Rating: Summary: Buyer Beware Review: I have had Epson printers for over 10 years so I know a good Epson printer when I see one. This is not a good printer. The colours are dull despite being heavy on ink and the printer needs constant head cleaning to keep away heavy banding. While not being a professional standard at this price you would expect this to be a quality product. Mine failed after 15 months and, in my opinion, Tech Support are neither Technical or Supportive. I would strongly advise caution before paying your hard earned cash for this unit. As for me I moved to a Canon i9100 - Lets see if this fares any better.
Rating: Summary: Not reliable AT ALL Review: I could only warn you all NOT TO BUY this printer. When it came out a couple of years ago, it got great reviews. Based on that, I bought it. The print quality is good, when you use the right paper and have the right settings. But, now, less that two years later, cyan and magenta print heads are clogged beyond repair. I read comments from CNET and AMAZON, and surprisingly I see A LOT of complaints about clogged heads and paper jams. So, unless you like replacing your pritners so often, I would advise you NOT to buy this printer. I would be weary of buying the newer version, C82, but who knows, if that printer would do the same thing.
Rating: Summary: Epson makes worst printer known to man... Review: My printer goes through ink like a man in the Sahara goes through water. It also has a nasty habit of dumping ink all over the inside of the printer. Will NEVER buy Epson again.
Rating: Summary: Could be great if it weren't so badly designed Review: This printer prints good quality printing when it is in a good temper. But unfortunately, good temper is not its strong point. I mean, when the heads are clean, the quality of the printing is great but for you to get the printer to have its heads clean it's almost impossible. Sometimes, you use the utility that comes with it to clean the heads (what takes a lot of ink, by the way) and some head nozzles are okay, but some are not. Then you clean again and the nozzles that were okay become not okay and the ones that were not okay becomes clean. It's almost impossible to have all the nozzles clean and they are a lot, I would say they are hundreds, each one is responsible for printing a piece of the text or graphic. If just one of them is dirty, you'll get a flaw in your printing, very noticeable, by the way. After wasting a lot of ink, my policy now is not to clean the heads, never. Every day, after I turn it on, some cleaning gets executed and so I pray that all the nozzles get clean. Sometimes they do and then I print a lot of stuff that were just waiting for this great day. A very bad design feature is that if you have just one nozzle dirty, let's say it's the a nozzle responsible for the magenta color, for you to clean this nozzle, you have to clean all the nozzles so you waste ink from all four cartridges. It should have a way to clean the nozzles of just one color, independently. Also, sometimes you clean the nozzles because one of the magenta ink is dirty, and it gets cleaned, but a nozzle of another color, let's say cyan or black or yellow, gets magically dirty. It's really like gambling. You never know. And every time you clean the nozzles, you get some ink wasted at the right of the printer, in a place that I would call ink trash. With time, that place gets really full of hard ink. Ink may also start makes your printing dirty, because so much ink was dropped in the trash place that it starts getting where it shouldn't be. Summing it up, I would never buy an Epson printer again. And take care because the C82 is just the same as the C80, same technology, but with a prettier face. I hope amazon.com doesn't edit this review because I want you all to be aware that this printer is a waste. My final word is: when all the nozzles are clean, I love the quality of the printing. Unfortunately, as said, this is a rare situation.
Rating: Summary: Money waster printer Review: at first i too was impressed with the fast printing of this printer but less than a year after buying it i had to have the whole printer replaced. no matter how many times i cleaned the print heads there were white lines throughout the printing. so it was replaced and now only 5 months later i have the same problem as well as the fact it is rejecting ink. the first two cartridges that this happened with i thought it was the cartridge but 36 dollars later for ink, i figured out the printer is messed up AGAIN. most of the time i've had it, the printer prints fair to poor. you have to clean the print heads all the time and alot of times which wastes money. i never know, no matter how much i clean the print heads, if when i hit print the page is going to be ok or be a mess. i am afraid to use nice paper as i don't want piles of misprinted expensive paper. and i so do not love that because my printer is rejecting color inks i can't even print black and white. the genius engineer who thought that one up should be shot. please stay away from this printer, and in my opinion, epson. this is the 2nd epson printer i have had and the first was a problem too. spare yourself the grief i have had...i am off to take it to repair again since i spent money on the warranty. i suspect kicking it down the stairs would be more productive.
Rating: Summary: Worst printer I have ever bought - Period! Review: First off, the printer requires re-calibration just about every time I go to use it and it takes about 30 seconds before its capable of printing. Next, ALL ink cartridges must be full in order for the printer to function and the re-calibration process uses ink. Do you see where I'm going with this? That's right, you have to replace the empty ink cartridges black or color used or not before you can even print a document - no exceptions. Lastly, and most noticeable is that you have to shell out [mooney] for a new black cartridge and [money] for each color (x3) to keep this printer working. Outrageous! I bought a new Canon i320 ...
Rating: Summary: Serious problem with INK usage on C80 and maybe others Review: I had to go through 2 sets of ink cartridges on my C80 to find this out so maybe me learning the hard way will help you.Epson printers will not print at all if any single cartridge is empty on its multiple cartridge versions. Fair enough until taken with other factors. I do a lot of black and white printing and only once in a while I print in color. The problem is that the occasional necessary head cleaning on the C80 uses up color ink even if the only printing you are doing is black and white!! After my experience I would not be surprised to find the same problem with other Epson prints and possibly other brands as well. So watch out! I noticed my color was going down as I did black prints and of course I didn't like it, so I thought that when the color cartridges ran out I would not replace them. What a shock it was when my printer refused to print a black and white print in spite of the fact that I had installed a brand new black cartridge. It refused because a color cartridge ran out during the increased head cleaning necessary when the black ink cartridge was almost empty. In other words, gentle people, if you were to do only black printing on the C80 you would never-the-less have to occasionally buy a black cartridge plus 3 color cartridges to keep it going. BAD NEWS!!
Rating: Summary: The honeymoon is over! Review: I was impressed at first; quiet, clear printouts, stable drivers, linux-compatible... Now... The print head clogs after just a few hours' downtime. Cleaning the heads wastes ink, and I have to do that a LOT. The printout is still streaky, even after head cleaning. The colors are off.. Am now looking for a new printer.
Rating: Summary: not recommended Review: Worst color inkjet printer I've seen. It worked fine during the 1st month or so; then it started to produce horizontal streaks, which require "cleaning" and consumes ink, way too frequently; now it it wouldn't clean at all! After only 3 months, this printer a worthless piece of junk.
Rating: Summary: Worst Printer ever Review: I bought one of these from my local camera shop. The store owner raved about them. To be sure mine did work fine, once I'd used 1/4 of the ink supply calibrating the thing. Then over the next six months it went in for repairs three times for clogged heads (using Epsons wonderful ink) (twice) and once with a broken paper feeder. The last time we insisted on a replacement. When it had arrived, it broke within 3 weeks. Another paper feeder, plus ink dumps everywhere. What an expemsive load...! It costs a fortune to run too, though we've never used one long enough to go through the ink. Thinking of buying this printer. Just don't do it.
