because it alerts me to functions that I overlooked by not reading the manual...thanks to those other people's reviews. I should learn to read-n-write, but then I'd be overqualifed for employment in the United States. I like it just fine...thank you...by remaining eligible for employment! Let's have a round-of-applause for all of us minus IQ types!
Rating: Summary: Working as of right now, but an unreliable pain!... Review: When I first bought this printer, I had nothing but problems. I have Windows XP and although it the printer says its XP compatible they do not supply the correct driver. So after painstakingly searching for the correct driver I finally got it to print. Then the minute I would start to get excited because it worked fine one day, the next day it would print out a bunch of code or just give me an error message. EXTREMELY ANOYING! As of right now the printer seems to be working. Although I have to also agree with some of the other reviews about the ink cartridge issue. I tried printing photos on it last night for the first time and it printed a rainbow horizontal band across my picture. I cleaned heads and fixed the alignment, used better quality photo paper and it finally printed fine. It seemed unusual to me to have to do all that to a printer I have barely used.(I've printed less than 10 black and white documents) I also have noticed that the ink level seems unusually low for the usage. So all in all, I would not recomend this printer. Although it is working fine now it is unreliable. I am debating whether or not to go through the hassle of taking it back. Canon or HP may be a better bet.
Rating: Summary: Aviod this printer Review: The ink is over priced, the printer wastes ink, and you can't print in black only if any color cart is empty.
Rating: Summary: Very nice printer! Works well w/linux. Review: I am very happy with this printer! It works well with Linux gimp-print drivers under CUPS. Advantages: Quiet. 180x180 dpi draft mode is very fast. Separate ink tanks for black, cyan, magenta, and yellow. The print quality is great for most things, but don't expect archival-quality photos from this printer. Drawbacks: Large "footprint" The ink is kind of pricey. 1440x720 dpi is SLOW As with all inkjet printers, dust can create streaks in your printouts, so make sure it's cleaned regularly.
Rating: Summary: Don't buy it Review: This printer EATS ink - especially since I seem to have to clean the heads every time I use it. It also feeds the paper crooked to the pictures aren't square with the edges. I won't buy another Epson printer.
Rating: Summary: Black is the color.... Review: This is a nice printer, if you're looking for one which will dump black ink into the bed of the printer without warning. When I asked the tech staff about this, they suggested cleaning it up. Which I did, so the printer dumped again. I've been using the manufacturer's cartridges, so it's consistent at least. I really would have liked tech staff to answer my questions about what caused the dumping and what to do about it, but "clean it up" was the best I got. My next printer won't be an Epson.
Rating: Summary: Ink wasting printer Review: This printer is a loss leader designed to make Epson rich selling ink cartridges. Even if you only print in black, the color ink level will decrease (or will be reported to decrease) ever time you print. Another interesting ink selling feature is that you can't clean the ink nozzles if any cart is empty. So if you mostly print in black ink, and after you color ink vanishes w/o reason you can't clean the black nozzle without buying and installing more color carts that will empty themselves out like magic. Epson has special chips installed in teh ink carts to prevent them from being refilled (and prob designed to report the tanks as empty automatically after a certain time period).
Rating: Summary: one happy customer Review: I bought my new dell about six monthes ago and this was the printer they suggested. I had not researched printers at all. When I set the C80 up a spring popped put from the paper guide. I was a bit worried , because I could'nt figure out where it came from. My copies began to jam , but with a few adjustments it's been just fine, without the spring. This is my third printer and the least exspensive. I could'nt be happier. The print quality is excellent and this printer is quiet.I'm about to buy a digital camera and put the EpsonC80 to the real test, but I'm sure it will pass.I'll let you know.
